The Phantom Armor is definitely the best looking of the bunch.

I really wish they all had some more useful effects though.. only the Korok mask sounds useful thus far.

@DarthNocturnal They sorta did that with the random swords stuck in rocks in the game. In the beginning I would see one in the distance and thinking it was a cool weapon I'd climb or glide over....rusty sword or travelers sword. Would throw them off a cliff in annoyance.

The majoras mask... erm, mask sounds useful too.

I'm constantly switching monster masks, specially at night with those annoying stals that come out of nowhere.

The mask lets the player explore without having to worry about most small monsters.

@Haru17 Ya, apart from the Korok Mask, none of these have any special effects that are different from the costumes already in the game.

So are these going to be dropped in chests like in the first DLC update, or is there a certain way that these will be obtained in the game? I don't think it's too much to ask for some sort of side quest considering the cost of the season pass.

Grumblevolcano

@nf_2 Don't forget that the season pass is Day 1 content (3 items) + DLC 1 + DLC 2, DLC 2 is probably going to be very big and hence covers the vast majority of the season pass price.

@nf_2 I hope there are side quests to get them, but for some reason doubt it.

@Grumblevolcano Sure, but so far we're paying for a few items, armor sets/masks that are essentially some new skins, and a new dungeon. Hard mode, while awesome, should have been present at launch since it's been standard in most games of this type for decades now. Again, I don't asking for these armor sets to be a little more involved than simply having some chests spawn somewhere in the field is too much to ask given the price of admission.

They should have tossed in the Amiibo stuff into the DLC as well.

God the item effects are dull.

I know right? They were just explaining how Phantoms don't take damage from the front, and I was thinking "cool, a suit of armor that blocks anything from the front, with or without a shield!" All that preamble with the defining traits of a Phantom, and then it merely does the same thing as the Barbarian outfit. Just raises attack power.

@Meowpheel Did they detail Majora's Mask somewhere?

Honestly, re-exploring the entire world sounds like a pain. I'll probably end up just looking up the location of the masks.

Also this is still a Zelda game where that first shot of Link diving into the ocean in his space undies never takes place, because you can move just as easily in full metal armor, and get stabbed just as easily in rags with higher stats than brand new soldier / Phantom plate mail. So enjoy the world-breaking non physicality of that.

So I finally beat all 40 Talus' and Hinoxes and got the lame medals. The only thing I have left to do in this game is the infuriating horse mini games. There has never been a Zelda game this against you actually completing it. There's no way to tell which of the Hinoxes you have killed when Kilton says you're at 39/40 or anything. Pull up a map and get to fast travelin', Linky, we didn't bother to develop a fortune teller this time.

And then the Korok seed reward is as if the developers are telling you "Oh, you did all of it? Why would you do all that, it wasn't worth it. You shouldn't expect the content in a Zelda game is worthwhile. Here, watch some more reused content over again."

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Haru17

@Tsurii I don't know.

I wasn't a few days ago, then I got the Majora's Mask amiibo in the mail.

Grumblevolcano

@Haru17 The Korok seed reward seems more like trolling achievement/trophy hunters. You know that if BotW was a XB1/PS4 game you know there'd be a few achievements/trophies for collecting all 900 seeds (say 1 for collecting all 900 seeds, 1 for 100% completion on normal mode, 1 for 100% completion on master mode, etc.)

Grumblevolcano

Haru17

@Grumblevolcano I don't care at all about trophies. But, if something is in game in a Zelda game, there should be a purpose to it. Even if it's just a larger wallet or unlockable armor skin (which would have been easy in Breath of the Wild with all the slightly different tunics they're throwing at us in DLC and amiibo).

erv

I explored the game with wolf link a couple of times and it was fun... let's see if the midna mask is going to add more to the partnership. They seem to hint at something at least.

Grumblevolcano

@Haru17 Well the purpose of so many Korok seeds is that it's unlikely for a player to not find enough to expand their inventory a decent amount. There just isn't a point in finding them all.

Grumblevolcano

Haru17

@erv If they do that I will start shouting. Also, any sort of interaction there would be really weird because it requires the player to own the game, the season pass, and the amiibo that was originally bundled with and can still only be leveled up in a Wii U port of a Gamecube game.
