Right. The 2nd dock is huge. And I think it's safe to say most of us are interested in a 2nd dock, if not the $90 price point. A 2nd Switch really isn't that much more than buying a spare dock set and 2nd set of Joycon. Only an extra $130 and you're getting an entirely separate Switch unit to use, and a $15 grip (for what it's worth).

I love portable mode too, but the ability to seamlessly dock to any TV or HDMI monitor on demand is too good to pass up. Maybe you wanna play it in room A on the TV, then move to the porch in handheld mode, then play it in room B on the TV, then play in the living room in tabletop mode... the options are endless. Be a shame to have a console capable of all that and never take advantage

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

My 2 cents on the Mario Kart argument. I was originally not going to get it but then I thought about it some more and said why not. I can sell my old copy for still some pretty good value and I already get 20% off the new game. So to upgrade I'll be out of pocket maybe 30$ and have something else to play on my switch......at home....in the car....at my moms house...waiting for the kids to get out of school. When you think about it, it's a much more valuable copy and yes battle mode makes a big difference especially for a family of 5. I can see nearly everyone that has the game on the Wii U upgrading at some point.

Well, as someone who is buying MK8 Deluxe after owning the original, I can say it's really just a combination of everything you guys are stating:

-Battle Mode, especially online. I can see myself pouring dozens of hours into this. It's kind of scary the potential actually
-Portability
-2-item holding (honestly gonna change how you play the game a bit)
-3-tier boost. Seems silly to more casual players, but again, this is something that is going to slightly change the way you play. And honestly, in MK8, I would often find myself power sliding well through corners and wishing there was a little extra boost I could get for maximizing the slide. This is going to be pretty cool.
-The Boo item. I missed it A LOT in the original. It's gonna be awesome having that back. The feather will be fun in Battle Mode, I'm sure, but Boo will be great to have back in the lineup.
-And maybe the biggest thing of all: Just having the ability to play one of Nintendo's best games in the last decade on their newest system! That can't be underestimated. Just because of the pick-up-and-play nature of the game, the unlimited replayability - just to get this on the newest piece of hardware is MY biggest buying incentive. I would never do it for mostly one-off games like even a Zelda, but because MK is one of those games you can just keep coming back to, I want it on the latest stuff.

Another thing i was thinking is that, differently from Wii U finally, we are getting online titles in first months with MK8D, ARMS and Spla2n. This can really be another fantastic way to sell the system. I was so sad when i was not so much able to enjoy Splatoon and Mario Maker more. Now with the Switch we are going to enjoy this games for the entire Switch lifespan. That sounds awesome to me

Enjoy it free while it lasts lol

Yea, enjoy it before they start charging 3 bucks a month! You may have to put your mortgage up as collateral with a price like that.

BigBadJohn

@rallydefault 3 bucks a month? Thats the equivalent of a coffee at Starbucks! How am I ever going to afford that?

Saw you guys discussing it earlier in the thread - yes, owning two Switchs is DEFINITELY worth it. My wife and I each have one. The Switch in my opinion is very personal honestly, almost like a dedicated handheld device at times, so it really just feels like we got new huge "Gameboys on steroids" that can let us play Splatoon 2 together.

I think double dipping for MK8D depends a lot on the owner, for example, on the Wii U the online will soon start dying with everyone moving to Switch... but it will be free. We still don't know how much online will be. It would be great if it is 3 bucks, but you never know with NoA and NoE.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I'll pay whatever the price is, as long as it doesn't cost more than it does on the PS4, which it won't.

FGPackers

@Luna_110 they said the price already and it should be around 22 american dollars if i remember right. And it is really good in this case. Since i already pre-ordered Splatoon 2 and that surely it will be one of the most played for me it's a no-brainer. And yeah, i played MK8 a lot on Wii U. Can't wait for battle mode online with voice chat!

Once voice chat is live I'll have to come up with some creative excuses as to why I'm so bad at online games. In fairness I do have a puppy King Charles spaniel who keeps jumping on me whenever I play GDM which is why I can't get a rating above "C".

I should point out that we don't know the price of the online service in Europe and NA yet. We know the price for Japan, and what that converts to. NoA could very well decide to charge $60 a year to not appear to be inferior to XBL/PSN and give the "we do business in different regions differently" excuse they gave for the standard New 3DS.

Peek-a-boo

@IceClimbers Off the top of my head, I reckon it'll be $39/€39/£35 a year along with some kind of Virtual Console scheme that allows you 'rent' a game of your choice for a month as well as giving you a membership discount (similar to PS+) on certain games during that particular month.

Just because it is 'cheap' in Japan doesn't mean the conversion rates are going to be 1:1.

A PlayStation Plus membership in Japan, for example, is almost a third (of the amount) cheaper than in Europe, Canada, the US and UK.

TuVictus

Yeah. I mean wasn't the switch converted to be $250 in Japanese currency? I'll predict the service will be no less than $45 over here. Not too bad, but it's still really annoying that we gotta pay. They better hope their service is noticeably better than their prior, more free, service.

TuVictus

Spoony_Tech

If they're going to charge anything above 30$ then they better offer what the other big 2 do like free games and such.
