But man...the past year happened and...I dont know. On PS4 it makes no difference it all installs anyway but on Switch...not only do I kinda want all my games accessible, I want them...you know...on time.
But man. I do love physical copies.
Oh I just remembered. My copy of Samus Returns was a few days late too.

@YummyHappyPills Apparently their strategy is working on you.....
I had a few (in the US) late preorders due to Amazon back a few months ago. Recently it got better (we'll see about Xenoblade....usually for me they ship it OVERNIGHT the night before it's due to arrive.....if they do it by midnight it's usually fine. If they don't do it until 3:00AM it ends up missing the release day. They don't seem to care, but in the US we have Amazon's own carrier for about 70% of shipments now, not sure if you have that there yet or not (you will.) So if I don't see it by midnight I know there's a 25% chance of getting it tomorrow. Though I'm still finishing FE:Warriors and just getting into Rabbids for the first time.
I've started ordering some things from Best Buy now that I'm a GCU member (thanks to Amazon not stocking L.A. Noire at all for ANY of the re-release platforms.) And I've done GameStop for a few things (including hardware) because they're the only reliable Nintendo dealer. GameStop always delivers late, we'll see about Best Buy (I pre-ordered Doom VFR there since they had it on sale for Cyber Monday AND took my GCU discount), and XC2 is Amazon.... Not sure if Amazon's issue is that Amazon ships down to the wire past when carriers will pick up (rarely have that problem with non-games) or if Nintendo is delaying their shipments until the last minute since their shipping process is likely to end up breaking street dates often.
But wow, you have otherwise really bad luck on ordering things....
I tell you what I don't like about physical though: modern PC games. I bought a physical copy of Football Manager for PC - put the disc in my drive - and it just redirected me to Steam to download the full game! ..it was a voucher masquerading as a physical game! ..that really annoyed me!
..my brother had a similar situation when he sent his friend (who was on tour in Afghanistan with the Army) a PC game to play on his laptop in his down time - only to discover that it wasn't playable off the disc and, being in Afghanistan, the guy wasn't even able to download it either - obviously, that's quite an unusual situation (and I don't know if it's true of all modern PC games) but it wouldn't have happened back in the good ol' days! **grumble grumble**
@JaxonH LOL, given my dislike for horror, I'd have to pass on that free copy. Even if it were all on the cart. @Spoony_Tech I agree with Jaxon though, split Joycon really is the reason to game on a Switch Certain games, mostly just Splatoon I feel better with the Pro...it suits the unified motions of each hand being more reliable, but most other games, FE:W, Rabbids, BotW, Disgaea, RMX, thumper, etc, I've found split joycons are SO liberating and comfortable.....(makes me cringe to HAVE to use a DS4 on PS4.) Wish I could have played ARMS that way, but since it automatically kicks into the motion controls that I didn't prefer in that game I had to use the pro or gripped controls.
@NaviAndMii Yeah, PC has been like that for a decade.....that's why I left PC and went back to Nintendo and Playstation when I did. Steam.....gamers love steam because "good service!", "cheap prices!" but I will only ever remember Steam as the company that ruined PC gaming and tried to do even worse until the courts stopped them.
@YummyHappyPills Wow. Are they always shipping late or do you just have a sucky regional postal sorting center? Mine runs hot and cold. I mean Amazon has had a few known issues this past year in the US with late shipping of Nintendo....could be NoA's fault for all I know though.
As for GAME, are their pices higher on launch day than other stores though? I would think everyone's charging MSRP? How about GameStop, do they still have their UK operations (online?) They're the last place I'd normally recommend, but at least they're better than what I've heard of GAME.....
@Grumblevolcano LOL, wait, EA leaked it? How does EA even know it, I'd have thought they were smashing their noses up against Reggies office window trying to find out what's going on by now, wiping the fog off every now and then. Unless they're bringing Battlefront and it's lootboxes to Switch....
@Grumblevolcano I've never really kept tabs on the Game Awards as a show (I'm usually only interested in the nominations/winners) ..they usually have a few reveals etc do they? - might have to give it a watch then!
Is there a way at all that I can play it on TV without using the dock? Got my switch coming tomoz and don't have screen protector yet and don't like the idea of docking it
@YummyHappyPills Yet it is illegal to overcharge or undercharge by a large margin according to EU law.
Anyway, it always works out in my favour. Digital games are €60, or they used to be, they seem to be €70 ever since BOTW. Physical games are always less than €60, around €52 for me in most cases.
@YummyHappyPills Really? That's interesting. I just assumed MSRP was a worldwide standard. I know they often do it in Asia. Actually I kind of like your system better.....MFRs dictating pricing makes retail irrelevant which isn't really good.
@Davey1988 Not without buying unofficial accessories. Your call on docking it. MOST people have no problems with docking undocking, there was a subset of deformed docks back at launch that were causing actual screen scratches due to defects. Some (all) of us do have tiny microscratches on the side bezel (the outer lens of the screen OUTSIDE the display area where it's glued to the frame) that are really only visible in bright sunlight or if you hold it up to a light source at the right angle. I've docked mine every single day since March 3 at least once, and other than the bezel-to-dock interactions' tiny micro-scratches on the bezel (outer frame area of the lens). But since you already intend to use a screen protector, no harm in waiting so you can avoid even that. That's not really a defect but an expected wear area where two surfaces abrade in normal use, but if you would rather it be guaranteed pristine, just wait until you have your protector.
@NEStalgia Fe is coming out for Switch so EA would know about a Direct if Fe was featured in it.
@NaviAndMii Yes, The Game Awards has some reveals. The Nintendo side of reveals have been so far out of the ones I've watched:
2013 - Cranky Kong in Tropical Freeze (was called VGA back then)
2014 - First BotW gameplay
2016 - First look at a certain area in BotW (before then most BotW footage was Great Plateau)
Yes, a lot of BotW and I'm sure it'll return yet again this year in the form of DLC Pack 2 but as Switch is in a much better position than Wii U was last year there'll probably be other Nintendo announcements too.
@YummyHappyPills Oh, that's the same here then (MSRP (manufacturer's suggested price) is the same as your RRP.) I think you were thinking I was talking about MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) which is a whole different (and frankly, a very legal gray area that IMO wouldn't hold up in court if challenged.....but high end products like Sennheiser audio equipment enforce their pricing structure on their dealers. NO idea why that has NOT been challenged in court yet.)
It's just no retailer is idiotic enough to charge OVER MSRP (except Gamestop when they force you to buy bundles on Nintendo hardware......)
@Davey1988 No. that was another of the crazy "Nintendo is doomed, Switch is going to fail!" rumors going around. I'm not sure it was ever confirmed it ever happened to any real unit...the youtubers presenting it had some sketchy conditions to their videos indicating they probably had it weighted, say, in a backback, not in the dock. Someone on this forum claimed it happened to them. However, if that happens, (or is even capable of happening) it has only happened to handfuls of launch units, and was obviously a defect in those units (maybe a defective cooling fan/heatspreader attachment or some such issue.) I.E. If these things happen to a Switch it's because it was already broken in the box, and the symptoms hadn't manifested yet. Proper working ones don't have that happen
@Grumblevolcano Ohhh Fe is coming to Switch? That's so cool, I hadn't heard about that. That was actually the only game along with the new NFS game that actually caught my attention during their two hour FIFA/Madden/Battlefield/Battlefront soozestravaganza at E3, but I didn't see Switch on there and wrote it off as well.
