Germany is very often more strict that other regions. I must take a look at some videos to see what it's all about but I can guess from the images. Japanese smut.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm gonna quote one of my former housemates who said something so true but not many think about.
You call this typical "Japanese Smut" as you eloquently put it. Let's put down the pitchforks at what is and isn't acceptable in different cultures for a moment and take that second word.
Smut. Something sexualised. That term is usually used by those who object to sexualisation in media as "Smut".
Well to quote my housemate, you can't really object:
Now if we were to dredge up the censorship debate again...I could see this being a case where people using that word is accurate, as opposed to using it for localisation changes they don't agree with forgetting some things don't fly in certain cultures.
This is a game that cant and most likely WONT be localised specifically for Germany, due to how wrapped around the core concept it is it would be almost making a new game anyway.
What bothers me is...this game isn't to be sold there but others in the series are? It's not like, from what I know, there is anything against German law in it, like the obvious now-illegal there WW2 imagery.
It's not excessively violent. It's not endorsing mass murders. It's a shooter about spraying pheromones.
Sadly I bet you if a game came out that replaced the girls with objectified flowers and bees as the gun, there would be no issue. Ah well.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's highly suggestive, but, if Double Peace (the last one that released on PS4) is any indication, it's hardly smut. I'd actually go so far as to say it's weirdly sweet, although I can fully understand someone not wanting to play it.
Pretty bad when Germany is refusing to rate games that even Australia is willing to give ratings to.
Thankfully, the Switch and its games aren't region locked, so any interested Germans shouldn't have too hard a time importing it from somewhere else.
Can't sit and pitch a fit about something being smutty when sorry to say, that's how your ass arrived in the world.
People have the right to be against sexualization in media. People have the right to be against being exposed to sexualized things and sexual winks in general, because despite the fact we were made by sex, it is not something we choose ourselves back then. It was somebody else's choice. If one don't choose something you can't talk to him like it was a decision made by him. So actually there is no contraddiction if one don't want sexualization in media or things like this.
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
He referred to it as "Smut". The joke was "How can you say that when just about EVERYTHING is smutty."
God knows daytime TV is full of it, games are full of it, life is full of it. The world is permanently sexualised for some reason (Probably something instinctual about humans I guess?).
I was poking fun at the notion that THIS is "Smut", when there is far, far, far, far, far, far worse out there readily available in Germany.
And for reference, I'm not fond of sexualisation. I feel if it serves no purpose other than to have it there (David Cage...) then why? Even then, justifying it as part of a character's story is...difficult...because if you need to portray some kind of relationship....best to do that without resorting to "And then they banged".
Nuance makes a good story - shock value does not.

Because humans are sexual creatures and they enjoy sexually attractive people and things.
Some people aren't going to be comfortable with that, and that's fine so long as they don't try to force their values on me by trying to ban or censor the things they're uncomfortable with.

@Ralizah You are right but at the same time what YummyHappyPills said is often true, smut is everywhere, daytime tv, games and so on. It is not always like that but sometimes you really feel like that and people who dislike that or aren't comfortable with that should have other choices too as well as it is absolutely your right to enjoy those thing if you like them
@LuckyLand I'm not fond of the word "smut," as it's incredibly loaded. I do agree that you see sexualized media content everywhere, though, and it seems like, more often than not, there's a double standard with regard to the way censors approach sexual Japanese media versus sexual Western media.
Because, let's be candid: the sexual content in something like GTA V is vastly more explicit than any of the content in a lot of these Japanese games that have been banned from various countries, like Gal Gun 2, Valkyrie Drive, MeiQ, etc.
Heck, multiple God of War games featured topless women that you can sometimes have relations with.
But yeah, I agree that if a person is uncomfortable with sexualized content, there is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling that way and avoiding it.

If we are going to be extremely candid, how can people be okay with the western show Game of Thrones and all THAT does sexually...yet turn their eyebrows at Bayonetta and stuff like Gal Gun?
Like I don't get it. Western media puts a lot more emphasis on sex for shock factor, which lets be real here, is probably a disservice.

A glance at that link shows that Gun Gals 2 sexualizes teenage girls. That is quite a bit different from the sexualization of adult women in Western media. I get it, I don't really like either... But lets be honest here, sexualizing teenage girls is straight up creepy. I don't care if they're anime, it's creepy. There's no way around it.
At this point, I think Nintendo must be saving it for a rainy day. Just like Pikmin 4. I also think the NES and SNES Classic Mini were made to try and get people to buy games they already own, again. And it's clearly worked. Nintendo has milked the Virtual Console for years, making us buy numerous iterations of the same game again and again. The Switch is a doddle to develop for, we know that, especially comparedto Wii U. Look at HAMSTER and their never-ending conveyor belt of NEO-GEO games. And when it does launch, I bet it'll be a different method of purchase. Nintendo won't be happy with letting us transfer the games for a nominal fee, like what happened from Wii to Wii U. It's clearly going to be tied into the online fee.
