@Tangerine Did you already play future connected? Just curious cause you didn't mention it as a to do in your comment

@HobbitGamer Hah, joke's on them, some retailers have both Let's Go games marked down to $50.

Yeah, I got Let's Go Eevee for $48 with GCU, and Let's Go Pikachu just recently for $50.

I found Let's Go Eevee for $30 at a second hand store. Brand new sealed and everything.

Dunno how it got there.

I already had Eevee, but still bought it for my brother. And then I proceeded to, uh, borrow, his copy of Let's Go Pikachu to play that version.

@Ninfan Data Mine = when someone hacks a game, and searches through the game's files & coding to look for files for features/new characters/new levels, etc. looking for un-announced things coming to the game in the future.

Conversely, Games are so big, that features/characters/levels that were created in the beginning of development can get scrapped, but developers leave the files lurking within the game. I guess developers leave them in, because they fear that deleting them may create a bug or problem elsewhere in the game.

I completely forgot about future connected to be honest! Well paper mario will have to wait a bit longer that's for sure. I can't swap out physical cartridges untill I complete a game first. I'm odd like that :/

Yeah I may have to give new game plus a miss. I think I'd be replaying it purely to get that one collectable in sword valley. Still annoyed about that! I just thought as the quests that have a limited time to complete them display this fact with a timer/clock icon - that would translate to other aspects of the game. I had no idea the bionis and mechonis would properly reanimate in such a way. Looking back there were pretty obvious lines of dialogue hinting at it I guess...

But my mild OCD certainly isn't strong enough to warrant a 2nd play through for one collectable. Even if it means I dont technically 100% the game. I won't lie though... its damn annoying! I don't feel like I did anything wrong

So Square Enix pulled an Atlus and are releasing paid DLC for an enhanced remaster of an older game lol

@Tangerine hahaha, i can totally get that kind of thinking and never technically finished the game again with new game plus, also missed a collectable somewhere on mechonis i think...
Anyways, i am excited to hear your thoughts about the future connected DLC once you finished it, did you play some/one other xeno game before?

@Solaine Ha. I'm glad I'm not alone! This is my first xenoblade game actually. I own xenoblade 2 and torna physically for the Switch, but they haven't been opened/played yet. Hopefully I like xenoblade 2. A few people I watch on youtube have said the combat is inferior or even frustrating :/ and that torna is a return to the better (more simple?) combat that the first game has.

I'll be sure to post in here once I've finished future connected :]

@Solaine @Tangerine out of curiosity: why such an elaborate game specific discussion in the general switch thread, while there's a dedicated game thread available?

@toiletduck @Tangerine you are right of course, i guess i will read your experience on the xenoblade thread then whenever you are done, last post about this, promise!
Personally i loved xenoblade 2 more than 1(maybe because i started with the second). The combat is a bit harder in a sense that it does take a lot more time to get used to it, the tutorial also goes far too long in that game... but at like chapter 3 it does develop in a more fun way and there is a lot more customization in 2.
Anyways, hope you enjoy your time!

I dunno folks, I think the Switch might be my jam well into the lifecycle of PS5 and Xbox SX.

A couple months ago I was all "gungho" about purchasing an Xbox SX on day one just for PSO2 New Genesis alone. But now I feel as though I'm done with live services. And as a PS+ subscriber for the past nine years, I already struggle getting around to the backlog as is.

My current plans are to upgrade my OG XB1 to Series X given performance for games released after 2017 are generally rough on that model. Wary though that there's a lot of silence from Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony so plans are far from final.

I'm likely gonna stick with the Switch as my console of choice, even early on in the PS5 and Series X's life cycle. I have a gaming laptop as well, so I'm pretty much all set. Maybe I'll get a PS5 somewhere down the line, I did see a few games that peaked my interest. But that will have to wait a good while.

Nintendo's also my jam for the most part; the 3DS and Switch both keep me quite busy. I'm almost glad Nintendo consolidated their efforts into one machine. If I had time for another system right now, I'd grab a PS4. I could see myself getting a PS5 WAY down the line, but I'm in no hurry.

My current plan is to upgrade my entire rig near the end of 2020, once I see how Cyberpunk 2077 performs. Current plans are to go with an RX 5600 XT, i5-9600k (+whatever low cost motherboard I can find), and upgrade my current hard drive to a SSD. Not exactly a super computer, and probably technically weaker than either of the next-gen consoles, but I also won't be playing games at 4K/with ray-tracing. All I want is games to run 1080p/60, and I'm not going to get that with the next-gen consoles.

I'll get the next Nintendo console at launch if it's portable.

I'm just going to stick me PS4 there's a ton of games that I haven't bought and finished that will last me for a good while. When I do buy a next-gen console, the games and the console will be cheap enough to grab my attention.

@Slowdive I'd say "and so it begins" but let's face it - it never stopped.

Nintendo probably will release "new" hardware next year. The Switch has been out for 3 and a half years and we've seen new hardware twice (the silent minor update and the Lite). I'd be absolutely shocked if there weren't at least a minor update (or a "home console only, sub £150" version of the Switch) next year. They might even release a "New Switch" 3DS style with a bit more power to make some borderline games run a little better.

I know it's a stretch to believe but... throughout 2021 Nintendo might also release a "lineup of new games". Bloomberg have really outdone themselves with their journalism by sticking their necks out on that point...

Oh well. I guess they get their clickbait from people who eagerly think that Nintendo is about ready to launch a 4K PS5 competitor next year.

I just hope there's a Switch Pro because it will probably extend this generation. We could get another 8 year generation like with the Xbox 360.

The technology probably isn't advanced enough at the moment to do something about the big 3rd party problem. According to Digital Foundry, downgrading PS5/Series X games to run on PS4/XB1 is very difficult so even if a Switch revision was powerful enough to match 2013 PS4 or XB1 the same 3rd party problem that would exist with the current Switch would exist with a revision.

What is happening on the Xbox front may even speed up the abandonment of PS4/XB1.
