Australia, New York, Paris, Tokyo and the rumoured United Kingdom. We're off to a roll when it comes to January

Well, looks like they're trying to push the Switch far better than they did with the Wii U.

I wonder if Nintendo fired the entire marketing department? Such a change in strategy never happened with the Wii U.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

No idea. I guess we could go and ask?

I'll be in Paris that day, but I'm a nobody (obviously) but it is absolutely a no-go for nobodies like myself? I'm a good person Nintendo I swear, just 5 minutes on BoTW will be fine...

From what I know it is an exclusive set of people who are going to try it out. Media journalists as well of course. So if anyone wants to try a Switch I would say find a Nintendo event, make friends and hope that one of them is related to Nintendo. Fingers crossed

Any chance Bandai will make dragon ball xenoverse 2 (or xenoverse 1) as Switch launch title? It will be dream come true for me and day 1 purchase for sure. Bandai only mentioned they will bring old and new franchises to Switch. Also hope Resident evil will make appearance in Switch too (RE2 remake)

@DB-S_RE It's a possibility. Namco is rumored to be working on 5 games for Switch, including a Smash port. DB Xenoverse 2 is a pretty strong candidate for one of the games.

5 games!? How did I miss this?

Are there any links to the rumours?

@Grandpa_Pixel Looked for the link, but it was from ages ago. I believe it was Serkan Toto who reported it, but I can only find a link to a tweet that says "several", instead of five.

@IceClimbers: Xenoverse 1 and 2 sold quiet well on other platforms. Hopefully Bandai consider porting or expand the storyline for Switch. And according to switch rumored spec, I think it can handle game like xenoverse with no prob. Thanks IceClimbers

Bit random
Anyone else think that EAs game for Switch is star wars battlefront but with all DLC? Not sure if I would prefer this or FIFA.
I should expect both right?

1 up !

I would find it more believable than the other franchises they have. That and Dragon Age/Mass Effect being ported

@DjLewe78 It's probably a sports game, and almost certainly not Mass Effect. Apart from that it is anyone's guess as to what FPS EA may or may not port over. PVZGW2 seems to be the most suitable one, but it'll be over a year old by March, and out of Titanfall 2 and Battlefield the one with the more chance of success is Battlefield but I for one can't see that happening. Then Battlefront is in a unique situation, as the sequel comes out later next year, with the original being a year and a half old by March. Hoping for the Ultimate Edition would be unrealistic I think, but it would be the most EA thing to just port over the original virtually early access version and expect $60 for it.

In an ideal world PVZGW2 and SWB Ultimate Edition could come to the system if porting is as easy as what is rumoured but we'll have to wait and see.

I was thinking back to an earlier debate here about achievements and I just thought about how horrible achievements would be on Splatoon.

Anyone here remember achievements like Two For One on Halo 3 (Get a double kill with a spartan laser in matchmaking though explosion kills like hitting a vehicle and playing in custom games doesn't count)? Well Splatoon achievements would probably be like that. For example:

  • Eliminate the entire enemy team all at once by destroying the rainmaker's shield in Ranked Battle.
  • Carry the tower in tower control all the way to the enemy base from its starting point in Ranked Battle without going off the tower or turning into squid form.
  • Win a match of Splat Zones in Ranked Battle on a map with more than 1 zone without the enemy team capturing any zone.
  • Defeat an enemy with a bubbler activated by pushing them off the map in Ranked or Regular Battle.

Not necessarily. I think Nintendo, if they ever did do achievements (which I doubt, unfortunately), they'd make them very simple except maybe one or two for the Super hardcore people. Similar to the difficult levels that act as a bonus at the end of Mario games.

So my game for Switch is going to have a snag, and its not to do with Switch directly either.

Being in the UK, looking for games industry jobs isn't too hard. Getting them with Nintendo experience is however. All jobs require Xbox/PS/PC/Mobile experience over time, delete as appropriate for the job. And generic jobs require any combo of those.

Being a Nintendo dev through their services, making a game to port to Switch early-ish in its life, has made me and anyone who works with me who lives in the UK, significantly less hireable. Thankfully that's just me at this point.

So while it is good business to get in early on new tech, it may knock my future entirely. I love the industry sometimes, and other times I realise that being optimistic and pushing for new technology and getting profit will be the death of me.

I knew I should've taken that Economics degree instead.

So Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was announced at PSX, and it's not a PS4 exclusive. Would love to see it come to Switch even though I'd probably buy it on PS4.

The other versions are apparently releasing in March 2017 so if it's not a Switch launch title it would show up as a weakness for Nintendo's 3rd party support efforts.
