@Ralizah
It's definitely useful. I never had luck with these adapters, such as Magic-NS. This is the first time I've had one where everything worked, wireless and Gyro and rumble and wake up included.

Not sure if you have a Pro Controller, but for me, it's so good it makes everything else feel subpar by comparison, at least in terms of ergonomics. The d-pad and Gyro is perfectly serviceable, but when playing fighters, PS controller is a bit better.

Knowing how much you value Gyro, I think you'd appreciate the Dualsense on Switch as much as I do. The rumble doesn't feel anything special when used on Switch, but it's at least as good as DS4 on Switch. That Gyro though...

@JaxonH I got a Pro Controller after figuring out I didn't really like the DS4 on Switch.

One thing that really bugged me was the rumble. I had to turn the rumble off in Splatoon 2, for example, because leaving it on would cause the thing to shake violently any time I fired my weapon in that game, because the motors in the DS4 don't allow for the sort of fine-tuned feedback you get with HD Rumble.

For games that require a D-Pad, I'll use 8bitdo's superb M30 controller, when possible. It's the best thing ever for retro games because of how awesome the D-Pad is. And fully workable now that you can remap controllers you connect to the Switch.

I wish Nintendo would release Elite controllers, both Joycon and Pro.

Had to buy Dpad modded joycon, which work great, but the right joycon's rumble was way too loud and uneven. Thankfully my white right joycon from OLED matches the left d-pad, and have equal rumble.

Ordered a custom Switch Pro controller with Xbox Elite style analogs that magnetically attach with 3 different types. Quality controllers are hard to come by- PS and Xbox have tons of custom shops but not so much for Switch. And 3rd party options are paltry, with not a single one offering linear transducers for HD rumble. Heck, you're lucky if the controllers even have rumble at all, even the $100 Power A controller lacks rumble and uses the same Alps analog sticks as Xbox Elite Controller and Dualsense, all of which have serious drifting issues (no controller is safe nowadays). Either that or they're wired. Every company from here to China trying to sell wired Switch controllers like its 1993.

Honestly I wish the industry in general did a better job of preserving the 6th generation era. Sega is probably the best at it with Dreamcast content available on Steam, but even then it could be better. Nintendo is the worst offender, with most GameCube games not having seen a re-release of any kind. We only recently got Sunshine again if that tells you anything. The botched GTA Trilogy release certainly didn't help things when it comes to that generation either, considering those are easily 3 of the most iconic games from that generation.

That being said, that era is mired by licensing issues and so many titles won't ever see a re-release as a result.

The bright side is, there really isn't much worth revisiting from Nintendo on 6th gen that hasn't been released already or gotten a sequel that makes it irrelevant.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were on Wii and again on Wii U, Pikmin 1 and 2 on Wii and again on Wii U, Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii and Wii U, Zelda Windwaker on Wii U, Luigi's Mansion on 3DS, Mario Sunshine on Switch, Animal Crossing is superceded now, Ikaruga is on Switch, Monkey Ball 1 and 2 and Deluxe are on Switch...

We just need Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, Baten Kaitos, and maybe a few oddballs like WaveRace, 1080, Kirby Air Ride and Idk, maybe Battalion Wars.

That's not to say I don't want them all on Switch. That would be much more preferable to spread out over other systems. Just saying, it's not like they haven't re-released a good number of them.

@JaxonH Still need my remaster of Eternal Darkness. I'm keeping my GameCube until that happens.

Porting TTYD would probably be advisable as well.

I can't see why people think any new console is likely to release with BotW 2, given the industry-wide semiconductor shortage.

Which is all great, but the majority of that assumes you own a Wii/Wii U that still works. Given one is a 15 year old console and another a ten year old console, it seems about time they make it to the Switch.

Get yourself a dirt cheap Wii & use the GameCube BC. They go for around £25 here in the UK.

Will there be Christmas discounts in the Eshop like every year? Or are the current discounts Christmas sales?

GameCube is the richest untapped BC out there. Timesplitters 2 & Future Perfect, Metal Arms, MGS Twin Snakes, Burnout 1 & 2, Rogue Leader & Rebel Strike, Clone Wars, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, 1080, Wave Race, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Kirby's Air Ride, Mariokart Double Dash, Soul Calibur 2, Smash Bros Melee, Paper Mario TTYD, Toadstool Tour, Power Tennis, Strikers, Geist, Eternal Darkness, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Chibi Robo, Lego Star Wars, Resi 4 & 1 remake, Ikaruga, F Zero GX, Doshin The Giant, Animal Crossing, Donkey Konga 1 & 2, DK Jungle beat, Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Pikmin 1 & 2, Starfox Adventures & Assault, Sonic Mega Collection and tons more I left out. GameCube has an avalanche of quality games not available on current consoles.

Also, the re-releases and sequels to these games have been somewhat sterile or lack features.

@Ralizah
Definitely that one too.

@Kayvoo
Obviously the system had hundreds of games you could list out. Of course its the most untapped, as its the only system thats never appeared as VC. And as I myself have said, I'd love to see GC on handheld. I bought a Win 2 just for that reason years ago.

But that wasn't really what I was saying in the previous post. I was referring to games that haven't been released on other systems (not just current ones) or had similar sequels, and are worth revisiting, in response to the claim hardly any GC games have been re-released.

I'd love to have all those games on Switch, though my short list of games I'd actually bother replaying nowadays, is rather limited.

@Pizzamorg
Right, that's why I said despite owning a Wii U and 3DS, I'd love to see them on Switch and not spread out over other systems.

Just pointing out a lot of its best games have been re-released on newer systems easier to access than on an original GC.

Oh yeah, I get ya. I am just saying it ain’t much preservation if you still need a 15 year old console to play some of the titles! That seems like the opposite, haha.

Life to the living, death to the dead.

Grumblevolcano

@Kayvoo The problem isn't only about very little GC on newer systems but also that the prices of GC games nowadays can get very ridiculous, for example Fire Emblem Path of Radiance is more expensive than the Xbox Series S.

Releases on newer systems can also cause the price on the original systems to plummet hence becoming more fair, 2 fantastic examples of this was Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. Extremely expensive until Nintendo announced digital versions in 2015 (Wii U was still a current system at that point) and then the price plummeted, Xenoblade price plummeted again when the Switch remaster got announced in September 2019.

Grumblevolcano

JaxonH

GC prices are insane.

I bought my collection in 2013 on eBay, auction by auction, and even then it felt expensive. Average of $30-35 for games, with Fire Emblem Path of Radiance running me $80 like new and $200 sealed.

Nowadays? You can't even get a used copy for $200. Loose discs are even selling for $200+. And that's not just list prices, that's sold listings. Prices ppl are actually paying.

I just want a viewtiful joe collection. Just sell the rights to P* already, Capcom.

At least I know i can get a down payment on a house if I ebay my gamecube collection lol. (Not that I would. The few games I offload I tend to give away or sell at a loss. )

Yes, a lot of my collection has fluctuated in value due to re-releases etc but I don't mind. Essentially I just want these titles available, not just for customers to experience but also to keep game industry standards in check. Companies are less likely to release sub-standard software if their excellent previous work is readily available for comparison.
