@MarcelRguez Well now that you've extrapolated your point it now could hold merit, because your post literally was just "Persona 5 hasn't been on anything other than PlayStation before, therefore I don't think it will be on anything other than PlayStation in the future". Like literally literally. There's nowt for me to "sorely miss" there I'm afraid, I think my interpretation was perfectly valid. So with explanation now I can understand where you're coming from.

Firstly I don't see where you get Persona 3 from, I don't see how that's relevant. Persona 5 is only releasing in April anyway, it could perfectly fit in with the Switch's launch period. And it's a JRPG, something the 3DS has plenty of.

I don't think Atlus has anything to worry about. I just see it as a Japanese company porting their Japanese centric game onto a Japanese system that will hopefully/probably sell well in Japan.

I think Persona 5 is a safe bet, I don't see any real reason why a port won't happen. It's not like the PS user base will suddenly not have access to the game if it is also on another system. That is exactly the bizarre mentality that the 'betrayalton' weirdos had with FFXIII, they thought that it was worth boycotting because it released on something other than PlayStation. Because they're morons.

Atlus have their fan base that will have had a PS4 for ages now and probably have this game preordered. Good. Now port it to other systems and expand that fan base. Even better.

Win-win no?

@MarcelRguez Well now you've changed, initially agree with me, then say I need to read again even though you admitted that I was correct in my assessment...

I could have just asked for you to clarify your statement but I chose to just interpret it from what I thought you were implying. If that offend(ed) you in any way I apologise.

Though my main point still stands. From what we've heard about the Switch being easy to port to, especially for games that have last gen versions, to Persona/Atlus being a company that should be interested in expanding their audience, to Atlus being a confirmed 'partner' (whatever that means but let's take it at face value) of the Switch I believe it only logical to assume Persona 5 will release on Switch too, and I don't see any real reason why not, with the whole 'brand loyalty' thing being something that I don't see preventing a Switch version. Who's loyalty would be betrayed if what I believe will happen happens?

I don't get placing games/ game companies on such high pedestals with this terminology like they're street gangs or stereotypical groups of teenagers that hand around together at high school. You may be disowned from whatever gang you swore aligence to if you start hanging out with the rival gang and I'm sure we've all been there with those groups in high school...

But videogames? Where is there loyalty anywere in videogames?

You'll have to explain that a bit further if I'm to understand, because contrary to what you think I don't feel foolish right now, just really confused.

If Atlus allowed Persona 5 on Switch, it would probably come to Europe in 2018/2019. Seriously, a TMS port would be better as at least NoE would force Atlus to actually care about Europe.

From 1 to 10, what are the possibilities of the Switch being region free?

I say 7, because I think it's time for Nintendo to give the gamers the freedom of their game choice, and since the Switch can be portable, it would be a wise move, but the shouldn't make it fully region free. Only in countries where languages, let's say English or any foreign language, are commonly used between countries. That would save up the localization costs big time.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

I say 7.

5, I would say it is 50%/50%

They could go either way and there isn't anything really telling us one way or the other.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Shinion

@Azooooz apparently it is 100%, the people spot on with the leaks so far are certain it is region free, citing Nintendo's eagerness for a worldwide launch as a primary reason why.

I'm fully expecting Kirby and the Rainbow Curse to get ported to 3DS to be honest.

Given the fact that amiibo will continue being a thing, I've been wondering about where the amiibo scanner is on the hardware. Perhaps that's what the bulk in the middle of the separate controller / joy-con grip is for when it's docked.

Couldn't that same logic be applied to the N3DS and yet they managed to give internal Amiibo support. And behind a screen I might add

Actually, that's not that bad a suggestion. The only difference I was wondering about was the situation where you're at home, switch docked. Your controller is now no longer attached to your screen. Will you move towards the system in order to scan an amiibo? I think not.

