@darkfenrir buying games doesn't, but while using my computer as intended I still have to deal with viruses/malware/etc every now and then. With my PS4 and Switch I don't.
@darkfenrir so what are you implying then...? You don't have to do anything malicious to get your computer harmed you know... You could just have bad luck.
@toiletduck Well just that usually, if I ever got infected was that I was looking for less than legal things... Like ever since stopping doing those because it's so tiring to do them and not to count sifting through various sites that you don't have idea the safety of, the latest problem I got is because of a Windows update to my sound driver :V so yeah I understand driver problems fine, but not viruses.
So yeah, it's mostly that I used my experience as base.
@Octane
actually a PC can play those games, 90% of PC's have more than is needed to play those games, some people use emulators that defeat the encryption on XB games, the systems are built as decrypters, the games are encrypted for a specific system, so yah, they are "dumbed down" because the onboard system software does not allow for the addition of extra software like you would find on a PC
it is a scam that the hardware companies got with the software companies to make those games and encrypt them
if you can't see this, so sorry, but again, as PC's and laptops become more powerful (than they already are) and the prices keep going down, people will notice and ask "why am i buying this ???"
I bought a refurbished laptop 6 years ago with all the same stats of the current XB1 for only $600, now I can get a similar model with same stuff for $400-$500, towers are even less than that
"if you let a thing happen and don't try to change it, it will get worse" (unknown Jewish person in WW2)
don't let the hardware companies dictate what you can or cannot have or fool you into thinking it can't be done, software go where the money is and if the customers demand "we want this", they will respond accordingly
@toiletduck
don't like updating drivers huh ???
got some bad news, you know those system updates you download, or that your game forces you to download onto your gaming systems ??? yah, they have drivers too, sorry

@jhewitt3476 You realise that everything you just said also applies to Nintendo, right?
It's not a scam. Sony and Microsoft make video games to sell their consoles; and they have every right to keep the exclusive. Now it doesn't really matter for Microsoft, because they also own Windows, so whether you buy a PC with Windows or an Xbox, you're paying them either way. Sony and Nintendo don't have that luxury, so they keep their games exclusive. Makes sense to me.
Unless you're willing to argue that it's a scam that Nintendo doesn't port their games to PC...
And if the portable aspect is matters to you, there are portable Windows devices; like the GPD Win; or gaming tablets that could also run Nintendo games (heck, even phones might be able to these days).
Honestly, if Atlus could be convinced to port their games to PC, then I could happily skip non-Nintendo consoles from this point on. PC is just a more flexible platform all-around.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Octane
no it is not the same, Nintendo didn't take a regular PC, alter it by disallowing other functions and calling it a game system, and most the innovations they implemented with the Wii & Wii U could not be done by a PC, Sony and Microsoft tried to copy some Wii functions, but not right because their disguised PC's weren't built for it and forget the Wii U, wasn't going to happen, Nintendo builds their systems from the ground up trying to bring new and unique things to the table, Sony and Microsoft take what is in store, attempt to simulate a function and call it a game system, yes, a huge difference
I don't see any vids and/or pages turning DS/3DS & Wii's/Wii U's into PC's, and the emulators for playing the DS/3DS' & Wii/Wii U's suck brass, but there are pages and vids EVERYWHERE turning PC's into PS's & XB's and PS's & XB's into PC's, easily (mostly by softmod)... because they already are PC's !!!
@jhewitt3476
For me PC is very complicated to play games, with a risk of Virus and Incompatible VGA Card / Graphic card.
Consoles / Handhelds are the easiest and simplest way to play games.
Just turn on the machine, insert the cartridge / disc / tap the Apps icon, then play the games.
Thinking about Best Specs ?
Who cares.
@jhewitt3476 I don't see why any of that matters, as it's the end product that should matter...
Anyway, no system is built from scratch. The Switch uses the same Tegra that can be found in systems like the Shield TV, and there was even an Android laptop that used the Tegra X. The architecture is similar to any other tablet and phone. So you just as easily make the argument that the Switch is just a tablet with a bunch of features locked off. But that just technology, you can't make everything from scratch, that would be pointless anyway.
