I’ve not played as much SMM2 as I did SMM1 - I just find the creation aspect so much more fiddly and less appealing without the Wii U stylus. It’s a game really begging for a PC app so you can create with a mouse (yes I know there are unofficial ways to do similar things).
It’s always been a great game to play though. I do hope that worlds (though I can’t imagine many people ever putting together any worth playing) helps to bring together sequences that aren’t just gimmicks or kaizo hell runs.
Still slightly disappointed they haven’t added shy guys, ice flowers (would be really great given they’d go easily through all styles), penguin suit, hammer bros suit, ninja enemies (SMB2 & SMW), fire bros etc
@StuTwo I’m with you on course creation being more cumbersome than the Wii U game. I’m really surprised that they didn’t at least implement gyro pointer controls in the vein of the Captain Toad port on Switch, it worked well enough. As is creating levels in docked mode is extremely awkward and so much slower than the first game.
also agree on that. I just pulled out my Wii U to reference old levels I made years ago and it feels soooo much more smooth and just better to make levels on. That said, the Switch pad is still doable but my joystick is bugged so it drifts off wherever it wants sometimes. Not that terrible since I use a pro controller to actually play but making levels is kinda annoying compared to the original
So, anyone think we'll get another announcement today? Looks like another twitter direct is going on at the moment, which means no more directs til E3 time, which isn't exactly surprising. Kind of nice though, the AC updates were pretty well expected but good to help extend the life of the game, while SMM2 will eat up my life.
@Grumblevolcano I thought Nintendo forgot about that thing now Animal Crossing is out which is essential for anyone who wants to visit or be visited by friends. Was it December when they last updated the NSO games?

@FragRed February (Pop'n Twinbee, Smash Tennis, Shadow of the Ninja, Eliminator Boat Duel). My guess is we'll see 1 batch before the end of May, 1 batch before the end of July and then GBA is added in September.
@Grumblevolcano Oh yeah, those are due pretty much any day now, it'd make sense for them to be part of this info batch. That's probably about it, I think anything else would be held back for 'E3'. Well, unless we get a dedicated Xenoblade direct.
It's great to finally see Nintendo start heating up with info and updates. Smm2, animal crossing, ninjala open beta, etc. If the Mario maker 2 update is any indication of the 35th anniversary of Mario and things to come for 2020, we can have a great year Mario wise.
I was just on the Eshop there and noticed something different. When you move on to a game tile, after a second it shows a little sideshow of screenshots. Is that new? I'm on there often and have never noticed it.
Please don't say it's been like that for over a year.
@OorWullie According to GameXplain, apparently it's a new feature. I'd say it's a cool touch.
Also, finally caved in and brought Super Mario Maker 2 (I already mentioned that I only watched SMM2 players on YouTube over on NL's article about the update). And can I just say, wow. It's definitely been a while since I played a 2D Mario game! I feel like I just returned from a vacation of some sort, and the rules and mechanics of Mario are welcoming me with open arms.
I've played a couple of levels, 2 of which were Super Expert levels that I lost an embarrassing amount of lives in, and one minor annoyance is immediately sticking out to me... I run with the Y button and jump with the B button, and that presents an awkward situation between my thumbs and the right analog stick. Of course, this wasn't a problem on any other system because there weren't any analog sticks below their face buttons, but on the Switch the discomfort is immediately obvious, even if minuscule. I might use the Switch's button remap feature to jump with the shoulder buttons if I continue to get bothered with the discomfort (of course, using the remap feature will present new problems, but that's another discussion for another day).
Right now I'm just trying to complete Astral Chain's post-game before tomorrow's SMM2 update lands. I'm really excited for all the new things that are coming in and I want to relax and enjoy it as much as I can.
God first.

@NintendoByNature I'm pumped for the SMM2 update too, especially with the added power-ups and the world maker. Now I just wonder what kind of levels I'll make with these new toys Nintendo's giving us!
