A little update. On the last page I complained that I'd been locked out a whole faction questline and a small side quest by repeated crashes at exactly the same spots. (Two Knights and a Troll quest in the House of Ballads faction questline, and the side quest Tirin's Secret).
Well, I kept popping back occasionally to try them, and this time both quests worked fine. I don't know what changed, other than different weapons/outfit and being many levels higher, but no problems this time.

Very much enjoying this game, the whole look of it, the combat, the stories presented in the main and side quests. I even find the menu system really good, oddly, considering they came in for particular criticism in reviews.

It's kinda World of Warcraft mixed with the combat of God of War (the old PS2/PS3 version of God of War)

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Hey Listen! 😀 I want to thank you for your insight into "Re-Reckoning". You convinced me to play it! If you like Zelda-style adventures, I recommend that you play the Darksiders saga. Now you can finally play all 4 of them on the Switch! I played the first two on Wii U. Great!

@Link_80 Wow, thanks for letting me know that this thread actually got replies! I completely forgot about it. It's awesome to know that you and other people here are getting to enjoy this fine wine of an action RPG! I'm so happy that so many people are riding the Kingdoms Of Amalur Switch Hype Train! Next stop: a long-overdue sequel!
Thanks for recommending the Darksiders games - I'll definitely be playing them soon, starting from the first one! I just can't get enough Zelda clones! Cheers

@Solomon18 I don't remember ever having seen an Xbox or PlayStation owner complaining about releases like these. That's something apparently completely unique to Nintendo fans...

I agree, and it bugs me too that a decent amount of Switch fans complains about getting a re-release of a great game from a previous generation. When music fans see that an excellent album from the 70s is getting re-released on CD, they sing glory glory halleluyah, because they like good things!

It's weird but some people think that old means bad. I guess that means that while I'm listening to Jimi Hendrix, watching the films of John Cassavetes, and playing Ocarina of Time, they'll be listening to Justin Timberlake, watching John Watts movies, and playing the newest, mindless, soulless Call of Duty game.

@TheWingedAvenger You made my day! We are on the same wavelength! 😉 A couple of days ago i was looking for information related to the game and among the various google results I found your thread. I tried to sign up but when I confirmed the form the site always came out with an error signal! I tried again the next day but ... Ditto! 😅 Then I had the intuition to try with a ".com" email instead of ".it" and I was finally able to register! So... Here we go! 😃

@TheWingedAvenger Darksiders Saga: 1. Darksiders - Wrath Of War: it is "The Swan Song" of the Wii U! 2. Darksiders II - Death Lives. 3. Darksiders III is a great little gem! I love Fury! 4. Darksiders Genesis is the prequel with War & Strife. It was created by Joe Mad! Madureira who was a member of Vigil Games, the creators of the first two games. Vigil Games became Gunfire Games (Remnant From The Ashes and Chronos Before The Ashes). Joe founded Airship Syndicate (Battle Chasers Nightwar which completes the comic he created that I read on Cliffhanger! twenty years ago! 🙂).

@TheWingedAvenger PS Have you already purchased the Switch version of Kingdoms Of Amalur? It has already received patches.

@TheWingedAvenger Skyrim for Switch has the distinction of supporting an avalanche of amiibo! Plus you can retrieve the chest containing Link's epic gear that you can keep permanently. On the other hand, amiibo loot lasts only 24 hours. It may not have the graphics of the most powerful consoles but this feature makes it a "Nintendo-game" more than ever! 🙂

@Link_80 Yeah I've already beaten the Switch version of Kingdoms of Amalur, so I guess I won't experience the patches until I play through it again. I'm sure I will eventually! I got the cartridge, by the way.

I've watched reviews of the Darksiders games and they all definitely look like my cup of tea. I'll probably start the first game next weekend. Speaking of Chronos Before the Ashes, I have the game but I haven't played it yet. I bought it because I heard someone say it was a good Dark Souls clone, and I tend to download those games on Switch when I see them as they're few and far between on the platform. Darksiders Genesis looks a lot like Diablo, another game and genre that I like, so I'll probably give that a go soon!

Skyrim runs well on the Switch - I'm sure the other versions have more pixels and megapixels, but I'm happy to play these great games in handheld mode. The key factor to me is being free to move around the house instead of being tethered to the TV. I don't have any amibos but if I recall correctly there's a way to get the Zelda gear without having the amibos. I'll probably check out a video about that so I can get my hands on Link's stuff!

Speaking of Elder Scrolls, it's interesting that the designer of Kingdoms of Amalur was also the designer of Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I always thought that was the best-looking Elder Scrolls game because of its medieval setting, and KOA has that sort of vibe. He also created a combat system for KOA that puts all the Elder Scrolls games to shame.

So why do you have a .it email address? Are you Italian?

A presto, Link!

