@Peek-a-boo Look at it this way: you could always buy it and then resell it for MSRP if you end up not wanting to keep it.
@EvilLucario Gunvolt Striker Pack AND Mighty Gunvolt Burst for less than $40?
Urgh. I might have to start loosening my "no backlog" policy.
@Spoony_Tech I doubt it will. They'll probably have side teams working on DLC content for these games. That's how it usually seems to go, anyway.
I'm not thrilled with DLC, though. Most of the time there's not enough content to justify the extra expense. ESPECIALLY in the case of Xenoblade 2, which has a $30 season pass. Unless it has 20+ hours worth of story content, I'm not paying for it. BotW's expansion content is just barely meaty enough to justify the $20, imo.
I guess Nintendo being run by a person primarily interested in business and profits has its ups and downs.
For Nintendo to expect to shift 20 million units in a single year would mean that they expect sales to improve greatly rather than decrease, as one would expect, and that they have some big sellers in the works like Animal Crossing and perhaps plans for Pokemon to release in 2018 also.

Not a huge fan of the dlc comment. Hope they don't focus so much on it that it starts to affect when and how often we get new games.
Yeah, I hadn't ever really thought about that until @Octane mentioned it in a conversation we were having about Rockstar Games a while back (Rockstar's game output has declined rapidly since they 'discovered' DLC/MTA's etc) ..it certainly seems to be the pattern: more DLC = fewer actual games released
I hope that they just try to approach DLC on a game-by-game basis - they seem to have struck a reasonable balance in recent times (2 DLC packs for Zelda, then move on - support Splatoon 2 for a year, then move on etc) ..anything that threatens to disrupt that balance though could be a cause for concern
Shin Megami Tensei V was first teased at the Switch reveal event back in January and was officially announced in October with a brief trailer. That trailer didn’t feature any gameplay footage – because, as it turns out, there really isn’t any gameplay that’s fit to be shown off yet. In the same group interview with various Japanese developers that also revealed Level-5’s Switch focus next year, Shin Megami Tensei series producer Kazuyuki Yamai touched on the game’s current state of development.
They are currently in the “scrap and build” phase, meaning that they are trying out various gameplay concepts to find out what works and what doesn’t on a trial-and-error basis. Yamai states that since this is the first mainline Shin Megami Tensei title on a home console in a while, he’d like to develop the game properly without any compromises. He would also like to properly reveal the game soon to show off how it plays, but asks fans to be patient for a while longer.
You see, people? SMT V is NOT a 2018 game. It might not even be a 2019 game.
@Ralizah Which is odd because I remember a lot of people saying it was.
Cant remember why.
At the same time why did you walk into this thread announcing you were right like you had something to prove? People were simply saying "It may be 2018, because they didnt confirm it isnt".
Thats the thing. Just like with XC2 that everyone said would be delayed, we had no reason to believe it would be until they said so. In the end it wasnt.
With this, they never said it wasn't 2018, so the chance was there.
My rule of thumb is unless a company specifically confirms or denies it, there is equal chance either way.

@Ralizah I was never one that thought it would release next year. Especially as long as Tokyo Mirage Session took to release. Not to mention games like Persona 5.

@YummyHappyPills Why did I post news about a game? Because this is the Nintendo Switch thread, and SMT V is a game that a lot of people are looking forward to.
@YummyHappyPills I think you're looking for things to get upset about if you're reading that much into my comment. It's hardly something I wanted to be "right" about in the first place.
@Spoony_Tech Yeah, Atlus takes its time developing games. Which is likely why they're basically perfect on release. I remember when Nintendo was like that.
@Ralizah Hey youre the one who came in acting high and mighty because you could prove some people wrong on something that was never confirmed no denied.
I calls em like I sees em.

@YummyHappyPills To be fair I've seen quite a few people assume it was coming next year. I personally think Metroid Prime has a better chance of making it before SMT V.

@Spoony_Tech Honestly dont asdume anything with game releases. Until its the day it comes out dont be hopeful but also dont expect delays.
@Ralizah Im about as thin skinned as a bull. I was just pointing out your choice of words were less than savoury.
Personally Id have just left the link and the developer comments. I dont see why people thought it was 2018, probably the gaming media once again assuming for us.
You know. Like Dark Souls on the system. Thats a thing apparently (At this point if the media says it I look in the exact opposite direction).
SMTV will come when its ready, to the Switch. 2018 is already quite happy with pOT, Wolfenstein, Yoshi, Kirby Star Allies, Fire Emblem, lots of creative indies and maybe something from a western publisher who knows.
@Dev Im surprised Nintendo doesnt copyright claim.
Ha ha. Internet humour. Seriously thats all people who do anything creative with Nintendo stuff think is gonna happen.

@NaviAndMii Yep. Just like it's economically viable to double down on MTX, rather than develop new games. The return per dollar spend on MTX by the developer is a lot higher than actual game development. And it sucks, because publishers will follow the money. DLC is in the same boat I think. Not as viable as MTX, but it's an easy way to sell re-used assets for 33% or 50% of the price of the original game. And let's be honest, you should be glad if the DLC offers anything substantial compared to the main game, but you're never getting the same 'dollar per content' out of it as you would get out of the main game. Anyway, DLC is fine I think, just don't overdo it. Not every game needs it.
@Octane Meh. Im returning to my neutral stance on things. The moment I have a view on something people are down my throat.
So from now one all Ill say to new info is "Thats nice", because at the end of the day its a simple product designed to entertain us briefly (comparatively) and and anything more than acknowledging it exists is having an opinion on the matter

@YummyHappyPills He was just telling everyone on here SMT 5 is not gonna be a 2018 title or even 2019.Cause a lot of people have been getting their hopes up for a 2018 release, but it isn't possible. Don't know why you went attacking him.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
@MsJubilee Because in my neck of the woods (geographical location) saying the phrase "You see people?" Is condescending. I dont appreciate people who talk down on others because at the end of the day we are all carbon based atomic constructs.

@Dev I'd really like a Neon Yellow Joy-Con and a Neon Green Joy-Con to complete my set - but to do that I'd either have to:
buy both the Neon Yellow pair and the Splatoon 2 pair and just sell the 'spare' Yellow and Pink Joy-Con
or buy each individually on eBay for an inflated price
or put my faith in a stranger to trade with
...none of which are particularly appealing options
I wish that we could just order the specific custom colour combination that we'd want off of the website or something instead - I'm not particularly attracted to any of the current pre-packed Joy-Con bundles, but I'm also conscious that I'm limiting my local multiplayer experience by only having 2 controllers
Very much a 'first world problem' of course (not gonna cry about it!) ..but I'd still like to see the ability to make custom Joy-Con combinations rolled out worldwide (as I believe you can in Japan?)
EDIT: @YummyHappyPills I really doubt that @Ralizah meant it the way you took it - never comes across like that type of person to me
All I care about is getting a joycon with an actual D-Pad on it. I shouldn't have to mod and risk breaking one of my expensive controllers just to be able to properly play a side-scroller.
@Tsurii I'm going to riot if they turn SMT V into an idol game as well.
