Topic: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I've never played any mainline Zelda game as "Link", so it'll definitely be a weird thing for me.

@Octane Yeah I know, but the Wii U is supposed to scale it up to 1080p. Plus, the N64 games arguably had a worse resolution. ^^

@Octane It only came out a little over 5 years ago. I say you either like the visuals or you don't at this point.

More perfect scores. Ive never seen a game do this well...and its a launch title

@Nicolai It was still for a standard definition only console though. The gap between standard definition and HD is massive.

@Grumblevolcano I understand that; I was more referring to @Octane's comment that the visuals looked good then and don't now "by today's standards," even though it wasn't released that long ago.

To put it into perspective, the 3DS was already out when Skyward Sword was released. We're essentially still in the same handheld cycle.

@Tsurii I can always set the language to German and cringe at the VA. Still reminds me of all the terribly dubbed shows in Germany..

The rest sounds great though, well, except for the frame rate issues. I hope they're not too bad.

@Tsurii Thank you kindly for your detailed analysis! The Wii U version seems about what you expect from open world games on consoles, with pop in and frame dips.

You could like those visuals being rendered at 1080p instead.

I have the opposite problem! Just checked my amazon, and one of the switch consoles I ordered says "preparing for dispatch" as we speak, and will actually arrive tomorrow!! (got so excited there for a moment, and then I realized, "hey wait a minute, would probably help if they dispatched the actual game to play on it!") Turns out the WiiU version of BoTW is being dispatched though, just the Switch version hasn't yet! (I'm probably going to be up all night hitting that refresh button! -I just know it!!) I know this is depraved and I should just go to bed and wait til morning, but I'm not gonna lie, I can't help it! -It's kind of a mixed felling of frustration and excitement all at the same time! (...Bet I'm not the only one feeling this right now though!)

Anyone else on an Amazon refresh button rampage?

I've been studying making games etc. It really has taken away from the enjoyment of many games in recent years, since you have to constantly focus on the smallest details to learn and improve.
I'm not gonna do that with Breath of the Wild!! I just want to loose myself in the game's world and live inside this "Hyrule Fantasy" even if only for a moment...

I wonder whats the over under on how many spoilers IGN will intentionally post on their front page to try to garner hits.

They're already up to 3 today. They finally started putting 'spoiler' literally right in front of the title with the boss' name.

Why they can't leave out specifics in titles on the main page is beyond me.

I can't believe it! My Wii U is really downloading the game! Finally, after 4 years of waiting.
Can't wait to actually play it at noon!

The Wii U eshop has given us an idea of when the DLC will come out. Pack 1 is planned for August and Pack 2 is planned for December.

Also the Wii U eshop has BotW music unlike the Switch eshop which has silence.

So I've got my Switch but no Zelda game to play yet...I'm so tempted to just buy it off the eshop.

Heck ya! I just beat Tri Force Heroes! Which means I completed my goal of beating all Zelda games in order of release before Breath of the Wild! And with 3 hours to spare, heh heh ^.^
