@arronishere: See, this whole thought process seems simple minded. Games are an excellent media to tell a good story. I understand there is a big divide between gamers (usually consisting of modern gamers and ones that had their beginnings in the 80's and 90's), but without a good story you just get boring mechanics. While game mechanics can be fun, games that focus only on the mechanics tend to be time waster games more than anything. Atmosphere and world building are important to drawing the player into the world around them, and story is what gives you a purpose to continue playing and exploring.
We have books that focus on their mechanics rather than story. We call those English textbooks.
I disagree. Videogames in a way are a narrative medium, but I don't think telling a story should be their main focus. The simple fact videogames are interactive doesn't make them ideal for storytelling, since the narrative structure needs to be limited by the game's rules. For example, while in a game characters have health bars, in a movie a character may die because of a single bullet.
Also, think of NPC's in Zelda games. How believable are they when all they do is playing a small part in the Hero's quest?
Don't get me wrong, Zelda is my favourite videogame series and I'm all for games with good narration. For example, I found SMT IV extremely good both gameplay- and story-wise. It adopted a very corageous, perhaps brutal at times, way of telling the story, and I utterly loved that aspect of the game, but unfortunately I can recall just a few games that don't have somehow forced stories.
Tl;dr: my point is just I don't think videogames are the best medium if you're looking for a complex and fleshed out stories (even though there are games that excel at it) because gameplay and story tend to limit each other.
In the end that's no big deal since I play videogames for fun
Guys, question marks don't always mean a question is actually being asked. Those article titles were for effect, on of those effects being mocking P. Kollar for having bad taste.
Anyway, now I'd like to ask a question: is there any game with a better opening than Majora's Mask?
I love that opening, it's such a concise hook (meeting Skull Kid and rewinding) and perfect introduction to the game (familiarizing yourself with Clocktown.) Personally, I don't know of any better beginning, be it The Last of Us, Metroid Prime, or Skyrim.
Are you literally asking a literal question? Literally?
Do you mean the opening for MM is good, or do you mean it's bad?

I'm saying it's good and asking if anyone thinks another game has a better opening, he's making an unfunny joke that doesn't make any sense.
That is weird. Did they ever explain what happened to Navi?
Nope, they didn't even bother to explain/fix it in 3DS version.
Personally I imagine they decided to show her being brutally killed to make all the people who got annoyed with her in the previous game happy only for it to be cut for rating and there was no time to work something else in.

Poor Navi. I actually kind of liked Navi and didn't really find her that bad. Although I am a bit more patient than normal people, so that may be why.
Who knows, maybe they'll explain what happened to her in a future game. A LoZ spin-off dedicated to Navi; just imagine the reactions the fans would have.
In anycase MM opening is very flawed, the kickstart is Navi goes missing but then is never seen again or even explained. You may aswell start the next Zelda game by being told to rescue Zelda only to complete it without rescuing Zelda.
But, but who cares? Navi was only in the text intro to the game; just a plot device to kick the story off. Furthermore, at the end of the game Link finds an invaluable friend, so it has narrative cohesion.
This better be the 1st game shown in the inevitable early 2016 Direct. Still stunned Nintendo didn't push out a trailer for this game at their disastrous E3.

Hope not. I want Zelda to close out the show.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

??? What do you mean?
Nintendo has a bad habit of ending Directs and e3 presentations on a whimper rather than with a bang. I'd rather they change that by ending with Zelda rather than starting with it.

That's quite a way off. I thought they said, when hearing how annoyed people were at not seeing it at E3, they'd give us more "soon". Soon strikes me as in 2015?

I highly doubt any new Zelda info will show this year.

If Zelda is going to be early 2016 then I expect to see something this year. If it is late 2016 I expect we won't see something this year. If it was delayed to launch on the NX, we probably won't see anything until E3. Hoping for the 1st one, expecting the 2nd, fearing the 3rd lol.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I will get even more bitter if they make us wait until E3 2016 for Zelda info. That's utterly pathetic.
The thing about pushing it back at holiday 2016 is what are they gonna do to keep people playing the Wii U in the space between? There's nothing else expected really. Ok so the hardcore fans don't care and will dig out their Wii U for the sake of Zelda at any time. But there are a lot of casuals who just go with the current trends.

Nintendo has been announcing games a lot closer to release recently, and their E3 presentation focused on Holiday 2015 a lot. Just because there isn't anything currently announced, doesn't mean there won't be something to play during that time.

Everything falls on Nintendo's early 2016 Direct. That will indicate to me everything. If they insist on showing more 3DS games than Wii U games... Wii U is dying. If they show a balance... Good. If they show more Wii U than 3DS... Good. If they show Zelda... Very good.
