@ThanosReXXX I'm really glad other people get to experience those games but I would still like something new to play as well.

I get quite a bit of free time and can spend around 15 hours on a day off chilling and gaming so can get through quite a few games in a month. Even when I'm working I usually get 2-3 hours in as I take my switch to work with me.
I'm not a collector so will burn through a game and will trade/sell or delete it once I'm done and move onto something else.

In fairness I'm the same with most of my hobbies. We were talking about comics the other day. I get my subscription through and will sit and read them all at once, only to moan for the rest of the month I've got nothing to read. One of the joys of ADHD lol.

@ThanosReXXX yes I DO realize that. But who says I am giant Nintendo fan? I said I was HYPED for Amalur but wish there were more games built from the ground up for the console. I wasn't complaining about the release I was complaining about the lack of exclusives. So WHAT EVER!!

I just hope this sells well along with the PS4 and Xbox versions so that way we can get the MMO finally.

@Mr-Fuggles777 Don't get me wrong: I can understand wanting to play something new, but that was also my secondary point: if you take a look at the eShop, then there's LITERALLY thousands of games available. Sure, some of it is mobile trash or simply shovelware, but over the years, I've found plenty of gems in between them, and some are indeed unique to the Switch, or at least: unique to consoles, and only coming to Switch and PC.

Trading/selling games is an absolute no go for me. I still own ALL of my consoles, handhelds and all the games that go with it, so literally many hundreds, probably not to far from a thousand...

Still own all of my comics as well.

@Solomon18 Well now, no need for any hostility, I wasn't being sarcastic or offensive, just making an observation and besides that, genuinely wondering how the same game is perceived in a decidedly different light when released on the other two consoles.

Getting back on topic......

I played this game on my Xbox Series X last night (It's free to play this weekend for Gold members) and I will say that it is still alot of fun. I played about 4 hours last night and was hooked again all over. The visuals however are dated and you can tell playing on a Series X. If you are one of those gamers where graphics and visuals are a must then I suggest probably playing it on the Switch.

Still though I am sure sites will be doing comparisons between the versions. Gameplay wise it's still fun.

@Solomon18 It was more the "whatever" part.

@ThanosReXXX yeah? well, it is not polite and very presumptuous on your part to be going around labelling people. I don't consider myself to be a "Nintendo fan" I just appreciate great games. And I wasn't complaining about this release I was commenting on the lack of exclusives to be found on the Switch. So, whateva..

@Tasuki
normally like the remake of spyro( for me spyro on switch was totally an upgrade when you compared with the original ps1, it was very stupid for people compared with ps4 pro version ) i will only check comparison with the original game in this case the version xbox360/ps3 so i pretty sure i will be amazed

@Solomon18 I wasn't labeling you at all. If that's what you got from my initial comment, then you most definitely misinterpreted it. I was making the observation that these kinds of comments predominantly come from gamers on Nintendo platforms, even if it concerns games that are released on all the other platforms as well. I just find that typical, that's all.

@ThanosReXXX OK. Ya know I read a lot of Silver Surfer growing up, I highly recommend the 13 part animated series.. thanks

@Solomon18 Thanks for the recommendation. I happen to like the Silver Surfer, so I'll look into it.

P.S.

If you also read/like digital comics, then I can definitely recommend visiting GetComics:

@Slowdive Yeah, the back story about the games development and release is definitely sad. A lot of highly talented people definitely got the short end of the stick there...

Took a punt on this, as Skyrim/Dragon's Dogma/BotW/Outer Worlds type games are my thing. The reviews weren't brilliant though, mostly focusing on how it hasn't been particularly updated and is now feeling a bit creaky.

I must say, I find the environment graphics (playing handheld) just fine. It's much less grim than Skyrim, if not BotW stunning. The world does seem less open than other games though, it feels as if you are mainly guided down paths to get anywhere. Character models are quite dated, especially in cut scenes, sometimes the characters can be talking but stood at 90 degrees to each other! The menus came in for review criticism, but I'm finding them pretty easy to navigate. Load times are a slight pain, every time you enter or leave a building.

But, the game is fun. The combat is satisfyingly flashy, taking down groups a joy. It feels like you can't go ten paces without picking up a side mission at times, but that's cool unless you prefer to stumble more on things, Skyrim style.

I'm nearly 30 hours in, and really enjoying it.

But. There has to be a but.

One of the faction quests involves talking to an NPC. My game crashes every single time at the same piece of dialogue. And since yesterday I can't access the building where the NPC is, the game crashes at the door.
Hitting Google, it appears the Two Knights and a Troll quest is broke for a lot of people, and not just on Switch. I've tried various offered solutions, lines of dialogue, changing armour... but nope.
It's a shame, because it's not a single quest that's broke, it's part of a faction storyline, which means I'm locked out the whole line.

@Mii_duck I appreciate the balanced write-up. Been wondering whether to add this to my Switch collection or not. I had promised the Devs a Day 1 purchase on Twitter when this was announced, but when it launched on Switch, attitudes towards the game had cooled quite a lot and, while it still seems worth experiencing, I think I can settle for having it in my Xbox backlog for now.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@gcunit - it's definitely worth a play if it's your type of game.
I think it's one of those that's easy to be critical of in a review, but once you are just playing it and get into it it's really enjoyable. The whole is better than the pieces, if that makes sense.
It's quite beautiful in places too.

As well as the Two Knights and a Troll faction questline, I'll add the side quest Tirin's Secret to the 'always crashes at the same point' list.

Annoying.

I might grab this when they've released the new expansion they're working on. I wish more developers did that: released expansions for old games. There's never really any reason not to, they just typically haven't.

I've said many times they should've released another Witcher 3 expansion, even though it's a 5-year old game. People would still buy it in the millions.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Magician

Aside from the frequent and long-ish load times this port is solid. Dabbled for a couple hours so far and have found it just as entertaining as when I first played it way back when. Just good old swords and sorcery adventuring, kind of hard to go wrong with. Makes me hopeful THQ Nordic / Embracer Group have more resurrections (hint hint wink wink) planned for the Switch.

I always hold out hope for a port of Dead Island Definitive Edition on Switch, considering there's almost zero chance of getting of port of Dying Light on Switch.