''disguised PC was not built for Wii functions [motion control?]'' ..what? That's just a lack of propelling software, and the fact that neither the 360 or the PS3 came bundled with a motion controller.
And yeah, the PS4 and Xbox One use the same 86x architecture as PCs, because it makes porting between the systems a whole lot easier. What would you propose? Continuing the outdated PowerPC architecture? Another Cell processor like the PS3? Because that was certainly the best idea of the previous generation.
I fail to see why you would want to turn any console into a PC, nor do I see the relevance. Like, what's the point in trying to run Android on a 3DS? ...actually, I looked it up and people have been talking about this, but apparently the 3DS' GPU would never be able to run it; the system is too weak for that purpose.
@Anti-Matter
as for viruses, the systems are not immune to them, like PC's it all depends on what you do and where you go, but to upgrade your PC to the next level (on the offhand you need to at all) by adding or upgrading the hardware can cost a lot less than buying a whole new system
you will have to spend a little time, (usually less than ten minutes) to find out the right graphics card, ram, cpu, ect. & usually requires no real special knowledge, I was working on computer repair/upgrades for years, saving to pay for my college ambitions one day, I learned a whole lot about them and still keep up on today's puters too, (mainly because I can't wait days for tech at the university to come fix a computer failure i can do in 10minutes), early on when learning about computer hardware, I was disgusted by the fact shops charge you out the tukus for repairs or upgrades (not including cost of the part they jack up also).
today it's so much easier, past 20 years people have had Google to tell them how to do everything, wish i had Google back in my day, but it's all good, but if you go to reliable, trustworthy sites and get software from them, and don't sign up for just anything, anywhere, no emails you didn't ask for ect., viruses are a very RARE issue
"If failure is the greatest teacher, how come we are not the most superior beings in the universe ???"
@jhewitt3476
I was thinking like this.
Which should i choose ?
A bulky PC that stuck on electricity forever with more money to upgrade
OR
A nice piece of Console / Handheld that just turn on the power, insert the game and play it right away despite of weaker than PC ?
For me, i will choose Consoles / Handhelds, Perfect for gamer who doesn't need to think about upgrading PC Specs + consider PC is NOT for gaming but for working (Microsoft Words, Power Point, Corel Draw, etc)
Oh, btw. Weaker than PC it doesn't mean the games will be ruined.
I’m not advocating for or against consoles or PC’s (or heck, even Mac’s) - they both fulfill similar AND different needs, either way if you’ve got the cash then get both and enjoy the best of those worlds..?
>takes off idealistic hat<
The only thing irking me with consoles is that they’re becoming more & more like PC’s with continually needing updates/crashing/etc. I get with the increased complexity & connectivity it’s a necessary evil, but the whole reason I fell in love with consoles was because of the ease of use/comfort factor - sometimes now it can take 20 minutes to actually get playing a game if you hit a badly timed update (especially if you get hit by the BS on xbox where an update goes live whilst playing & it kicks you!). It’s this bit - the actual ‘pickup & play’ part - that has me so in love with the switch, heck, even the updates are speedy as?! Such a far cry from the Wii-U; have seen servers start up quicker than that thing, & who can forget the PS3 updates back near launch?
@Knuckles-Fajita Uh kinda? it was more that the combat was terrible. I have it on pc and I think i got about 35 percent but the type of vamp I was playing was useless at boss fights. And i didnt want to go on a murder spree to "get gud". I wouldnt mind it if there were other ways to deal with boss fights to go with the "good vampire" playstyle.
I dont remember any major glitches. While AC:Sparta crashes daily for me.

@jhewitt3476 why is it so important for you that others share your opinion? You like PCs for gaming. Obviously, certain consoles don't provide any added value for you. Others (including me) don't like PCs for gaming, for various reasons. Why can't you just leave it at that?
