Nah, they said pricing would be the same. At most it'll be $29.99 and if they really wanna hit it off, $19.99
I'm expecting $29.99 since it's exactly half what other companies charge, and with the popularity of the system I'm sure they'll let it go to their heads a bit... but I definitely don't see them charging more. Kimishima and corporate Japan sets global pricing.
Even accounting for $250 Switch in Japan translating to $300 Switch in US, that's 20% increase. Well, if the online price in Japan is $20 that means $24 here, which will turn into $24.99
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
So this is cool. Ordered some joy-con from the Nintendo UK Store, got here next day. Comes with a rather hefty booklet covering upcoming games, release schedule, accolades, accessories, how you can use Switch, and all that stuff.
Why do I think that's cool?
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@IceClimbers Off the top of my head, I reckon it'll be $39/€39/£35 a year along with some kind of Virtual Console scheme that allows you 'rent' a game of your choice for a month as well as giving you a membership discount (similar to PS+) on certain games during that particular month.
Just because it is 'cheap' in Japan doesn't mean the conversion rates are going to be 1:1.
A PlayStation Plus membership in Japan, for example, is almost a third (of the amount) cheaper than in Europe, Canada, the US and UK.
From what I've read, I don't think there'll be any choice - it seems like it'll include one NES/SNES title per month (with added online multiplayer) of their choosing, which you'll have to buy at the end of the month if you want to continue playing...
I'd expect it to be like PS+ (etc.) - if the select 'free' title(s) on offer that month don't float your boat, you'll just have to hope that next months offer is more to your tastes...I could be wrong of course - we await confirmation!
Just spent 3 days at C2E2 in Chicago Il (BIG comic convention) and brought my switch with me. First time taking it away from the house.
Friday and Sunday did not get any time in since I was busy going broke and seeing panels, although I got a few minutes of Samurai Showdown in friday.
Saturday I got much time in (the joys of waiting 2.5 hours for Stan Lee Q & A) and I was very happy with it.
We played much Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo in the morning. Screen was great, everything real responsive. Demo was really fun and I know there have been complaints on it but to me it was as good as a full game.
I had a Sheika carrying case and a Hori stand. The kickstand on the Switch did not work well at all. Not sure if it was because it was on carpeting, or the fact it was on the floor and we were looking down on it but it did not work. Hori kickstand worked like a charm though. Definite the best 12 bucks I spent.
The only other nitpick was the constant Joy-Con reconfiguration. Everytime I put the joycons back on the Switch and took them off I would need to go into the settings to set it to individual sideways controllers. Maybe it was just the situation, reattaching the joycons and shifting place in line a few times, that was the cause. Once configured they worked perfectly.
Later in the day my wife and I found a quiet corner and played some Snipperclips. Again worked out really well with the Hori stand. Even talked to another con goer about how nice the Switch was. Not problems and no controller problems since we did not move as we were playing.
Can not say how long total playtime was for the day. Maybe around 3 hours total with the Switch on sleep mode all day when not playing. Not even close to running out of battery power.
All in all a very positive experience. And I have no doubt I will be taking it to more conventions (and to Disney later this year) in the future.
And a an OT aside. One C2E2 panel I want to was a Nintendo Fan Panel hosted by youtubers Rogersbase, Ike "Ricky" Isewede, Phil "EE" Visu, EtikaWNetowrk, Shofu, and Cobanermani456. Not all of them cause some got sick but I do not know one from another so I put them all.
With the exception of them having Mario Kart Deluxe already and letting people play Battle Mode, they were very meh.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Sounds great but I seriously doubt it will ever come to Switch. They're saying it will be released on the Eshop but I find it hard to believe Nintendo would approve of this. Why buy VC games when you can just stream them from a PC emulator to Switch.

Yeah, I'm sceptical of this mostly for that reason. It's definitely a thing that could work given it's effectively copying the main selling point of the NVidia Shield. Streaming games from your PC to the Switch over your LAN is definitely something that can be done easily. There are a lot of other devices on the market that do just that one way or another. I just don't see what Nintendo would gain from steering you away from the eShop.....
