I'm not as upset about the price. Ports cost money, but the missing features make me grumble grumble. Would have gladly bought it for 30 or on sale just because my backlog is huge if it had motion controls.

@Ryu_Niiyama Ports cost money, for sure, but there's no excuse, IMO, for charging $10 more for this on Switch than they did on other platforms at launch.
The lack of motion controls is unfortunate, but that puts it on par with other versions.
@Ralizah I don't know the manufacturing costs, dev manhours put in or the cut Nintendo is taking. So I'm not bothered by 10 dollars to play on my hybrid system. If it is that abhorrent to folks, Capcom games always go on sale after a point. But that is most certainly not my hill to die on. I just want good games on my system of choice. After that I'll gladly pay price of entry for my luxury hobby.
This is my opinion of course but honestly to hear gamers whine about money is like listening to yuppies whine about their yachts. Its a luxury hobby that has been fairly stable in price despite over 3 decades of inflation. Shrugs. If somebody is up in arms about ten bucks then all I can say is budget better or get a new hobby. You wanna talk telescope prices? Then I will gladly rant about "it's too dang high".
Anybody wanna donate to my 10inch LX850 fund? It's only 8 grand and some change.

@Ryu_Niiyama Okami launched at the same price point as it did on other platforms. So did the Revelations games, even though those also had a physical option. Why would these particular games be subject to extra hidden costs when those other ones weren't?
It's absurd, because those games were even more properly optimized for the system. Okami has touch AND motion controls for the celestial paintbrush. The Revelations games have gyro and motion gesture support.
A lot of their ports have sold very well on Switch. It's pretty clear that they're taking advantage of this demand by price-gouging passionate fans early on. And if people do support this early on, it's sending the message that continued price-gouging behaviors are acceptable for future Switch releases.
Nobody is saying the increased price is going to bankrupt them. It's about fair pricing standards across the various platforms. But, obviously, if that sort of behavior doesn't bother you, nothing I can say is going to change your mind. But I think you probably also know that "LOL get more money" is a cynical response that misses the point entirely.
What gets me with the pricing is that the same company charged $30 for Dragons Dogma and even put that on a 16GB cart. $30 for one of the best games ever made(imo) in Re4 isn't terrible per say, but it's like a different company priced the Re games on Switch.
@Ralizah Again, I have no idea what happened behind closed doors for them to make that decision. Pretty sure no one was twirling a mustache and talking about sticking fans where it hurts. Either way it is ten dollars. If that breaks the bank or is price gouging it's time to hang up the controller imo. I'd rather pay 30 and have the game on switch rather than only having the option for the Twins. Perhaps they re-crunched the numbers and realized that ROI required a higher price. I don't know, but at least I have the purchasing option.
I can't speak to Okami (I paid $340 for it on switch lololol. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I'M BUYING THIS GAME...I don't have a problem I swear. ). However for all we know a different dev team worked on it, it may have been easier to port, Kamiya might have thrown a fit....who knows. Either way it is what it is.
I hear what you are tying to say, however I'm letting you know now this is the one time I give no credence to an argument. I really have no sympathy at all for price complaints for a luxury. I love video games as much as the rest of yall but it isn't a need, and you pay for what you want. It's 30 dollars. Not a fan? Play one of the cheaper re-releases or an older version. I'll be sticking with the wii/wiiu version this time around due to lack of motion controls. Capcom can have all my Onimusha money though. Besides you can not tell me that they won't port all of these games another 4 or five times before either of us die. Even if I get hit by a bus tomorrow there will still be another RE4 port released before they pronounce me dead.
Also my response isn't cynical. Its pragmatic. I'm not saying get more money, I'm saying that this is a luxury. You pay for what you want. If you don't like the price, you are more than welcome to pass on it but it is an odd sticking point imo. I'm not swimming in cash or anything either, but I maintained this hobby while homeless (twice actually) so I just don't have any sympathy for it.

Serious question and please don't think I'm being a smart@$& or anything like that because I'm not . Im genuinely wondering. Do the motion controls make re4 that much better of a game? I only ask because I've played quite a few re games without motion controls and I've always loved them as is for the gore, the story, the ambience and zombie killing. Again, Im not being sarcastic
@Morpheel Getting back to lack of motion controls, that's what is annoying, Dragon's Dogma has touch screen functionality and it totally doesn't need it. So it is rather silly that they didn't take the extra time to port the wii version. However it was likely easier. So bad form on Capcom for that. I'll buy other ports though. I evaluate these on a game by game basis anyway. Although I wish they would just flippin port USFIV to the switch...sigh.

