Highly doubt that. Switch successor will run any RE game thrown at it, guaranteed. It's not like games won't be optimized for it. Just look at what devs have got running on Switch so far.
Can't even count how many "this struggles on system X, no way Switch could run it!" games there have been, then when they release on Switch running just fine everyone's like... oh.
Of course there are limits, and if you were talking current Switch, I'd agree. But the successor? Not a chance. If SteamDeck can run it (and it absolutely can) Switch 2 will be able to run it.
I promise you, Switch 2 will get the entire slew of RE games that couldn't run on Switch. Every single last one of them. Take that to the bank.
@Colonel_Mustache
They are. The biggest games on Switch are typically about 30 GB or just under. Most of them are 20 GB, and the average file size is closer to 12-15 GB (not counting Nintendo games which are smaller). And many, many games fall in the 5-10 GB range.
Expext that to double with Switch 2 though. We'll probably see average file size increase to 25-30 GB, with large games hitting 50-60 GB, and smaller games hitting 10-20 GB.
Even then, file sizes will still be half the size of other platforms. But it does mean larger storage is desperately needed for the next gen Switch. I imagine I'll keep a spare micro SD just for Switch games running BC, and have a separate micro SD for Switch 2 games.

@Grumblevolcano if the Nintendo Switch sucessor still is a hybrid PS3 in power, maybe RE4 remake will be a cloud version on it, but if the Nintendo Switch sucessor is a hybrid PS4 in power, maybe it can be a digital/physical release.
@JaxonH Yeah, I mean Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order(For an example) is 90GB or so of storage, so it really is nice with Switch storage...
But yeah, like you say with the next gen Switch it's likely to get even higher file sizes... Well, at least we have time to stock up on sd cards!
@JaxonH@Colonel_Mustache Nintendo Switch have it own version of RE Engine, Capcom can easily upgrade/update this engine, to allow the Nintendo Switch sucessor to run RE4 remake and future games Capcom have in mind for the console, in the case of game file/size, first we need to know how much storage the Nintendo Switch sucessor is gonna have when it release, is gonna have 64/128GB od storage? will the Nintendo Switch sucessor have a similar tecnology to PS5 SDD, plus as everyone is tired to know, Nintendo is king of file compression, i agreed in what JaxonH said that games like Metroid Prime 4 and future Legend of Zelda game will have a file of 50-60GB and more smaller games having file sizes of 10-20GB, and i hope because Nintendo Switch sucessor games will have file size between 20 to 60GB, the console have a storage capacity of 128GB or at least 64GB and finaly is rumored that in handheld mode the Switch sucessor will be 2 Teraflops, a significant jump to the 0.93 Teraflops the Switch in handheld mode have
@Giancarlothomaz
I imagine it'll be 64gb, the bare minimum needed to fit the single largest game, just like Switch was the bare minimum to fit the single largest Switch game.
128 GB is possible, but my bet is on 64 GB. Doesn't really matter if it's SSD or not, because Switch 2 will almost certainly use micro SD cards like SteamDeck. The only way SSD would make sense for Switch 2 is if the expandable storage was just as fast, and the only way that would happen is with CFexpress cards.
Now.
CFexpress A cards are smaller, closer to the size of a normal SD card, but they're extremely expensive- around $2 per GB. Standard CFexpress B cards are larger, but come in at around $1 per GB. On the wild, off-chance they went with CFexpress B, the sheer cost of $500 for a 512 GB card would put the storage out of range for most customers. Even assuming prices drop by 50% by then, that's still $250 for a 512 GB card, or $1000 for a 2 TB card, and with file sizes doubling, the effective space of a 2 TB card next gen will be the same as that of a 1 TB card this gen. And as we've seen, 1 TB is barely enough for many Switch users.
I don't expect Nintendo to go that route. Maybe for Switch 3 when costs come down, but not for Switch 2.
The only other option is expandable NVMe storage slot, but size would be an issue. They'd have to go with 2230 instead of the full size 2280 like PS5 takes. That would be doable, and 2 TB 2230 NVMe cards are just now hitting the market, as several users have put them in their SteamDecks. But that's replacing existing NVMe- the SteamDeck doesn't have a 2nd, expandable storage slot. Trying to make space for one could prove difficult on a portable system.
Which is why I believe micro SD is what we'll get, with standard eMMC storage internally.

@JaxonH i see, good that i have a SD card of 256GB reserved for Nintendo Switch sucessor, just in case Nintendo Switch sucessor games storage is only 64GB(which is seen to be very likely to happen)
i hope Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom fix the weapon durability, i will be extremely disapoited if the weapon durability stay the same, Nintendo let me repair/fortify my weapons, i depise breakable weapons, translation waiting for unbreakble weapons in Tears of the Kingdom is the same Ganon doing the gospel, so sadly Nintendo will not fix the weapon durability in Tears of the Kingdom
@Giancarlothomaz I am honestly not expecting them to change out the weapon durability feature in Tears Of The Kingdom. They will most likely refine the already in place system, but I am not expecting more than that. I guess we might get a demonstration of the feature in the 10 minute gameplay demo that Nintendo will be putting out tomorrow.
@Owl1
A very long time. My guess is 20 years, minimum.
3DS and Wii U used legacy 3rd party storefronts, and were still early systems before Nintendo established a unified account system with games that could be redownloaded onto other systems.
Switch marks a new era of Nintendo Accounts, digital storefronts and access. Unlike with previous generations, the storefront will remain the "eShop" with system level account access moving forward. That doesn't mean it'll last forever (no digital console storefront will) but given the fact even Wii U lasted a decade, with a Legacy storefront, when games were still tied to hardware, and being a failed system at that, and you can still redownload purchased games so even though you cant make new purchases, you can still access your old ones...
So ya. I'd say Switch eShop will see a good 20 years. I suspect it'll shut down in 2037. By which time Switch 4 will be launching and nobody will give a crap about buying Switch games.

@Giancarlothomaz That particular mechanic is a very divided subject on the internet, but I don't mind the game either way. I used to hate it, but now I believe it adds diversity to the game. And requires you to plan your next battle, especially on Master Mode.
