@Adhik762 you keep saying this but it isn't going to change anything. You aren't showing evidence that THAT is the reason. You just keep repeating the same "If they kept it faithful" and "It's faithful in Asian Markets". So is Pokemon? The anime is highly Americanized as well as the games. Brock's "Donuts"? Misty's "Swimsuit"? The pointing fingers instead of guns? The fact that they tried to Americanize Kanto?? But Pokemon is doing just fine. The localization has nothing to do with the failure. Accept it.

@Adhik762
Well, there is nothing we can do with Yokai Watch franchise.
It ended on Yokai Watch 4 without English version.
We have no choice but accepting this truth.

@NikHogan I guess Yugioh failed for the same reason yokai and pokemon fa- oh wait..

@VoidofLight EXACTLY lmao. BTW do you have discord? (Sorry if that sounds weird you're just great to chat with lol)

@Snaplocket Yu-Gi-Oh! had some good marketing, and the game's pretty fun if you can manage to actually get into it. Not to mention the manga itself is pretty good, with the anime being great as long as you watch the subbed versions (due to the censorship, which still doesn't bug me all that much personally).

@Adhik762 Need to rant. Honestly, you're delusional. Maybe I'm harsh but that's how I feel. I mean, you ignored all my comment and basically answer "I say that is censorship and that they went bankrupt because of it so that's what it is". Not even trying to answer all the points I made.

1. Censorship is not localization. I'm tired of that stupid argument of any change made to the original japanese game that is not a literal translation being "CeNsHorShiP". There are times when you can point out cases that could be considered "censorship", true. But that's not always the case. Not every change made are on the same level of 4kids and we should stop treat it like that is the case. I looked at those changes for Yokai Watch and those seem quite standard. At the very least I didn't find any of them being 4kids One Piece level bad.

2. Also, I have to set the record straight. Having a localization that heavily changes japanese culture in games is not directly related to selling less copies. There are plenty of products that had that type of localization that did just fine. Like with early Pokemon for example (specially with the anime). You can hate that "censorship" all you want but it doesn't change that.

3. Also, did you know a lot of the big Level 5 games (probably the ones you accuse of "censorship") were actually not localized by that branch? A lot of them were localized by other companies. Like with Yokai Watch, for example, that was published and localized by Nintendo. Does this mean Nintendo is doomed yet again?

@Snaplocket I read up to chapter 7 of the original Manga, and I vastly prefer it as well. I need to get the rest eventually, but I really enjoy how dark it is compared to the anime.

@Snaplocket i need to read the manga, I hear great things about it. The anime can be a slog to get through, mostly because I find the Komasan segments super boring. The Shadowside anime was super cool, though.

The Yokai Watch Manga seems familiar to me. I read up to the first volume I believe, but I didn't get the rest of it.

I think Snap was talking about the Yugioh manga though, since the topic kind of shifted, but we can probably get back to yokai watch. @NikHogan

I want to ask.
With current condition where Yokai Watch franchise is discontinued, how will you keep support Yokai Watch ?
Have you at least still willing to consider Yokai Watch games despite they are Japanese version only ?
Blaming something will not changing the fact.

@Adhik762 Shadowside didn't air in America because the original Anime failed due to poor marketing and airing on a sister channel that not many cable packages get. It's like saying "Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's failed because they changed everything!", when the series failed due to how long it was taking to dub the episodes, and the constant re-runs.

@Adhik762 If I remember correctly, 4 did very poorly in Japan. I guess that's a "censorship" issue.

I'm done.

@Adhik762
Yes, i heard that.
But my question is will you keep supporting Yokai Watch franchises without localization ?
And what contribution have you made for Yokai Watch franchise (buy the game / buy the merchandises / watch the anime) ?

@Adhik762 You keep talking about the why but not the how, people aren't going to take your view seriously unless you can explain it. Please just give a direct answer to HOW it failed to catch on in the West due to "censorship", what was actually done to make to make Western players not like it?

Anyways, to get off of this stupid argument, any ideas for localized names of the protagonists in YW4?

Grillin' and Chillin'.

intergalacticNikolai

@Anti-Matter EXACTLY! I am still supporting it by buying the Japanese releases. I got YW4, and am looking to buy the remaster of 1, and Yo-kai Watch Jam.

@NikHogan
I think it will still Nate for the boy character.
On anime Yokai Watch Shadowside, he was a grown up young man and has been married, have a son named Keisuke.
But.... To be honest, Yokai Watch Shadowside / 4 was dissapointed me for being too scary.
My brain is naturally really hate horror things, must be in very very tame and cartoon with previous Yokai Watch level i can get along with something supernatural. If get too scary like Yokai Watch Shadowside, i don't hesitate to hate it.

@Anti-Matter I'm surprised, I LOVED Shadowside! Regardless, here are my ideas for localized names:
Keita Amano: Nate Adams (Already canon)
Fumi Kodama: Katie Forrester (Already canon)
Natsume Amano: Natalie Adams?
Touma Tsukinami: Thomas Townshend?
Akinori Arihoshi: Jacob Abraham? (I think Jacob really fits him idk)
Shin Shimomachi: David Smith?
IDK that's my ideas
