@StarPoint With now two separate examples of shadow-dropping GCN games, MP2+3 collection dropping for $40 when MP4 is reannounced seems incredibly likely.

Agreed. I hoped for a remaster akin to MP1, but that doesn't seem quite as likely now. It definitely could still happen, especially since MP1 sold surprisingly well in my opinion. But as long as the games get ported in HD with new controls, that's all I really care about. MP2 and especially MP3 still look fantastic visually today.

Disney Afternoon Collection is still a no show on a Nintendo console! It’s a collection of nes games and it’s available everywhere else but on a Nintendo platform! This does not compute! Logic error!
@Anti-Matter
Really?! Seems like there were plenty of non violent games for you to gush over! You must be an imposter! Quick someone! The real Anti needs our help! Call someone!
@link3710 I think September's a likely candidate. Unless you count Baten Kaitos which I thought it counted as 1st party but maybe not, the physical release of Pikmin 1+2 is the only 1st party release in September. Shadow drop Prime 2+3 in September, physical release in December?
Completely neglected to process the fact Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope just got its 2nd content wave of the expansion pass, and a demo.
Go check it out if you haven't!
@TeaCatherine
Oh OK, that makes more sense then. Thanks.
@Grumblevolcano
Think so? They seem to have exclusives locked every month from Sept through Dec. December is usually a slow month and I wouldn't expect 1st party there, but September could be prime for a release.
September
FaeFarm October
Detective Pikachu Returns
Super Mario Bros Wonder November
WarioWare Move It
Super Mario RPG December
Dragon Quest Monsters
Thing is, it's already late June. We're only 90 days away from Sept. If a game was gonna release then, today was the last chance to reveal it. Unless you think they're gonna add even more than the 4 1st party releases already slotted in for Oct/Nov. Which to me, seems doubtful.
@link3710
Agreed. Also, I forgot about Twin Snakes on GameCube. That seems like a definite inclusion.

Ah, a fellow Pikmin connoisseur. Gamers recognize gamers 😎
I think you'll be very impressed with the Batman Arkham games. Arkham Asylum (the first) was easily Game of the Year when it dropped. And they all hold up very well. Aside from Spiderman (gotta give Insomniac credit where it's due) I think they're the best superhero games ever created (though I do have a soft spot for Maximum Carnage on the Genesis). They may even be better than Spiderman. Idk. Once a game gets so good it's kinda hard to say which is "better". The fact they're playing in the same league tells you all you need to know. They're absolute must-play games. Let's just say that.
I also like how, despite the fact we're gonna have two WarioWare titles on Switch, they both cater to different playstyles. One takes the classic GameCube button approach, one takes the more revolutionary Wii motion approach. Both good, but in different ways and offering different spins on the experience.

I watched the Nintendo Direct today, and I loved it. There's some pretty sweet stuff coming our way! Here are my personal highlights...
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wave 5
Super Mario RPG remake
Princess Peach’s game
Pikmin 4
Sonic Superstars
Penny’s Big Breakaway
Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks totally awesome, and looks so much better than the New Super Mario Bros. games. I liked the NSMB games, but I can already tell that Wonder will be - pardon the pun - absolutely wonderful. I'm excited for the Princess Peach game as well, it looks very charming and cute, and I was hoping that Peach would get another game of hers after Super Princess Peach for the DS. As for Penny's Big Breakaway, the moment I heard it's from the folks who made Sonic Mania, I thought, "I gotta give this game a shot." Sonic Mania is one of my all-time favorite games, too.
Really good direct... what an awesome thing to wake up to! <3

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@JaxonH I think they could do another shadow drop in September's general Direct. Not going to expect it, but I think it's quite possible. Digital release in September, physical in early December. It is a bit odd that the only 1st party release between July and October is a physical release of Pikmin 1+2.
On a side note, they have an exclusive for August too with Samba de Amigo: Party Central. Looks like one of the only games releasing that month too.
Oh, and I think that Fire Emblem Genealogy Remake will get announced in September's Direct for an early 2024 release.
@JaxonH Nintendo covered February - July in the February general Direct yet we still ended up with Pikmin 1+2 shadow dropped today so I feel that setup will continue. Something like each general Direct, Nintendo shadow drops something GCN related on the eshop and it has a staggered physical release. As for guessing December for physical release of Prime 2+3, that's because Pikmin 1+2's staggered physical release is 3 months and October/November already extremely packed.
@NintendoByNature
Pikmin 1 and 2 suffered from, imo, an inadequate control scheme. Right analog had to both move camera and target cursor.
Pikmin 3 on Wii U had a great control scheme with the Wii Remote. The Switch port carried that over, but because joycon don't have an IR sensor it would lose calibration often and you'd have to press a button to re-center. That's because gyro is a poor substitute for IR aiming. It's great for supplementary aiming with dual analog because the right analog recalibrates every time you move the stick. But Pikmin 3 did add a non-motion control scheme where you used a lock-on. And while it didn't feel like the pinnacle of the game's control potential, it was pretty good. And the only viable way to play handheld. I imagine Pikmin 4 will have similar options.
For that reason, I recommend starting with 3 or 4 if you're assessing the merit of the series.

So now with the confirmation of MGS collection for Switch, the only 3rd party fighter in Smash Ultimate that has no game on the Switch is Kazuya (no Tekken games on Switch).
@Grumblevolcano@JaxonH I dunno, it is a bit odd that there's absolutely nothing coming out between mid July and early October. A shadow drop at the September direct seems a pretty high likelihood. Otherwise, why release Detective Pikachu against Super Mario when you could bring it up a month?
If the shadow drop's physical release is just before Black Friday, I could see it working.
Alternatively, they're going to shadow drop something like the Kirby racing game that doesn't have a physical release.
@Professor_Plumber we are missing just one Pikmin game now. You and I both know it, say it with me, Chibi-Robo: Zip Lashdang it Marv you changed the notes
