Finally finished Battle Chef Brigade. What a very fun romp. I'd not liked the character switch originally but enough time had passed that I'd forgotten mostly how to control the main character and I ended up liking the overall story. Dev is now on my week1 purchase list.

@Ralizah Let me butt in lol. I love it tbh. I know it's getting hate but the core experience was enough for me. It scratched that AW itch.
Just a few of my complaints would be you always have Fog of War and Japanese spoken language which normally doesn't bother me but when I'm tired I hate reading. It has most of what made AW great imo. It even has secrets in nearly every mission to find that are worth finding and that was some of the fun for me.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
That's good to hear! I've been on pins and needles waiting for more information about Wargroove. But even that is more medieval-y, so it wouldn't entirely scratch the AW itch.
Tiny Metal has been getting hate, but I get the distinct impression it's probably the irrational sort of hate that Yooka-Laylee got.
Not sure how I'll feel about the fog of war aspect, but Japanese-only audio won't bother me at all. It's how I watch most of my anime, after all.
@Ralizah You get use to the fog of war after a while. One thing I did notice is in AW I would always let the enemy come to me but in TM it's better to take it to them.
If you do get it I want to give you a few pointers I didnt know till after I beat the game lol. Nothing spoiler though.
Spoony, move your butt! Kidding, thanks for chiming in. I'm in about the same boat as Spoony It is scratching my AW itch (although I mean did they just LIFT AW and the Tom Clancy 3ds game and call it a day?). Story is getting weak for me (I don't like the MC at ALL) but the strategy is fine. No qualms with the language, but Japanese text or audio are never detractors from a game for me. I have not seen any slow down aside from the LONG load time to start the game but after that it seems to be fine.
I like the variety of units so far (even though I don't think I'm using the radar units very well) but I'm wishing that I could give my infantry a ride (if you can I missed how to do that). The fog of war kinda sucks because you can't see anything so sometimes its just a hang back and see what units rush you kind of thing unless you want to win by attrition...but as much as I don't like it do because you don't know everything the enemy is doing in actual war either. So far I recommend, it hasn't done anything new but if Nintendo doesn't want to do a AW this is a decent replacement (not as charming character-wise though).

I think we’ll get Yokai Watch 3 before 4, I’ve never played this series so I’m not sure how story driven it is, but since it’s a numbered entry I assume we’ll get 3 on 3DS before 4 on Switch. Either that or they’ll just rename Yokai Watch 4 to avoid confusion.
Just so everyone's aware, Cave Story+, The End is Nigh, VVVVVV, The Binding of Issac: Afterbirth are all on sale for 20%.
Decided to quad-dip on Cave Story+ despite that really high price, and wow they've put in quite a bit of great QoL gameplay tweaks into the game. After playing that game for like 80+ hours total, those QoL additions will make replaying the game soooooo much nicer.
Probably gonna double-dip on VVVVVV. Maybe.
Not a fan of rogue-like games so I'll pass on Binding of Issac, and I don't think it'll change my mind at all.
Might get The End is Nigh though.

@EvilLucario Do you think VVVVVV is worth the price? I’ve been craving a 2D platformer, but I only have $10 to spare, so I’ve been debating between VVVVVV or VS Super Mario Bros.

@TheTetrisGuy VVVVVV is a really damn fun game. It's not quite a traditional 2D platformer since "jumping" is you just flipping gravity. It's really short, but very replayable. I don't know if this is in the Switch version, but in the 3DS version there were extra levels created by the community (and handpicked for the game) that were way harder than the base game.
I haven't played VS Super Mario Bros, but if you've generally already played Mario 1 and Lost Levels, I think it's safe to say you're better off with VVVVVV. If not, idk, but still VVVVVV is a ton of fun.

@EvilLucario Ok, I think I’ll give VVVVVV a try then. I’ve been a little hesitant to try it on Switch, given how it’s a lot cheaper on Steam and 3DS but I’ll definitely check it out one way or another.

How's the co op in CaveStory+? Been looking for a less stressful co op game after the SO and I have been playing Soulsborne type games nonstop for weeks now
@MisterPi I did a test run with two Joy-Cons and while I think it'll be fine for a normal playthrough, do NOT go for the true final boss in co-op unless your partner is good at the game. If one of you dies, you have to start over from your last save point, and the run for the true final boss is hard if you don't know what you're doing.
The camera follows P1 so P2 can't wander off. If P2 is out of screen for too long, they're immediately warped to P1 after a few seconds.
Overall I don't see anything wrong with co-op. The game isn't balanced around it though so it might be a bit too easy, but it should take you two a good 3-4 hours to beat the game. Most likely less though.
Nothing much to say, I am a little shocked that the original Legacy Collection 1+2 isn’t coming first though, I was for sure that would have released first.
