Oh yeah, OoT had a bit of freedom after the child segment.
You could do all the important sidequests before even entering the forest temple... The fire and water temple could be done in any order, and the sprit and shadow temple too.
As a kid I always did the spirit temple before the shadow temple, so it was a bit suprising when I found out it was "supposed" to be the last one.
Nowadays I always go get the biggoron sword and the tunics before the forest temple. Having the bolero of fire and serenade of water ready early is also nice.
If you're still playing BotW on Wii U, you need lots of space. The DLC Pack 1 file sizes are confirmed!:
Switch - 456MB
Wii U - 3.7GB
Yeah, nope. Not getting an HDD for the Zelda expansion. Why is the file so much bigger on Wii U? It's just a hard mode and a few costumes. The file size is just as big as Splatoon and Captain Toad combined! I don't even want to think about the file size of the second expansion pack.
For anyone still interested in the timeline placement shenanigans (@Nicolai@G0dlike@Tsurii@Meowpheel ) , I think it's all but certain that this game takes place in a "Convergent" Timeline in which all 3 timelines have merged. BotW definitely takes place in either the Child timeline or a convergent timeline, and the references to Ruto as a sage in the Zora plaque in BotW hint at the game referring to the adult timeline. I think a director let out a hint last month as well saying something like "it'd be really cool if this game merged all 3 timelines since it's so far into the future". There's definitely more evidence from the Child Timeline than the other two (Midna's gear in the upcoming DLC even refers to the Hero of Twilight) but the references to the other two timelines as well seems to make this game take place in a Convergent timeline.
@Haru17 While I agree that the timeline in Zelda is certainly stretching at times, it definitely exists. Ocarina, Majora, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess all neatly fall into the timeline. There's lots of inconsistencies for sure, but overall there is a definite existence of it. Considering the directors have mentioned the timeline repeatedly and told people BotW's timeline placement could be deduced (instead of just saying, "it doesnt matter"), I think it is still important to consider.
@Meowpheel That's an interesting train of thought. But Mido isn't confirmed to be the predecessor to Fado, the Wind Sage from Wind Waker, so I think it might be a bit of a stretch IMHO. But you might be right.
When I 1st played the game, my initial thought was that they were going to merge the timelines and that this would almost be the end game of Demise's curse and we would finally see Ganon defeated not just sealed away..... @shadow-wolf
At the same time, I appreciate that there isn't something from the game I really want to experience that isn't only obtainable after the beyond-tedious task of getting every last Korok Seed.
There is a flaw in your game design if you make a game so large that you decide it isn't all worth playing.
Anyway, does anyone think the last DLC will allow play as the champions? And then play them outside of their divine beasts and free roaming in the open world? That's the last thing that could redeem this game in my eyes. After all, open world DLC is often better than the main game by virtue of being focused and unique.
Anyway I thought that was more of a "we don't expect every player do the all the things" instead of a "we don't think it's worth to do all the things".
@Haru17 It's possible, I think the memories you find in the main game are going to be key to the story DLC. Maybe expand them into playable segments, ODST style.
Have we talked about the new costumes and how we think they'll be distributed? Sorry if we have and I missed it.
Just thought about it now and whether they'll be random chest drops, akin to the Switch T-shirt or if Nintendo will put the effort in and offer mini quests or shrine like puzzles! New shrines would be an amazing way to distribute them, but I'm sure they would have spoke about that....
Don't get me wrong, I adore the game, but I almost don't bother with the chests anymore, cos it's so rare that you open one and get something that feels worth the special wrapping. Scattering unique items in a sea of boring chests would be a bit annoying.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Ah, thanks! That's what I presumed. I know the Champions Ballad is the real meat of the DLC but it does feel like a real missed opportunity to not flesh out the game world with another 12 shrines! I can't be the only person who wants 2 complete rows of hearts and max stamina! @Grumblevolcano
Right!!!!
3x Phantom Armour,
3x Tingle Armour,
Midna Helm,
Majoras Mask,
Korok Mask,
Travel medallion!
That's 10 pieces of gear that could fill 10 of the 12 shrines!
Fill the other 2 with random drops, diamonds or great ancient cores.... @Haru17
@DarthNocturnal I don't think you can infer that the DLCs were taken out of the base game by the new gear having the same effects as old gear. Breath 1.0 already had a bunch of redundant gear with guardian res up and so on. They just ran out of ideas and are unwilling to add new elements to the game.
