@FawfulsFury I enjoyed reading through your list, thanks. It's inspired me to make sure I get round to finishing Undertale sooner rather than later - I've never got very far into it, but I'd like to, so that I can move onto Deltarune as much as anything else. But I am wondering, did you mean Luigi's Mansion 2, or 3?

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

@BASEDSAKRI Not sure I've ever seen Chocobo GP feature on a list like these. I always liked the look of it because it looked so similar to Mario Kart 8, but have never fot round to picking it up (put off by the bad PR around the lack of base content).

@gcunit I grew up w the ps1 game and its still my fav for the system. its sad that the micro transactions seem to have killed the series forever but it never bothered me (ended up w all chacters w out spending a dime). my biggest beef is how annoying the intro song is that cant be changed. yet theres a cool feature where u can set the tracks u race to play songs that r randomly shuffled, something mk should do.

It's tough to choose, and my list is always changing. Basing my choices on what games were the most fun, surprising, engaging, and/or thought provoking. And thinking through this, wow, what a great system the Switch has been

1. TOTK - in my opinion, the game improved on BOTW in every way. While it did not have the same wow-factor, I had so much fun with this game, and I didn't stop playing until I hit on the 100% shrines & Depths.
2. Outer Wilds - I had my eye on this game for years, and finally bought it during the Christmas sale. All I can say is WOW. I love this game so much and still have more to do (in the DLC). This game is an absolute gift, and one of the most thoughtful and atmospheric games that I have played. The exploration and music is incredible, with a story that slowly presents itself in a beautiful way.
3. Celeste - What a story, I am still thinking about this game so many years after finishing it. Beautiful, challenging, and a fantastic story.
4. Vampire Survivor - just a fantastically fun game, with incredible post-launch support
5. BOTW - what's left to be said - just an amazing game
6. Hades - Story, Gameplay, fun-factor...10/10
7. Metroid Prime Remastered - THIS is how you remaster a game, flawless
8. NieR: Automata - much like Outer Wilds, this game absolutely nails the story, the atmosphere, the music, the gameplay...what a fantastic game.
9. Metroid Dread - I had wanted a new, 2D Metroid for years, and Dread absolutely delivers. One of the few games that I hit 100% on my first playthrough. If my backlog wasn't so big, I'd have replayed it...maybe one day.
10. Broforce - this game is wonderfully dumb, and my favorite 4 player game (in the same room) on the system. Adding to the list for the absurd fun I've had with my group of friends.

I'm surprised that there's no Mario games on the list for me, Wonder, Mario Maker and Odyssey are all deserving. Still pretty early in Persona 5 - I could see this game moving into my top 10.

Figured I should update my list, since it has changed substantially. I'm also limiting it to games I would consider Switch games. So, no Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze this time. That's a Wii U game. However I am including Mario 3d world and Bowser's Fury, because the 3d world portion had extensive improvements made from the original, and Bowser's Fury is new content. Alright here we go.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
No surprises here. It was everything I loved from Breath of the Wild taken to 11. The ability to play the game in the way I wanted, no matter how stupid that way was, was just delightful. The way the game just lets you build a death robot to kill all your enemies for you, or allows you to break every puzzle, or lets you make completely non-sensical and ridiculous weapons is just wonderful. I can understand why some don’t like it, but as someone who loves this kind of thing (Hitman is another one of my favorite series, and is pretty similar to this when you think about it) this was a treat.
2. Super Mario 3D World+Bowser’s Fury
This one jumped up my list quite a bit since last time. I don’t know what I was on to put it so low. It’s a port of a fantastic game that fixes so many issues with the original version, and another fantastic game on top of that. Absurd value and super fun time.
3. Super Mario Odyssey
I like 3D Mario in case that wasn’t already obvious. I haven’t replayed it since that first playthrough, but that first time was so magical I can’t rate it lower. Best controls in a Mario game, most content in a Mario game, least down time in a Mario game (other than Bowser’s Fury), just incredible. Unfortunately it is not two games in one, which is sort of unfair but I don’t really care.
4. Outer Wilds
Kind of a cheat pick since I didn’t play it on Switch but I don’t care. I will now not say anything else about this game for reasons of spoilers except saying everyone should play it. A sensational story that could only be told in the medium of video games.
5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
I will probably never play this game again because Tears of the Kingdom exists, but I’m still glad this one exists. I’m not going to let its sequel being a vast improvement in my opinion damper my opinion of this one.
6. Metroid Dread
Yeah, this list is very Nintendo heavy list. This game is so good it made me go play through all the older Metroids. By the way, AM2R is delightful if anyone hasn’t played it. But Dread is just so freaking good. Never has movement in a game just clicked with me so perfectly. Also nails boss design that is difficult without being unfair, which is somewhat rare to see done well. Also, Samus is awesome.
7. Monster Hunter Rise
Sure do be Monster Hunter.
8. Splatoon 3
Sure do be Splatoon.
9. Balatro
I sure do love gambling. And card games are fun too I guess.
10. Tetris 99/Tetris Effect Connected
I’m kind of a Tetris addict and I can’t really pick between these two. Effect is definitely a “better” game, but also I have like 80 hours in 99. So it’s a big tie hooray.

Honorable mentions
TTYD, Smash Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Shadow Generations.
