@MarcelRguez GB to GBC is a smaller jump than original 3DS to New 3DS...and we'd be going from 3DS to Wii U successor.
It would be interesting to see how Pokemon is treated on the Switch. For ages people have asked for a new "console" Pokemon. Obviously something like Stadium or Battle Revolution would be fairly redundant these days...but will we continue to get handheld-style games or more story-driven experiences like Colosseum and XD?
MCV reported on a Pokemon title for the NX back in August. Eurogamer must have been sitting on the news for weeks, and waiting for the perfect opportunity to break the news.
Mario, Zelda and Pokemon were initially scheduled to launch in the first 6 months. Mario and Zelda still appear to be right on track. Pokemon is most likely a Holiday 2017 title now.
I don't know, guys. Don't you think that these reports kill the Nintendo Switch's hype? I mean, if half of them are true, then what's the point of waiting for January's Nintendo Direct? It's unfortunate that leaks can't be shut, especially when it comes to Nintendo.
Oh, well. I will try to avoid any kind of resources claiming that the Switch has this or that for two months.

@Azooooz I do think it kills hype but if say none of these rumours/leaks happened, I'm not sure Nintendo Life would even be around to cover Switch stuff when it actually got revealed by Nintendo as there's not much else to actually report on.
The vast majority of articles over the summer for example were the "Emily Rogers says this..." and "Eurogamer leaked the NX..." type.
@Whitewatermoose It's probably harder to get inside details on what third party studios are working on. The sources used seem to be close to Nintendo themselves so that's why I imagine it's easy to find out about first party games. I mean we don't even know much about second party games in development aside from Pokemon.

@FragRed Well, aside from the fact that the term ''second party'' doesn't mean much at all in relation to game development (as the games are either owned by Nintendo or not), sources seem to be close with Nintendo. Translation and marketing are all done by Nintendo for their own in-house games, seems that those are the departments where most of the details come from. Then there's Ubisoft, EA and other big companies, it's not that difficult to extrapolate some information from them either. ''Smaller'' companies like Bethesda are not as easy to come in contact with. Less people working for a company means that employees are less likely to risk their job as it's easier to track the source. I'd imagine that getting information from Japanese companies is pretty difficult as well, and we're pretty much dependent on insiders from Japan itself.
I'm not worried that most of the leaks are about Nintendo games, that's what I was expecting anyway.
@Octane That would explain why not one seems to know anything about what Retro Studios are working on outside of not being Metroid or Donkey Kong related.

@FragRed Well, that's true, because Nintendo of Europe/America is probably not deeply involved with the localisation, then again, who knows how far that game is in development? Maybe it's not even a 2017 game and that explains the lack of information. I'm sure that the only people that know about the projects are the higher up at Nintendo and the people at Retro themselves.
I wouldn't think so sources close to the leaks and on places like Gaf are saying Nintendo PR department are livid with the leaks. It's funny all this is stemming from ubisoft as someone from their camp leaked the Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
@Grumblevolcano If anything new main series Pokemon games have become more frequent, at least having shorter generations. Pokemon was never a truly annual series with no main game in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 or 2011.
The more I think about it, the more hopeful I am that we'll see a Switch Pokemon first year. Pokemon is absolutely huge at the moment, and would really help to build the Switch's momentum.
Do you guys recommend I buy cartridges or digital copies of games when the Switch comes out? I've never really bought any non-physical copies of games, aside from games I've bought for my computer. On one hand, if my Switch broke, I would absolutely hate to lose all the games I've bought. On the other, I'd hate to have to bring around a bunch of cartridges instead of just having them all automatically be on the system itself. Is there some sort of account system like Steam, where even if my Switch broke, I'd still have them all saved?
@KirbyTheVampire If you like to make a physical collection, then cartridges are your choice. Otherwise, go for digital if you prefer quick access to the games.
Until Nintendo announce the account system, you'll likely be safe with cartridges.

@KirbyTheVampire We'll probably see in January whether Nintendo has decided to have a proper account system or not. If they continue to use the same outdated approach they did for Wii U and 3DS then cartridge only is the only way to go.
But since these collaborations may be a big thing with Nintendo, I would love to see Sonic Racing vs Nintendo.
I would absolutely love to see this, but I do wonder how it would work. I very much doubt Nintendo would compromise the Mario Kart formula, so probably the closest we'd get it Sonic in Mario Kart.
@Whitewatermoose There maybe no other Mario Kart game for the Switch but I also don't see Nintendo doing any other kart style racing game such as Diddy Kong (though doesn't rare own some of those characters?) or Smash Kart but they could do an F-Zero. They wanted one for the Wii U but EA who owns Criterion refused and I guess it will all depend on if there are any studios Nintendo are willing to take the reigns.

@FragRed I think Nintendo will let Mario Kart further replace F-Zero by the MK8 port having even faster speeds and more F-Zero themed tracks (adding 200cc, Mute City and Big Blue were a step in that direction).
