Topic: Thoughts on if Yokai Watch 4 will ever get localized.

Yokai Watch isn’t even a “Pokemon killer”. It’s nothing like pokemon, and the mindset that it is is what killed the series in the west.

I think we will get it some day if the demand is high.

I think there's a better chance of it getting localized by another company, since Ni No Kuni II got rated for switch, and Bandai seems to be bringing it over in Level 5's stead.

@Adhik762 There's no "Asian English speaking" version of the games. The only English speaking ones are the Uk localization and the American Localization of the games..

@Adhik762 Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon did the same things, and they're still popular. "Cultural censorship" isn't the reason the series died.

@Adhik762 It didn't. It died due to marketing, as well as being compared to pokemon. The anime was put on Disney's sister channel, killing it. The third game had a limited release, with almost no actual advertisement. It was mishandled in the west, and sold as a "pokemon killer", rather than anything else. You're probably the only person here who's obsessed with Level 5 being "evil" due to "cultural censorship".

You'd be surprised how many games get censored when they come to the west due to localization. Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Xenoblade X, and so many other games got legit censored, and yet still go on strong. Your argument is effectively just delusional at this point.

@Snaplocket Yep, they censored some Job outfits in Bravely Default and Second, as well as aged up the characters.

Fire emblem I believe got rid of the petting minigame.

@Adhik762 Ah yes, I'm a Nintendo Fanboy, despite the fact that I criticize the company more than I praise them, and besides the fact that Level 5 isn't even a Nintendo owned company either. We aren't talking about the anime either, or the manga. We're talking about the games, as that's what matters to most people. It's like bringing up the Pokemon anime in a discussion about why Pokemon games are becoming less and less fun.

@Adhik762 Hasbro didn't market the games in the west, or the anime in the west. They were just toy manufacturers..

And the toys that they made were subpar compared to the Japanese toys, as they didn't believe in the IP, and the toys they did make weren't selling as well as big blockbusters that they normally sell, causing them to just abandon it.

VoidofLight

@Adhik762 They didn't do any of the marketing for the anime or games. Disney did the anime marketing, and the games were marketed horribly by Nintendo themselves. The only thing Hasbro marketed was the toys themselves.

VoidofLight

@Adhik762 No. Did you literally not read what I said? The anime itself failed because of Disney not marketing it properly, and placing it on a sister network that most people don't get. The toys failed because of Hasbro making inferior products, and barely marketing those. The games did relatively well, but there was an oversaturation of them, and Nintendo failed with bad marketing. You seem to not read or consider other's points.

@VoidofLight It sucked on Disney to, they had to get rid of so much content bc it was not kid friendly, The show would even make fun of fan letter's, plus the show got bashed bc they had a pretty big porn reference, so that did not help the show at all.

@Snatcher I get the feeling that the show really would've done better on any other network than Disney. It was just.. really odd that they even put it on the Disney Channel to begin with, when there were many other options.

@VoidofLight Ya bc that show was not Disney material.

Not sure if this has been brought up but I want to clarify a couple things, Level-5 Abby didn't shut down, if you had actually paid attention to the news, you'd know it was shuttered into a skeleton crew but it still exists and there's no actual evidence of a shutdown, to the contrary, linked below is evidence that it still exists. A lack of news is not indicative of an actual shutdown and the media reporting on this really ought to be ashamed of themselves for spreading this misinformation.

Also according to this post from Sega America localizer Scott Strichart, who claims to have also worked with Level-5 Abby, Level-5 Abby did not actually contribute a whole lot to the localization process so it doesn't even matter to begin with: https://twitter.com/triggerredd/status/1315665639806136327

It's important to keep in mind that Nintendo published Yo-Kai Watch games outside of Japan, not Level-5 Abby.