@TheWingedAvenger We can say that Switch is the natural evolution of Wii U. The release of Steam Deck could be a thorn in the side for the Big N; even if the cost is a little less accessible. Unfortunately the idea of convertibility appealed to the masses but now the need for a more powerful console is perceived. I have never cared about performance but it is clear that we are light years away from the days of GameCube! The fear of the fans is precisely that Metroid Prime 4 will not have the technological impact of the original if it comes out on the current generation of consoles. We'll see ... Yes, Skyrim has the default chest beyond amiibo support. That remains a subtlety on Bethesda's part ... I love the publisher THQNordic a lot and I try to get their games ... I'm Italian brother! Here with me it's 1:42 in the morning!

@TheWingedAvenger Tonight before sleeping it occurred to me that "Kingdome: Come Deliverance" could do for you: it's set in medieval times as you like it! Also, if you enjoy reading while playing, there are many historical explanations of customs and traditions. It was a hit for Warhorse Studios; so much so that THQNordic immediately incorporated them into its first party team. Saber Interactive is creating the port for Switch. A great dev team: Halo 1 and 2 Anniversary, World War Z, Crysis Remastered and none other than The Witcher 3 for Switch!

TheWingedAvenger

@Link_80 You're right: Kingdom Come Deliverance looks like it would be right up my alley. I saw an article here on Nintendo Life about a future port to the Switch and when I watched a review of it I decided I would definitely buy it! Crysis and The Witcher III are awesome on Switch, so I have high expectations for Kingdom Come as well.
The Wii U was a great system, but when it came out I kept putting off buying it because I had the 3DS, which had a great library, including many of the same games. I never bought a Wii U, but I loved the idea that you could play in another room instead of being restricted to the TV. That's the reason I like the Switch, 3DS and PSP. I play handheld 90% of the time, not on the train or plane but at home. I often move between the kitchen and the living room, so handheld is the best option for me.
You may be right about the Steamdeck becoming a solid competitor to the Switch, what with all the PC games turning portable. I just hope it doesn't overtake the Switch in sales, because I want Nintendo to keep the number-one position they currently hold on the market. I'm just more a fan of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, F-Zero and Pokemon than I am a fan of PC games. Most of my favorite PC/Xbox/PS games are on the Switch anyway: Kingdoms of Amalur, The Witcher III, Skyrim, Crysis, KOTOR, etc.
You're definitely right about the need for more horsepower on the Switch in order to appeal to a larger audience. I expect Nintendo to release a Switch Pro which will be able to play all regular Switch games with better resolution plus certain games that will only work optimally on the Pro. These newer games will either work poorly on the old Switch (such as Hyrule Warriors on the old 3DS) or not work at all on it (like Xenoblade didn't work on the old 3DS).
Your English is flawless, so I imagine you must have spent a ton of time in the UK or something! I'm Italian American and lived in Rome for many years, so my Italian is just as good as my English
Cheers, bro!

@TheWingedAvenger Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad to know that you lived in Italy and speak Italian ... I never imagined such a surprise when I wrote to you for the first time. I am Italian-Austrian. If you happen to come back to Italy, I will gladly make you visit my region. I live in the same region where they filmed the italian job ... Back to Nintendo ... I'm sorry they left the 3DS. I would have created a 3DS with a custom Tegra chip to run beautiful portable games. Playing the same title you would do on TV is interesting but I preferred to have the Zelda adventure on TV and the pocket one. As it has been done for thirty years! They would go on to sell two unreleased titles from the same franchise instead of just one! (Remember the Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion pairing? You could connect the GBA with the GC to unlock the "Fusion Suit" and the original Metroid for NES! Or Radio Tingle by connecting the GBA to the GC by playing the wonderful "Wind Waker" ...) Switch Lite, indeed, was created specifically for games like Pokémon, Zelda Link's Awakening and Metroid Dread ... The games that you could have experienced on an enhanced 3DS! With the choice made, they lost a slice of the market that they dominated; having created it since the first GameBoy. If, on the other hand, Switch were more powerful, they could create a Metroid Prime in step with the times! Focusing on technically sumptuous TV games like the competitors! Sales are stratospheric for the classic Switch (and those of the Lite suffer as expected); but as a purist I twist my nose a little... I find it simply absurd that Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are Metroid-style games done as they should be and that Nintendo just stood there and watched. Journey To The Savage Planet is also clearly inspired by Metroid Prime and is a beautiful game! Nintendo must react!

Was I long-winded !? ☺

@Link_80 Thanks for the invitation, man! Sadly I can't go to Italy because if I did I wouldn't be able to come back to Moscow where I work and live. Bureaucracy
Nintendo's home console sales may have been harmed by their own portable systems. It was a smart move to combine the two markets into one console in the Switch! I'm a huge fan of the 3DS - I still play it a lot as it's the perfect size and has a ton of enthralling games. It's a portable system that plays triple-A games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Dragon Quest VII and VIII, Ocarina of Time, Monster Hunter Stories, awesome Monster Hunter games, some of the best Pokemon games, Etrian Odyssey Nexus, Kid Icarus Uprising, Ever Oasis, 3 great Fire Emblem games, PES 2013, Resident Evil Revelations, two Luigi's Mansion games, Xenoblade, Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, Minecraft, and the list just never ends. I'd be happy even just with my New 2DS XL and no other consoles
