@YummyHappyPills Sorry, but the social features aren't exciting at all for me. Cloud storage, themes, folders, and VC, though? That would make the Switch feel so much more... complete as a system.
Fingers crossed that this is real, although it being fake wouldn't surprise me either.

Well it wouldn't be a port. But a brand new reimagining ala Link Between Worlds. They haven't done straight ports of anything before the N64 era in a long time. It's too old for a port. They've already released as VC on 3DS anyways.
Where did that pic come from? I want to believe it but, where/how did this surface?
If Nintendo allows voice chat on the system, they'll kill it. That's the one thing they've needed to do. And if it works regardless of what game you're playing... they'll finally be fully ushered into the modern age of gaming.
Please be true. Why now though? If the online isn't coming til later... unless they're gonna show this in the direct. Still, how did this surface, and from whom?

@JaxonH From a YouTube channel, as youll see its a video, but there are aspects that don't add up, so its a very elaborate hoax I believe. It's being reported by sites.
And bro. I said A Link Between Worlds. The 3DS game. From 2013. A port.
What we are speculating is if they are asking for review quotes about A Link Between Worlds the 2013 game specifically, for the purpose of a HD port.
Not a remake. Not A Link to the Past or anything pre-N64 as you say. The 3DS game.

Btw, it says 12.9gb in data management. Which is more than the game size. The cloud storage would likely be for save back ups only. So I don't see how it's eating up less space than it should.
Also, this doesn't look fake. I'm not saying it's real but this looks legit. Do you know how hard it would be too fake this? Dang near impossible imo. Just, everything about it seems authentic. Hard to believe because it seems too good to be true but it does seem genuine.
The only way this could possibly be fake, I think, is if hackers have the ability... but I don't think they've gotten far enough to modify the menu to that full extent.
edit
Nvmd. I see, that's how much space is left. I get it now
Like when he unplugs a USB headset, it reacts accordingly as you would think. And if its a composited video, its FAR too well done to be wasted like this.
That's what's weird but what really kills it for me is the file sizes, and the fact that it would imply version 5.0.0 adds EVERYTHING Nintendo fans have wanted in one go.

Ya, it seems too good to be true. Literally everything we've wanted, and then some. And that's not how Nintendo rolls.
Apparently the YouTube icon is outdated as well. And I noticed the folder square was slightly mis-sized from the other icons.
Does seem to be fake, but gosh dang they did a great job on it. Shame. The folder saying virtual console is what really drives home being fake to me though. It's pretty clear Nintendo is not going to release traditional virtual console. It would be arcade classics, not VC. It's like he threw that in there just because he knew everyone wants VC.

@JaxonH Pretty sure that's just a custom named folder.
That being said, I agree, VC isn't coming back, or at least as we know it. Them avoiding that term is likely for a reason. I think the Classic Games Selection attached to the online subscription and perhaps some collections will replace the traditional VC. Either that or the VC service does return, but the "Virtual Console" branding gets dropped completely.
That's unbelievable. If It is indeed fake and surely it must be,how on earth have they pulled that off? That's got to be the most convincing fake I've ever seen, even with the couple of errors that have been picked up.
We are hearing word that the icon used is just a dummy icon used in testing and not the actual application of Mario kart 8 Deluxe, hence the lack of it in storage.
But on top of that it's been noted that while the YouTube logo in the media folder is indeed the old one...it's also that logo on PS4..
Guys it could maybe real. I really, really don't know.

@OorWullie IF this is real. In the what the hell event this update is real it will answer all the complaints about the online service, as it will be available via your phone, but not mandatory.
It will be an OS level lobby system.
Folders, yay. Themes yay. Internet yay.
I mean...this is Nintendo....they wouldn't suddenly answer all our requests at once...right...

The idea that they'd add basically EVERYTHING that's been requested in one update though? Way too good to be true.
Seriously, if that's real, they'd be adding:
Themes
Folders
Icon Sorting
On system voice chat
Party Chat
Messaging
Cloud storage
System level microphone support
Internet browser
Not to mention an implied VC and the launch of more media apps.
There'd literally be nothing left that I can think of other than improving the video recording. It'd honestly make me concerned about future system updates where they do stuff for the sake of it and it leads to a slow bloated mess.
When's the last time we got 2 new Zelda games on the same system back to back the year after? Not since the CDi days, which is a poor example at best. So really, the NES was the last time.
"Same system" is completely meaningless given the fact that Nintendo effectively has one platform now. I'd argue that you should probably throw that part of the equation out of the window. And in any case nobody is talking about two big 3D Zeldas launching in the same year. We're talking about a 3D Zelda and a 2D Zelda coming out with almost a two year gap between them. Which, when you look at it like that, has been more or less what has happened consistently for the last two decades.
Also, this doesn't look fake. I'm not saying it's real but this looks legit. Do you know how hard it would be too fake this? Dang near impossible imo. Just, everything about it seems authentic. Hard to believe because it seems too good to be true but it does seem genuine.
It's very slick but it's just a menu so it'd be super easy to fake. And given they show it on a monitor in a poorly lit room they wouldn't even have to fake a working menu. They'd just have to edit footage captured from the Switch menu and put it on a monitor. And that's the thing that made me think it was fake. Not the inconsistencies in the menu but the fact that they decided to record it off-screen on a monitor.
In any case there is only one scenario I can think of where the "leak" would make sense. If NoA was sent footage of the new menu so they could look over it to check that it makes sense to an English speaker. Remembering that NoA wouldn't be developing or testing system software. So there being inconsistencies would make sense, what they'd get would be mockup. Even so there are still two things that don't make sense.
1. If you had footage wouldn't it be easier just to leak the file itself?
2. If you worked at NoA why would you risk your job, especially for system software.....
