Topic: The Nintendo Switch Thread

Just saw a Pokemon Go player walking on the street today.

About 1.5 hours until Nintendo's earnings report releases. Anyone wanna make a quick prediction on Switch hardware sales through the end of September?

Edit: For reference, it was at 19.67 million as of the end of June.

@IceClimbers It will be another 1.5 million Switch hardware sales. I am not expecting anything major, in fact perhaps even that number is too high. I am not optimistic about what Nintendo are about to say.

I predict it'll be at 21 million by the end of September and Xenoblade 2 would have sold 1.7m copies.

They're out. As of September 30th, the Switch has sold 22.86 million. This means it's surpassed the GameCube's lifetime sales of 21.74 million.

So an increase of 3.19M since June? Good numbers, and pretty cool to see it pass the GC already.

It'll be interesting to see how it'll fare this holiday with both Pokemon and SSB releasing.

@19Robb92 Should do very well. Last holiday season it did about 7.24 million. This holiday season has a heavier hitting lineup in comparison (Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go, Smash Bros Ultimate vs Super Mario Odyssey, Skyrim, Xenoblade 2). Add on the fact that last year's 4 big system sellers should continue to sell systems and people are aware of NSMBU Deluxe in January, then yeah it could definitely hit like 10 million sold this holiday.

Based on what I've read, it seems like Mario Kart is eventually gonna overshadow Mario Odyssey's sales. Which I guess is not surprising, looking back at the Wii era.

But yeah, Nintendo having a slower 2018 is reflected pretty hard in terms of what the big sellers on Switch are (even if most of this year's games have sold better than most versions of their franchises). But at the same time, it doesn't mean anything until we see how things are going in the last couple months of this year.

Also, 3DS games sales might be dead. Or at least are clearly are on their way out. Hilariously, the best selling 3DS game of this quarter was 310,000 people deciding to buy Mario Kart 7 in 2018.

This is not good... I'm sorry but they need to sell 17 Millions in 6 months to reach the objectives...

The PS4 sold 4 Millions from April to July for example...

I remember Nintendo announced that 18 millions Nintendo Switch were sold until 31th of march 2018. Now 22.86 millions, end of September... So, in 6 Months they sold, kind of only, 5 Millions Switch ? o_O

The hype is really collapsing...

@kkslider5552000 astonishing that so many people are still buying Mario Kart 7. I'm sure we'll see the same for 8 in a few years time.

I'm confident the Switch will do well this Christmas. Not only do we have Pokemon and Smash, but Zelda, Mario Kart, Odyssey and Splatoon are still around. I think a lot of families and people on the fence might make the dive.

They sold 5 Millions in 6 months (April to September).
Sony sold 4 Millions in 4 months (April to July).

It's not what I call "numbers close" Espacially when you take into consideration that the PS4 is a 5 years old system and the Switch is the new trendy stuff of the moment...

Trust me, Nintendo Switch will beat PS4 someday.
And when it happened, i won't see any worthiness from my PS4 anymore.
My PS4 is still LACK of Kiddie / Cartoonish games and i don't see any potential from PS4.

Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 both listed as 'TBA' rather than '2019' in the release schedule Nintendo have just published.

I don't expect Metroid Prime in 2019 but was certainly hoping for Bayonetta 3

The Switch failed to reach its estimates. When do we start the Seppuku pacts?

@Anti-Matter it will beat it someday. Maybe when they stop making PS4s anymore

Is Fire Emblem Three Houses still Spring 2019 according to the list? The fact we haven't seen anything since E3 feels like a possible delay.

@Grumblevolcano When they first announced it last year, it was slated for 2018. So another delay wouldn't be too surprising to me.

Oh no. We haven't heard about a game in 4 months. It must be delayed.

Or we can let them get their marketing done for the immediate November and December releases first?
