So I loveee loveee loveee old street fighter especially the "alphas" but i was also excited for street fighter 4 pre order... and then a day or 2 before ive been told that its a special "Mode" for switch players... i hope they port street fighter 4 over to give us a taste of old street fighter and new
World Warrior and New Challengers are a bit tougher than their SNES ports(not much though). However Super 2 Turbo is hard as nails, I never played a console iteration of Super Turbo, but I can't imagine it being this hard. Even on the default difficulty of 4, I'm having a hard time getting past even the first three challengers. No other game in the collection has given me that much of a challenge on 4.
@MrET I'm not a huge fan of SFIV, but I do wish it comes to Switch. That game has been ported in pretty much anywhere and I'd like a modern-ish Street Fighter game on the system.
I do not understand why Street Fighter II Champion Edition has sooooooooo much slow down! It sort feels like all the SFII games that were ported run like complete crap. I have not had many issues with the Alpha series and SFIII games.
@Malcrash I imagine it will come. Ultra SFII sold very well last year to warrant bringing Anniversary Collection to the Switch and already the Switch is a heaven for fighters such as the Neo Geo retro releases, that SNK Heroines game, and even DragonballZ being heavily rumored. Since V will never happen since Sony funded that game, IV is the next best thing.
Would love if this Collection lead to a Marvel Vs Capcom Collection with everything from XMen Children of the Atom to Marvel Vs Capcom 2 being included. True Infinite failed to deliver, but this would be such easy money plus Disney have been giving the AKO on rereleasing older titles (Disney Afternoon Collection, the OG XBox Star Wars games for Backwards Compatibility, etc. ) so it can't be hugely impossible.
@gcunit I think it depends what expectations or hopes you have for it.
It is a fantastic collection. If you pretty much just see yourself playing offline, casually against CPU opponents and only have the JoyCon or Pro Controller. I think it is a solid buy.
My complaints have been the online. In my limited experience so far, this definitely needs attention from Capcom. It is only a notch above broken online with many games affected by lag.
Also, I personally, am having a hard time deciding on what control method I find the most successful to pull off the special moves consistently. This is only because I bought an Arcade Stick as a treat for myself for this game in particular. So I have been somewhat dismayed and surprised to find I actually have more success using the much maligned D-Pad on the Switch Pro Controller over a ÂŖ115 Arcade Stick. So I'm now even considering buying another recommended controller for the same game. Which is a little bit insane. This is something I never anticipated and hence is a purely subjective issue I have had with the game so far.
So like I said above, if you aren't fussy about controllers, don't intend to play online much. There's pretty much only positives with the game.
@gcunit The HORI Arcade Stick? Yeah I play with it on my lap, wired to the dock via USB.
Aside from FIFA 18, key Nintendo 1st Party titles. All my game time is spent on arcade games. So even if I don't manage to get good at this game with the stick, I'll still get plenty of use out of it for all the Arcade Archives, Neo-Geo and other arcade titles I own on Switch. Although, I think it is simply, as others here have said, that I am just not used to the stick yet and that it just takes time and practice.
So we had a little group of us over on the Adult Switch Gamers thread have a Games Night on this last night. Good laugh but as it was our first time out we noticed a couple of things:
1) The lag seems to be region dependent. Player to Player connection, games we played where both people were on the same continent were largely rock solid and a vast improvement on all our previous experience fighting randoms. We then played with one of us Europe based and one of us North America based and the game lagged again like the online had been since launch. So I'm no tech guy but this seems to suggest there aren't dedicated servers or anything. It is purely down to how close you are location wise to your opponent as to what kind of connection experience you are going to have.
2) There seemed to be a 4 player limit to lobbies which sort of sucks. These lobbies also can be filled by randoms it seems? There does seem to be a private lobby option but I didn't see a password system?
3) Can anyone explain how the Switch exclusive tournament mode works? Is this only for SUPER STREET FIGHTER II and is it online enabled? Basically, how does it work and how many players can it support?
4) Finally, if you fancy taking part in a future games night, let us know and tell us your region over in the Adult Switch Gamers thread. We can then organise and create continent specific lobbies and you can then have some actually lag-free (mostly) online matches.
@Lroy If you're up for a few matches later let me know. We can try it out.UK to Thailand is far but I'm curious if it will still be playable. I could be getting matched with folk from North America for all I know. The game isn't out in Japan until the Autumn.
