@Octane Thank you. I think I made some good points. I search the site to try and find the most appropriate thread to post a comment. I had searched "virtual console". It will be very interesting to see when it's finally revealed. Nintendo are sitting cushty at the moment, they can do as they please. I had more to say but I've lost my memory. In the morning, perhaps.

I hope the VC isn't exclusively tied to membership of the online service out of principle but if that's what everyone else wants I don't hold it against them. I know this has been discussed to death but I really hope there is GameCube vc.

@bluemage1989 It's not something anyone would want, rather something that sounds likely to happen and people will just accept as a compromise (the logic that VC locked behind the online service is better than no VC at all).

It gets better...

There is no spoon.

VC is a relic of the past. It's done. We are not going to see Virtual Consol on Switch. The reasons for that are multifaceted but to list some of the main ones, it would be fear of the destruction of the indie and middle class markets on Switch, fear of backlash for paying full price for those who've partaken in the past, and the necessary reaction to that fear of lowering price for an upgrade program which would significantly lessen profits, profits which probably were never worth losing the indie and middle class markets in the first place, much less when they're are slashed by 75%

Online Classics is the future. It's their way of justifying full price, avoiding an upgrade program or backlash for lack thereof, and drip feeding a small enough number of games so as to not impact 3rd party sales.

It sucks... but I've come to terms with it. Think anyone still expecting virtual console is in for more than a little disappointment. I truly believe this. And if I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it

@JaxonH Just a bit burnt out on social media is all. Not much to say either. Also trying to play more games then just talk about them. I still read most of the comments here and the news stories I want but too busy to comment or lazy more like it lol

I'm not going anywhere though. You guys are stuck with me for quite some time I'm afraid! 😛

@Spoony_Tech
Right on. Ya I'm busy gaming myself, I do a few hunts in monster Hunter every day when I get home from work but I've been playing for over 100 something hours so I really don't have it in me to do more than that every day.

I need DQ Builders and Bayonetta 2 to spice up the rotation. And I still need to play Shadow of the Colossus. But I'm trying to milk it because I just got Xenoblade and MH back to back, it's gonna be a while before the next 2 seriously hype games come along (think Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles 4 are the next duo- I need my top shelf strategy). Smoke em if you got em, as my high school counseler used to say

Yeah I don't think we'll see the VC service return. The pricing structure received a lot of complaints over the years and I honestly don't think anything outside of the same handful of titles sold well enough to make it worth crippling their indie scene.

I think the Classic Games Selection, the Classics line of plug and play consoles, and probably collections sold for like $30-$40 are how they'll handle their legacy content in the future

There's one thing no VC at all doesn't answer and that's the GC/Wii games on the Shield. The Classic Games Selection is only going to be NES games (I think SNES was removed from the description when they got rid of the 1 month ownership limit?).

It's really annoying the lack of info on the paid online service. I want to start Xenoblade 1 but I don't want to start it and like 1 week later a Direct happens which announces it for Switch.

Why people defend Indys so much is beyond me. My experience with them for the most part is they are nothing but overpriced garbage. With the account system in place when the VC does start it should allow our past purchases to show up and be ready to download day one.

Well... I found some Indies are even better gems than the so called AAA, and usually they tend to be outside the realm of conventional.

I know there's tons of trash indies, but not all of them are bad. Heck, for example Cuphead is indie, and that sure got a ton of acclaim! (not my type of game, but it's still excellent game)

Detention has appeared on the UK Eshop. It will release on the 1st of March for £9.49.It's one creepy looking game. The PC and PS4 versions received really good reviews with a Metacritic score of 83% and 84% respectively. All but one of the 26 reviews gave it an 8/10 or higher. On Steam it has 10/10 from 5,337 reviews so it looks like we're in for a real treat. It's only a short game, around 3 hours and from what I've read, is best experienced in one sitting but the story and gameplay are supposed to be really good, has multiple endings and is genuinely scary. It will be a first for me to play a game like this, really can't wait. Layers of Fear up first though.

This is great news. The Switch needs more horror games imo.

I see no reason why they wouldn't let you pay for VC if you wanted to. I don't think I've ever bought more than one or two VC titles, simply for the reason that I didn't want to own everything on a Wii, knowing the Wii U was about to release, and seeing how the Wii U was a commercial flop, I didn't want to own a VC collection on that system either, because who know how long they were going to support that system. This would've been the perfect time to buy some their older titles.
