Only a few plays on mine so far, nobody beat it. It's really not tricky or anything, just constrained with some enemies in the way. Give it a try if you get a chance!
Remade the first level of Easton Kingdom from Super Mario Land, aka 3-1. Its Course ID is 2HQ-QL3-5QF, and if you'd like to try my other remake of Birabuto Kingdom's second level (1-2), the code for that one is FK2-39K-J5G. For my other, non-remake courses, my Maker ID is JDJ-X9X-4KF.
Thanks again for your suggestions! Last night, I went in and applied a door in the ice pit that leads to the entrance, and I expanded a few areas, polished up a few others, etc. your suggestions helped to make it a better level!
What I did with MM1, and I’ll do with MM2, is instead of making a large variety of levels, I’ll put a lot of effort into a few, then revise them per suggestions. I try to stay away from making levels that feel like a punishment to get through. I’ve seen some amazing creations, but I’ve seen far too many of the “let’s see them get through THIS” levels, which is what I’ve been trying to avoid.
"Return From Beyond"
2WS-507-NMG
This is a slightly tweaked and improved version of my now-deleted first level to Mario Maker 2. It's a fairly short and easy level that tells a story, so it shouldn't give less-experienced players too many problems to complete.
"Thwomp Surfing"
6HP-2XK-90H
Basically what the title implies: you ride on Thwomps. There are also some Red Koopa Troopas and some on/off spike blocks to contend with along the way, not to mention the sub level involves a slow-moving vertical autoscroll to add to the challenge. Intended more so for intermediate players, but I think anyone can do it if they have enough patience.
"Your Best Nightmare"
19H-23X-VRF
A level loosely inspired by Chara from Undertale, and definitely one of the harder levels I've made thus far. Certainly not impossible though! A lot of patience and timing is needed to get through the two major hurdles before the boss fight in this one, but I do have some well-placed checkpoints to help alleviate how much has to be done in one go. Ideal for intermediate players.
"Fraidy Cat"
MDG-9NX-MDF
A themed story/exploration level where you are a cat that transverses a ghost and rat-filled mansion. Fairly simple and should be good for beginners. You just need to reach the goal as Cat Mario.
Else, I hope you have fun with these! I'll be sure to check out some other levels on this thread. <3
@rallydefault Just gave it a try and I sort of see why people aren't completing it. I gave a small comment on the course itself, but I'd like to elaborate here too. The reason isn't necessarily that the level is bad, it's just that there are a LOT of obstacles to overcome right from the get-go. It was a little frustrating for me to get past both the see-saw with the munchers underneath followed by the TWO Hammer Bros shortly after that. I am, however, speaking as someone who isn't incredibly skilled at Mario games, so do take my next advice with a grain of salt.
I'd suggest actually removing the munchers and/or at LEAST the first Hammer Bro to make the beginning of the level a bit more enticing to players. You have a good level of difficulty there already, but it gets tiring trying to deal with the RNG of those throwing hammers. It doesn't make for the most pleasant experience trying to get through numerous times.
All that said, I see what you were trying to go for and it was a good attempt for a first level! I'm just offering my two cents as to why people haven't cleared it yet. If this level is meant for more experienced players, I would just give it a bit more time is all.
@CelticMagician
Dude no apologies needed, that is excellent feedback! I was thinking of getting rid of one of the hammer Bros., actually. I agree that I'm probably throwing too much at people too quickly. Heck, just the seesaw and a koopa troops is probably fine for a little bit.
A fast paced game where you shoot and dodge to earn victory. Enemies drop from pipes above. Shoot down 80 Goombas in 60 seconds or less to emerge victorious. Will you be the fastest?
What happened to returning the favour of playing/liking other people's levels? I thought that was common courtesy in MM1? Apparently not so much anymore. I've played about 30 people's levels by now and not a single one has returned the favour by playing mine. :/
@BanjoPickles - Awesome! I can’t wait to try the new version! I’m glad I was able to help. I totally understand what you mean about taking time to create a great unique and creative level. I’m the same way.
