@Grumblevolcano I can't see Eternal getting a cloud version for the simple reason that not only would that piss off everyone who actually expected Bethesda to give the same amount of care and effort into that version of the game as they did DOOM 2016's port, but it would also kind of be flipping the finger to Panic Button after all the work they did up to that point considering they're mostly responsible for the native Switch conversion process.

The changes in Bravely Default II address virtually every complaint I had. Difficulty, turn order notification, menu redesign, and much, much more. Even has active time battle system now!

@Grumblevolcano
I remember similar comments made about Dragon Quest XI S being cancelled despite them continually telling us yes, it’s still on track, we’ll talk when we’re ready. Same thing here. The game is being worked on and they’ve given multiple updates saying they’re still working on it and just recently they said news will be coming soon.

That’s not silence. That’s the opposite of silence. They simply aren’t ready to reveal it. Like DQXIS, they’ll show it when they’re ready, which according to them, will be soon.

Yeah, I don't bother with their wishlist, since it's pointless .... It hadn't appeared in the news part but it was in the 'discover' section I've pre-ordered the physical, as I usually do for games like this

I use the wishlist as my "sale watch list".

Every now and then, I'll check it to see if any of the games there are on sale.

Same here, ever since NintendoLife stopped including sales as part of the UK download news I've jut used the watchlist to see what's on sale I could be tempted by at a glance once a week.

I'm currently hoping Jurassic World will go on sale even though it's not even released yet.

Ok, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is crazy good.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first Hyrule Warriors. I mean, it was good, but not exceptional imo. But this game? This game is exceptional. The combat is so good- playing as Impa is nuts. I love when she teleports into the air and paraglides like a flying squirrel lol. There’s Korok seeds to find, all the special rune skills to use, with gyro which feels amazing...

This is the best Warriors style game I’ve ever played, and makes other games in the genre feel dull by comparison.

@JaxonH For a cloud version to "sell enough", it needs to turn a higher profit, not higher sales. And with development costs significantly lower than a port, the lost sales don't necessarily mean a loss in profit. Quite frankly, we don't have the numbers as to which is more profitable.

And I'm not going to help make it profitable for them to abandon real games I can play wherever, whenever. I don't care if it is paranoia, if cloud games become more profitable, even with reduced sales, real games will go away, that's capitalism.

Edit: Also, quite frankly, most of my gaming time is spent out of range of the internet. So not only would a cloud version be difficult for me to play as is, but if they swap most games over to cloud releases I'll probably have to stop playing games entirely.

@Northwind Question: doesn't preordering a game put a tile on your home screen? And pressing start on a tile gives an option to open it in the eShop?

True, it’s profit that matters, but I don’t think there’s any evidence that development costs significantly less. There was an article I read where they specifically asked one of the AAA developers who ported a game to stadia if it was easier, and they said it was about the same as putting a game on console. That right there tells me it’s not significantly lower cost. Maybe it’s a little less than the work required to optimize on switch, but not enough to account for the significant number of lost sales compared to a native version.

If you’re not interested in cloud games then you shouldn’t buy them. I’m not telling anyone what they should or shouldn’t do. But I think that decision should be based on whether it’s actually something you’re interested in rather than an irrational fear that native games are suddenly going to go away just because they want to leverage the cloud for select titles that can’t run.

If anything, I think these games doing well enough could bring more native games, not less. Because it shows interest. It shows there’s demand. And while that will likely mean more cloud games that couldn’t natively run, it also means more native ports for the ones that can.

@JaxonH At this point, there's not a single video game company I trust to act in a consumer-friendly manner. Cloud games mean they can shut down access to old games to try and force people to buy new ones, and that's guaranteed to happen as soon as the cloud ecosystem takes over.

Which it will, there's no question. I'm just hoping that'll be another 3 decades or so out at least. Gaming companies want full control over how, where and when people play their games to maximize their profits, that's never going to change. Sooner or later the industry will progress to the point where you can only rent out access to titles for brief intervals (you can see it happening even faster to music and movies), I'm just hoping to make this period last.

Consumer ownership is the enemy of profit in capitalism after all.

New Monster Hunter Rise video shows off the great sword. Video compression chews up the image on uploads for this game pretty bad I’ve noticed, but the HQ video uploads I’ve seen look crystal clear.

Is there any video of using ranged weapons such as Bow / Crossbow ?
Can i just depend on ranged weapons ?
I prefer Long ranged attack to avoid close contact damage.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

JaxonH

@Anti-Matter
Yes. Of the 14 weapon types, 3 are ranged. The Heavy Bowgun, the Light Bowgun and the Bow.

There’s been a few short clips of Heavy Bowgun shown thus far, but only a few seconds each time. They’ve also confirmed gyro aiming for the first time in series history.

The Bowgun uses different types of ammo which have a “critical distance” to shoot from. Certain ammo the sweet spot is closer, for others it’s farther away. The screen shakes a bit when you land a shot from critical distance, and over time, through experience, you learn about how far away you need to be for each ammo type to get maximum damage.

Since I move between my regular switch and my Lite, my times don't seem to be very reliable. I remember many of them resetting at least once.

Saw this and thought of you. Looks like it's releasing December 3rd. It's even releasing physically.

My playtimes also aren’t reliable because I switch between my docked Switch and my Lite.

I’m pretty sure I have 400 hours total in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, but it’s hard to know because I split my time between MHXX, MHGU docked and MHGU on Lite. Would have been more but I did a save transfer from MH Generations on 3DS.

Zelda Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 are both at 150-200 hrs I think. Fire Emblem at 175. Both Xenoblade games over 100. Beyond that I can’t recall.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the highest at 265+ hours, with both Farming Simulator 17 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons fighting for attention and that first to 200+.

I've enjoyed the Hyrule Warriors demo, and am looking forward to the full game. At the same time, I've also bought The Rebel Collection since it was half off, and have been enjoying sailing the seas and exploring within Black Flag.