My guess is that they just didn't want to mess with the source code of the HD edition, and adapting the wii version would've probably been a lot of work. Basically an entirely new port, instead of just clicking export on the one they have already.
@NintendoByNature it's much more accessible and natural for those use of us who are used to fps pointer controls. Kinda like using a mouse in a computer.
@NintendoByNature This is my opinion personally but since RE4 had a number of QTE and context sensitive controls along with the new at the time of release camera angle, it works better with motion controls. I'm not a fan of shooting mechanics however, so the extra precision of the motions controls helped (If I play anything with guns I head over to mouse and keyboard on PC). I didn't finish the GCN version but I did finish the Wii version because of that.
@Morpheel Agreed. But just mildly annoying. I don't like RE enough to buy it a 3rd time anyway. I really bought those games back in the day because they were popular, not because I actually liked the genre.

I was actually looking forward to playing it, since the only other version I had was the wii one. And I never finished it back then.
Of course, silly old me lend it to someone else and they just keep forgetting to give it back. So having it on the switch would've been the best option.
And yeah, I just can't FPS with a joystick at all. At least not very well.
@Ryu_Niiyama@Morpheel fair enough. Just wanted to see what the thought process was. Either way I'm passing on 4 until it 1) goes on sale or 2) I hit a big lull in games to play. Re4 is something I wouldn't mind giving a 2nd shot since I first and last played it years ago at launch. Worst case, I suppose i can always grab it on Wii u if I feel the urge to try motion controls. I already have it on gamecube btw...just never had the drive to keep playing it. Again this was years ago though
@Ryu_Niiyama It's not really unreasonable or conspiratorial to say that they're price-gouging fans because of increased consumer demand on this relatively new platform. All corporations are, after all, machines designed to make money, and generally, unless they have a consumer advocate on board who is fairly influential, they'll charge as much as they think they can get away with.
With that said, I, likewise, have no sympathy for the argument that pricing disparities between platforms don't matter because they won't literally kill or bankrupt people. It's possible for these companies to abide by basic standards of fairness when it comes to pricing.
As it stands, most of their releases have been priced fairly, so I'm waiting to see if this signals a change in their pricing policy for Switch games in general, or if it's just an aberration. I'm sure they're also curious to see how these releases perform in comparison to other recent ports. Especially the Revelations games.
I'm struggling to imagine how you could have spent $340 on Okami, though. Some sort of imported limited edition release?
40 for the digital japanese version (which I didn't realize would adopt your SYSTEM language so I have to reboot whenever I want to play...sigh the way some devs handle region free really, really sucks)
300 for the limited edition. I'll gleefully admit that I bought it solely for the necklace. The game itself is still in shrink wrap...but it will go nicely next to my Amaterasu bust when that comes in lol.

I think my favorite SE I've ever purchased was Lunar 2 on the PS1 when it was new. Cool hardcover manual. Dozens of character stands. Best of all, though, was this great replica of Lucia's pendant. It was a fantastic package all-around.
They're not special editions, but I also really like the watches I got with the last two Zero Escape games on 3DS and Vita, respectively.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
I too hate it when developers assume I want to play their game in spanish just because my system is set to spanish, and then don't give me the option to change it in-game.
@Ralizah Yeah so funny story. So I am a mythology buff in general but went on a Shinto Religion and Mythology binge in highschool for my International Baccalaureate dissertation. (I wrote 30pages plus a 10page appendix on the history and nature of Shinto and its impact on the Japanese social structure and psyche and this was before wikipedia was really a thing. I've read the Nihongi and Kojiki in their entirety) So a game about Shinto mythology might have been "too Japanese for the Japanese" (okami sold poorly upon first release domestically) but it was practically written for me. I'm also a fan of Clover and the humor of games like Viewtiful Joe so they couldn't have suckered me into buying it more if they tried. To make matters worse the shortening of names (while leaving the Japanese sign posts or names in the cut-scenes that were prints) used to drive me nuts so I started importing as well. Also the title is a pun so that tweaks the grammar nerd in me as well. So as of now I have:
PS2
PS3 (Japanese)
Wii
Windows
PS4 (although I just gave that away actually)
Switch (digital Japanese)
Switch (physical Japanese)
Not to mention the sound tracks...there are some very good Taiko beats and sometimes I'll play them on my nagado. And I got the f4f Amaterasu statue that you will see NEStalgia pick on me about from time to time.
I might have a problem...send help.
Wait you got the watches? Lucky duck...Amazon canceled mine. Pretty much soured me on using them for games.

Yeah it is super annoying. Especially when I order a game in Japanese. I am sure some people like that but usually if I buy it in Japanese I want to play it in Japanese.