@Azooooz
Both Eurogamer and Laura Dale, who have been pretty spot on their leaks, claim that the Switch will be region free, so I'll wager an 8.
After all the bad press Nintendo had due to the region lock, I think they may have learned if they want a successful Switch.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Well I think the plane and airport scenes of the Switch trailer gives it away. Why would you show that if you're limited to just buying Switch games in your region?

Still think the biggest concern regarding Switch is related to whether there's a proper account system.

Define "proper account system". I'd argue the system is there, just that Nintendo are adamant about tying accounts to systems. The main thing that the competitors do differently is that they allow you to share content between multiple systems with ease.

...and, unfortunately, I don't see that changing with the Switch. The portability of the Switch is all the more reason for Nintendo to tie accounts to a single machine. Why would you need a single account on multiple devices when you can take said device with you anywhere?

I'm really hoping Nintendo does exactly the same thing they did with Bayo 2, since it doesn't seem Sega has any interest at all in doing a thing with the series. Not sure if Nintendo will be up for it though. Bayo 2 was a statement about the presence of hardcore/mature games on the Wii U. Depending on how third-party support works out for the Switch, they might not need to make that statement twice.

As someone who's more a fan of portable gaming I'm hyped about the Switch anyways. But if Bayonetta 3 was coming to Switch? I'd go all Soccer Mum during the boxing day sales on that release. Please Nintendo, make it happen!

@Buizel My point is about your games, save data, etc. being safe. My want is if Switch gets damaged such that it needs a repair or replacement, ok you can login to your account and all you'd have to do is redownload games when the system or replacement arrives.

I'm now really hopeful that we get a Pokemon game in the Switch's first year. It would certainly help shift some systems.

I really hope so. I'm personally holding out on Sun and Moon in case this happens, cuz it would be way more enjoyable on a brand new system.

Got married.

@Buizel
When I buy a new phone, tablet or PC I just log in and my digital purchases are there. When I buy a new Nintendo product, whether it's in a product tier I already have or not, I have to go through a transfer process. And if something gets lost/broken/stolen? It's quite a hassle to get it back and your saves are not coming back.

Maybe it's wishful thinking given Nintendo's history. But if the first time I boot up the Switch and log in with My Nintendo I'm shown my Wii U/3DS purchases without having to open up some kind of tool? That'd be nice. And even if it's just heavy discounts for VC releases I've already purchased. That'd be nice. But when the Switch XL comes out down the track? I better not have to jump through any hoops if I choose to purchase that upgrade.

Another Switch Press Event to Be Held in Paris on January 13

Just yesterday, word got out that there would be a five hour Nintendo Switch event in New York City for members of the press to go hands-on with the system. This will be taking place on January 13 – a day after the console’s proper unveiling.

It seems as though the same invitation will be extended to Europe as well, as press outlets are also now receiving invitations for an event in Paris as well.

Jeuxvidéo.com Founder Nico Augusto posted what looks to be an email invitation on Twitter earlier today.

I don't think there's much wrong with the UI itself. It is at least on the surface the same as iOS and Android. Each application has a square, those apps can be dropped into a folder. They've had that setup more or less since the Wii launched (and therefore before the iPhone). It means you can choose for yourself which applications are one tap away and which ones are a bit further back. And personally I'd much rather have VC games as their own icons for that same reason.

The issue with the UI? The settings menu and how many things are hidden deep within it. For example the way you delete something on the Wii U vs how you do it on a smartphone. Why does it need to be that complicated? And other weird restrictions. Like how on the 3DS you can only have three WiFi networks remembered. Why?

@MarcelRguez I find the Ui quite intuitive. Games are easy to access from the home screen. If stuff like VC games are cluttering your home screen you can just put them in folders. Games and apps are a lot easier to find than on XB360 or Ps4 because of this level of customisation.

Beyond this I do agree that there are a few design quirks that need to be ironed out though.

What I would like out of the UI is improved social integration e.g. party, chat and sharing features.
