@Longondo Sort of good to hear I'm not the only one. It does just state the user transfer is for user and save data, so definitely a bit odd. I do have cloud saves, but I think I didn't activate it for many games. Currently in the process of transferring the save games one by one.. ^^'
Monster Hunter Rise is on sale for $33 at Walmart. Absolute gem of a game. Anyone who hasn't played it should really give this series a shot, and discover the magic of why so many ppl are such diehard MH fans. There's good reason for it!
@Monkeido
So, if you have cloud saves, they should automatically back up if you have the setting on. After which, you can download the saves to the new system en masse via the data management settings menu. There's a cloud save option which lists all your saves on a single screen. You can Rapid fire them one after another down the entire list.

After 2 excellent Metroid I really hope Mercury Steam will continue to collaborate with Nintendo even if I don’t see them on a lot of Nintendo franchises
After the success of Dread, I think Nintendo is going to be re-evaluating its priorities.
If Fire Emblem Awakening was enough to get them to enthusiastically ask when the next one is releasing, I think this game will have Nintendo begging for more (which is good, cause we're begging for more right along side em!). And, I think it'll justify a bigger budget and scope in the future, as well as motivate Retro Studios to deliver the absolute goods.
We're entering a new era, Nintendo dudes. An era where Metroid games- quality Metroid games- flow like milk and honey.

Genuine thought. Do you think Nintendo Life should implement some kind of Elite system for OLED owners in comments. For example their comments would appear at the top, maybe they have a gold icon or emblem? Maybe even some articles only have comments open to OLED Elites? Just something to distinguish us OLEDs who are in a higher status fan category right now. Thoughts?
Lets say hypothetically you did that and it could somehow work, I would say you'd want to have additional flairs. Because there are tiers of Nintendo fan that IMO are higher than OLED owners. I mean having the cash to upgrade your Switch just for an OLED panel is some kind of dedication but the Switch is a VERY popular console. You're not taking much of a risk.
As an example, I wasn't that interested in the DS but jumped on it when the DS Lite launched on day 1. That was at the point when New SMB, Nintendogs and Brain Training were already out. It was pretty damn clear at this stage the DS was a big deal. Was I a bigger fan at that point than the people I knew who jumped on it on day 1? The same people I remember asking "what the hell is that thing?" and "what's the deal with the two screens?". Surely not
If there was a flair for people like that, what about the people who brought the Wii U on Day 1? Surely those people are in another tier entirely. I mean in 2012 I pre-ordered a Wii U on the promise of Pikmin 3 at some point down the line. I knew it was a bit of a risk but Nintendo games in HD was compelling. Then that first six months I was mostly playing Nintendo Land and the demo for Rayman Legends. Because there wasn't that much else on offer if we're being honest
For sure there were great titles on the Wii U in the end, you would know as an owner of a Switch because just about everything was ported. I was a pretty vocal defender of the Wii U for that reason and I didn't regret buying it at all. But surely if anyone deserves a flair it's the people who suffered through those dark times. The people who overheard people walk past the Wii U demo units running fantastic titles like Mario Kart 8 who did nothing but mock the controller. Not people who got the newer revision.
edit: Also, I can prove I jumped on the Wii U bandwagon on day 1

They’re already kinda starting that with Advance Wars this December testing the water for a new entry with remakes of the originals
I’d be down for a return of 1080 or Waverace. Since the cancellation of Project Hammer Nintendo Nst haven’t really made anything interesting mostly Mario vs Dk games and Wii U ports
I think we can be fairly confident this will end up being the best selling Metroid game yet. At least until Prime 4 and I wouldn't be that surprised if this does better than Prime 4 TBH. It's the showcase game for the OLED model which, despite my cynicism, I think is going to move a fair few units. People are going to pick up an OLED model and pick up Metroid Dread. This is exactly what the Switch does well at this point
To be fair, it's not THAT much of an achievement to be the best selling Metroid game. Metroid has generally had pretty rough timing with its releases. Metroid Prime was massive but it released on their worst performing console outside of Wii U. Then they end the Prime Trilogy on the Wii which had a conflicting demographic who hadn't played the first two games. There has also been large gaps between releases, releases that aren't really Metroid and releases that launch at the death of platforms. At the end of the day the Switch has almost 5X the install base as the GC does, peaking here and doing as well as Prime did on GC means ~15mill units
Compare that to Zelda which made the transition to 3D on the N64 which wasn't a huge console but still did better than the GC. But also Zelda got a new game on every console Nintendo except the Virtual Boy. Zelda has always been one of the two or three games you have to get when you buy a Nintendo console. Even on the Wii which wasn't naturally the home for traditional titles, swinging a WiiMote as a sword basically markets itself. Or the DS titles, like them or not, which tried something that used the touch screen well. Remember how they sold Metroid Prime 3 on the Wii? Or how they used the touch screen in Prime Hunters?..... yeah.....
Wow, I mean I hope so. So far this game is oozing with quality and I’m genuinely impressed with what MercurySteam pulled off here. Could be my game of the year.

@Ralizah
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that earlier. It feels like another Witcher 3. As long as resolution holds together in handheld mode and doesn't devolve into a Wolfenstein 2 situation, I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this one.
It's weird. Wolf 2 just felt so unsatisfying to play in handheld due to the resolution. And yet, Doom Eternal feels amazing to play in handheld despite the resolution. I don't think they're too much different in terms of raw resolution numbers, but for some reason Doom Eternal just looks really good in handheld. Maybe it's the fast pace action which never lets you focus too much on it, or maybe they use different AA filtering techniques. We've seen firsthand that 540p can look incredible with the right filtering, but it can also look abysmal with the wrong filtering.

How do you destroy the orange blocks with arrows in Metroid Dread? I get the feeling I've missed an upgrade such that I have to restart the game from the beginning as I can't go back because redirecting fuel flow is irreversible.
@Grumblevolcano haven't gotten that upgrade mysel yet, but im fairly certain it's for the "super fast upgrade " or whatever you'd call it when samus can run at lightning speed. At least thats how all others blocks with arrows were broken down. I'd ask in the dread thread though as I'm sure someone can help whos finished the game.
@rallydefault I know the feeling. I'm about 40 hours in BDII and probably only have 10-15 left but I'm putting it off to play through dread lol
@Grumblevolcano yea the games funny like that. I've gotten stuck a few times already thinking there's no way out. I've found the key is to blast every wall and corner of the map to find hidden pathways
