@MegaTen Steam is the best thing that ever happened to PC gaming.. nobody likes DRM, but it is what it is. You can play your games offline, so what is affecting you so much it's not worth purchasing games?
The only issues with DRM that i consider unacceptable are not steam, but certain types of DRM tactics employed by the publishers for specific games.
And who cares steam decided to quit making games... lol, like that's something to hold against them in your decision to use their service.
Again, patches, DLC..nothing to do with steam.. they don't even make games anymore, remember?
Don't know who any of those people are.
I agree with you about the state of gaming, there are a lot of shady practices, things that piss me off and things i won't support with my money.. but these are usually all issues with the publishers like EA. There simply is not a good reason to say there is something wrong with PC gaming as a whole to the point of quitting unless you just don't like the PC platform.
I like Steam. I like the store. I like Big Picture Mode. I like the Steam Link (though it's temperamentalness does drive me crazy). I never bought PC games until Steam came along
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Steam ruined PC gaming as far as I am concerned. Steam is a first and foremost a DRM platform, and I have a very strong distaste for DRM.
But if I buy a game on the 3DS and it exists on Wii U or Switch we don't get the other version for "free". If I want it on those places I have to buy it again. Even on the Switch while possible I do have to go through a process if I want to play games I've purchased on a different system. We also don't expect to get the "remastered" versions of games appear in our libraries for nothing if we owned the originals. On Steam we take all of that for granted.
Frankly, if any of the console digital shops were half as good as Steam you may have had a point. But they aren't. So I don't see how you can be pointing to Steam as the reason why PC gaming is worse than console gaming.
Game Freak is being pressured to get the Pokemon RPG out next year.
The yet unannounced Soul Calibur VI will come to Switch.
Metroid Prime 4 is being (co-?)developed by Bandai Namco.
Square-Enix's The World Ends With You 2 will be a Switch exclusive.
Last, but not least, the Resident Evil 2 remake will be a third-person title.
See ya!
Some of those I've heard before and though they are rumours they're all believable. I hadn't heard the SC VI rumour before or that it's being made but it's a fighting game and they're less taxing than othere genres so it's very possible.
The game I'd want most out of them is Resident Evil 2. Brilliant game back on the N64. Imagine it ala RE4 style. Metroid Prime 4 will be nice but Samus isn't fully Samus for me when in 1st person, she loses a lot. The morph ball bits aren't enough. If it had been 1st person mixed with 3rd person then it would have been much more exciting.
Couldn't care less about Pokemon and don't know really about The World Ends With You. I've heard of it of course. Square Enix though for the large part keep giving us these smaller names. Where's a Final Fantasy, a mainline game? You know Nintendo haven't had one on a home console since the SNES. It's never had a Kingdom Hearts game. Octopath Traveller, Lost Sphear, I Am Setsuna or the like, they're not exactly household names and they're smaller games by comparison.
I can totally see the Game Freak point being true as Pokemon would be an easy way to keep this year's momentum going strong into next year. Game Freak probably want a 2019 release though.
@GrailUK Really big games do help to keep momentum. Like let's imagine that Kirby and Yoshi replaced BotW and Super Mario Odyssey this year (say BotW was kept as a holiday 2016 Wii U exclusive and Super Mario Odyssey's reveal was delayed until E3 2018 for some reason), I really doubt Nintendo would be experiencing the same momentum they are now.
@Grumblevolcano Oh my days imagine! I doubt I would own a Switch if that was the case. Like they say, software drives sales. Now if the reports of them shipping 30 million consoles next year are true, then they certainly have something planned we don't know about!
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Rumour: Reddit Member Spills The Beans On Upcoming Nintendo Switch Titles?
A Switch port of Dragon Ball FighterZ is in the works and will likely come out in Fall/Winter 2018.
Soul Calibur VI is in development for Nintendo Switch (alongside PS4 and PC). Link would return as a guest character on the Switch version.
There has been pressure towards Game Freak to get Pokemon’s 8th Generation out in hopes of a release next year. If you recall Pokemon Stars, that is (or was) real, but all it was was a Sun and Moon port to the Switch, used as an engine test tech demo thing.
Metroid Prime 4 should have something revealed with some in-game footage early next year from what I’ve heard. I’m hearing that Direct in January particularly. Bandai Namco is developing the game for Nintendo. I don’t know which development studio.
There is some kind of new Animal Crossing that they hope to release next year too.
The Switch’s Virtual Console will not be like how it currently is known to be like. There is some kind of a subscription service of sorts in the works.
Mother 3 is real. According to my source, it was completely localized and playable. The sad thing that I’ve heard is that it is being held back for some reason, which all I know has something to do with not knowing which month to release it in.
According to one of my sources, they claim that Square Enix is doing The World Ends With You 2 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
Blizzard is preparing a Hearthstone port for the Switch. I’m not sure when this will be announced due to the phrasing, but I heard about this when I went to Blizzcon.
If the Pokemon game is done 2018, fantastic. But I REALLY hope they're not rushing it.
@GrailUK Well, Capcom has kinda taken note, but I don't get why they didn't take note far before then. They were among those asking more RAM from Nintendo for their games, and yet they're scrambling to catch up? Did they ask that for their upcoming picture viewer? sigh
