I actually do kinda miss the time when I didn't know what was in store beyond the Plateau.
Yes indeed! I think I would have been happy with my experience just playing the plateau. When Reggie used to talk pre-release about the size of BotW, I didn't really buy into it. But it turns out he wasn't having me on. Spirit of adventure, indeedy.

@GoronBrudda I think it's random, but I've always received a horn. What I don't get is guts from the red mane. And if you're upgrading the barbarian armor you're going to need a lot of guts. And you know what that means? Silver manes! Oh the JOY!
I seem to get 2 horns and 1 guts from a silver mane (along with the most powerful sword, bow, and shield in the game AFAIK.)
The trouble is: If I go hunting endless silver lynels, my barbarian armor isn't worth much defense yet, so I kind of have to use my fully 4 star ancient armor. And it still wears down most of my weapons. So after I do this a dozen+ times, I can finally get my barbarian armor strong enough to hunt lynels faster. And then I won't need to hunt lynels anymore
@DarthNocturnal I think the Dark Link set attracts enemies during the day, has a stealth affect that only affects certain enemies at night, and the speed boost you mentioned.

I've heard that BotW has recently been updated to include a load of different language packs - does anybody know how that works exactly? ...I'd be interested in changing the audio to Japanese, but keeping the text/subtitles/menu's in English - is that now possible?? Yep, definitely countless hours of fun left to be had, even though I've completed all the shrines and collected the majority of other things. (I find Lynels kind of annoying and tedious though, but practice makes perfect, so I'm determined to master it). Most of it is just the fact that I'm useless at timing alot of the various parry attacks that all the real Zelda pros tend to use whenever I watch them do it on YouTube videos. It's a pity in many ways that the Ancient Arrows just vaporize the whole thing without leaving any monster parts behind, or that would have made farming Lynel parts alot easier.
One thing I've not tried yet on Lynels, I wonder if shooting the horns or hooves with arrows gives you specific parts like it does with the dragons. Anyone tried this to see what happens? (I have a feeling it doesn't and you still have to kill the whole thing before it gives you anything at all for Lynels). But I'm gonna experiment with this and see if I can discover any specific ways to get specific results this way. (Probably won't work, but would be great if it turns out we can!)

I don't know if this was mentioned before, but you can now see on the map if you took whatever is in a chest within a shrine. So if you did, you'll see a chest icon next to the name of the shrine you selected.
I finally can erase all those icons on my map... or I just never noticed this in the first place, if so, ignore what I just said.

...and @Spanjard, that tip about chest icons next to Shrines is great! Never noticed that before! Could come in very, very handy - I always try not to rush through Shrines so that I find all of the chests, but I always have this nagging doubt that I may have missed a few along the way! That should help a lot - thanks for sharing!

I got distracted by Kart. I still have about 5 shrines to find and 6 "Major Test" ones I'm saving so I can harvest the Guardian Weapon ++ one at a time from them to go lynel hunting with ancient armor. Maybe Ganon too (haven't done him yet.) I missed the one in the castle last time through. I have one riddle one to do...so I think 4-5 I haven't located yet.
@Spanjard YES! That's awesome! I ran out of stamps a long time ago...the're all over my map.
It's quite a useful feature. I think I noticed about 10-20 shrines in, and then made sure to fully 'chest' every shrine from that point on. Often, getting the chests can be considerably harder than just finishing the shrine, so it's worth doing. I wish it counted towards overall completion rate though, as the cheats require more ingenuity than most Korok seeds
Question about Korok seeds, the ones that you trigger and its a yellow circle in the distance what are you suppose to do to activate it and get the seed?
I have tried shooting arrows through it but they don't reach
Decided to start playing this game again last night after leaving it for a month or so....had a facepalm moment.
Found a new shrine, so I decided to go in and complete it....SECONDS after entering the shrine I get hit by a giant ball and was knocked into a pool of lava. lol
