@NEStalgia "instead of $400+ on a GPU for $1000-2500 of other computer parts for a gaming PC..... sheer madness!" The hell are you talking about? You don't have to go for these expensive builds that costs more than all these consoles combined. You can go for a cheap build, you can go for a medium budget build. And with all these PC parts getting cheaper and cheaper you can build a PC that destroys these console to shreds.
Another thing. You can build a cheap PC and upgrade it. Like where are you console dudes getting this ultimatum that "$1500 pc or build nothing at all!".
@NEStalgia
gaming PC's are not prioritised, just optimized, you still have full function of all other software,
but as i always saw it, you can keep your PC (and most regular sized laptops) and just trade out parts when new software requires it, cheaper than going out and buying a new box, plus added bonus of PC backwards compatibility, you want to play a game from 20 years ago, you don't have to hope for a port, or hunt down an older system online or in a flea market or wait/hope for a mini console that only have half the games you like anyway, it's cheaper in the short and long term
alas, too many people use excuses like big bulky, good towers are only about an extra 50% to twice the thickness of your XB/PS, but a lot less cramped when you consider for those who have multiple consoles, plus usually a separate dvd player (not always, but usually) having to have have a huge spider web or cords everywhere
it's just the principal if Sony or Microsoft actually made upgradable game systems rather than new systems every time, they would have the market cornered and keep Nintendo out of the base console, (Nintendo could still keep the hybrids and portables, but consoles would be done for them)
they could be done like a server is setup, have a proprietized set of slots, memory, hdd, disk reader, motherboard, extra, ect, pull to only replace what you want, when you want, ect. full backwards compatibility with the previous consoles would sell them overnight alone.
maybe you've heard about the next system upgrade, maybe you don't feel it has enough games for you, so don't get the upgrade/s, or wait for more games or just wait for the next gen after that and discover it's a great one with a great library, get it and the very few games from the previous upgrade you didn't want
because it would still be a prioritized system, compatibility issues with hardware AND firmware and OS upgrades would not exist as many people use as an excuse with gaming PC's,
it's not up to Sony or Microsoft fully, if enough people demand it, they WILL make it...
Gamedolf the White..."One console to rule them all, one console to find them, One console to bring them all and in the gaming world, bind them !!!"
people just have to speak out
"If failure is the greatest teacher, how come we are not the most superior beings in the universe ???"
@MsJubilee what's the minimum build, links to parts at newegg/Amazon, your choice, that could run rdr2 at 4k native, solid 30fps?
Last pc i built for gaming was 2010 but the gpu alone was 400. 250 for cpu, 200 psu, 200 mobo, 200 or more for ram, that excludes hdds, case, windows, extra cooling, etc.
Maybe parts are cheaper now, but again, I've built several production machines in the last few years, and 1k is the base, with no gpu (onboard graphics only). I can't imagine where you guys are getting gaming rigs surpassing 1x for 500. It what gpu you're using. Isn't the new titan over 1k alone?
(That rig ate 3 gpus, so the actual cost was about 1200 just for gpus.)
@jhewitt3476 laptops? Last gaming laptop i tried also in 2010 was done msi gaming budget laptop for 1k. It barely ran alpha protocol, and non stop froze from overheating.
I imagine a pre verified pc with user interface sold asa console would cost much more thana commodity pc though. Valve tried that game and never even launched it.
@Grumblevolcano yeah. Not that there's much more going on in Playstation land than Nintendo land other than multiplats. But switch has nothing but smash and "everybody hates Pikachu".
@jhewitt3476 of course anyone with an alienware on a pc gaming form will be laughed off the board faster than a Nintendo fan on pushsquare. . It kind of just like buying a console: you pay premium for otherwise off the shelf, substandard parts. Always funny, you go to a console forum and people with premade pcs boast how consoles are inferior. You go to a pc form and anyone with a prefab is ridiculed as not a pc gamer. Heck, i used to be one of the people laughing.
@Grumblevolcano
News can't be happening 24/7. That said, we've actually had quite a lot to talk about recently, but it just seems nobody wants to talk about it.
Dark Souls Remastered and My Hero Ones Justice literally just released, and we have Diablo 3 dropping in a matter of days. Resident Evil 0, 1 and 4 announced for Switch as well as Vampyre. Ark Survival Evolved just got a release date too. Wolfenstein Youngblood has been confirmed for Switch, and Gear Club 2 got some pretty interesting gameplay footage released.
There has been no shortage of news, excitement or topics of discussion.
But in here, it gets a single passing mention and... that's about the extent of it. Very few seem to have an interest discussing the things that are actually happening
@JaxonH
personally, i hate October, November, but most of all December, my oldest daughter, 10/21, my wife 11/21, then Christmas 12/25, then my youngest daughter, 12/27, come January I'm friggin broke, LOL
so i will only be getting one game for myself in the rest of this year, but with so many games coming out in the next 60 days, I'm hard pressed what to pick
@jhewitt3476
My brother is 10/10, mom is 11/19, Christmas 12/25, so not quite is crammed as yours but still, it's a lot at once. I had $400 in eBay Bucks left over from a previous quarter though, so I used that to put towards Christmas gifts to lower the damage this year. That's helped a lot.
@link3710
Today, actually. Pete Hines confirmed "the next Wolfenstein" will be on Nintendo Switch, while explaining Fallout 76 simply couldn't work on the system. Since the next Wolfenstein game to release is going to be Wolfenstein Youngblood... there ya have it.
Exciting, right?!!! DOOM Eternal and Wolfenstein Youngblood, on Nintendo Switch. And both of these will have the benefit of being developed ground up with Switch in mind, in collaboration with Panic Button. Which, Panic Button even said they were working hand-in-hand with the development team to ensure better compatibility and decision making so the game will look better and run smoother, as opposed to porting it after the fact with a game that was developed without Switch in mind.
Youngblood in particular will be great for Switch via the co-op, if they make it local wireless. I'm not looking for a split screen co-op because I know that would be too demanding. But local wireless for two separate systems would be perfect and would ensure the game is playable long after the servers shut down.

They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@NEStalgia Well considering the discussion somehow went to some weird image cropping on the mural on the website near Little Mac (lol) that was discovered after the September Direct that just happens to be right about where one of the leaked characters is at, then yeah insane is definitely appropriate. Apparently it was just some glitch in the website and therefore just an insane coincidence though.
