To the people who complaint that they are making Splatoon 3 instead of a new entry on a old franchise: Splatoon is very popular, especially in Japan. And yeah, those glorious Nintendo Online subscription fees...

I feel more and more that we never see a new f-zero, Mario and luigi, Warioland, etc, etc. All those games either didn't sell enough and/or aren't huge in Japan. Japan's taste has completely drifted away from the west. Of course it was already different, but they also had taste for big and very good single-player games. Now it seems mostly dragon quest and monster hunter (I know those are big) and for the rest mostly breezy smartphone games. That's why the new Nintendo boss said they wanted to push the Switch more and more into smartphone area, games-wise. You also see it with Konami: Their whole portfolio is on lockdown, sort of. We never see new entry's in their franchises ever again.

Although I must say Nintendo might go for the gigantic sales nowadays. I mean: In the past they might have been happy if a game sold half a million times, but maybe they now only make games that are guaranteed to sell millions of times.

So does anyone else think we will see a bit more Splat3 info at E3?

@octokid Nah, it's out next year and they need to be showcasing this year's line up which is almost a blank after July.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see any of Splatoon 3 at E3. I imagine we’ll see something in a direct later this year. Would be happy to be proven wrong tho!

I wonder how many different weapons will be in Splatoon 3! They showed the "normal" ones like the blaster, or the basic charger. Also, I think that Nintendo has not choice but to talk a little more about Splatoon 3 In E3.

They have gone years without talking about Zelda, Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 etc so I can see them not feeling forced to show off Splatoon.

Wish I had the option to play Splaoon 1's single player on the Switch. I don't care if it's not as good as Splatoon 2. I'd love to play through it.

It seems the second half of the trailer is likely glimpses of the new single player. Love a lot of the theming, the upside down city buildings, rocket launch pad facility, etc. That dj broccoli boss guy in a mech suit at 1:35. Just rewatched the second half at 25% & 50% play speed. Pasted vid to start at the halfway point.

@WoomyNNYes Splatoon 1 SP is probably better than 2. But having Octo Expansion makes 2 the better package (if you ignore price).

Looks like more of the same just with a different flavour.

I thought they'd do a fully fledged single player campaign this time around, as they had much more resources and time on their hands after "rushed" Splatoon 2... but nope, not the case here, it's the same mission based design with 1 hub and 5-10 hours of gameplay to warm you up before online matches.
Sadly, I'll most probably pass on Splatoon 3.

@Noel360 I brought the conversation to the existing Splatoon 3 general thread.

My hopes? I'd love if there's a split screen two player. And, hear me out on this, I hope Splatoon 3 is, like? good? Like, ya know?😁

I'd also like a new salmon run, horde mode-type game again. I had a great time with Salmon Run. I think I played Salmon Run for over 100 hours. - Unless Nintendo has some other new idea up their sleeve.

I'd also like the Switch to say which game mode Switch Friends are playing when they are online. That would make it way easier to join friends in-game. Rocket League's friends window(in-game) says what game mode they are playing.

StarPoint

I would also love a split-screen multiplayer mode. I think that feature is sorely lacking from Splatoon 2. I wouldn't care if it meant downgraded graphics or a lower framerate, the option should be there.

I think the multiplayer features should be a little easier to navigate, especially joining other friends. It's a pain in Splatoon 2.

And for goodness' sake, Nintendo, what happened to Squid Jump??? Why was this removed? It was such a nice feature.

I sound like I'm hating on Splatoon 2 but I love it. I just think there were some areas that could definitely use some improvement.

My only hope is that you can join up in lobbies before you go online with friends.
It was always so annoying trying to join someone.

I've had an idea for a new weapon that I think could be really cool. It's basically a palette utility belt. What it does is locks you out of a main weapon (aside from a short-ranged melee attack) but in exchange enhances your sub and special to an insane degree. You could also make it a generic weapon with the ability to switch paints in order to apply different effects like stunning, increased speed, higher damage, higher ink coverage, etc. These effects could be applied to the whole team or at least everyone in your vicinity, making it a full blown support weapon which I don't believe we have yet. I like the first idea better but I think they're both pretty cool.

I knew I made the right move waiting to get 2, I got into the switch pretty late, and Everyone was asking for a three, I knew they would have one at some point, Can't wait for this game!

@Snatcher I got 2 after most of the Splatfests had ended but I still had a fantastic time. Honestly, if it wasn't for 2, I wouldn't be nearly as excited for 3 than I am now. Still need to get Octo Expansion at some point, Animal Crossing has it's grip on my wallet now until March.

i like the split screen mode that your talking about, but I don’t think there will be any salmon run because you have a salmon partner. The friends thing would be cool too

So i have been thinking for AGES. As you can tell i am obsessed with Splatoon. So my ideas:
Split Screen, hopefully
PLEASE GOD MORE SALMON RUN STAGES (no idea if the one from the Direct is new)
Adding more offline modes
An apartment (you can decorate it with furniture you spend your G on)
And the end! No.. not the minecraft end… that would be weird in Splatoon. The end of my monologue.

I'm seeing folk moan that Splatoon 3 should just be 2 DLC but potentially I could see 3 being played completely differently from the other 2.

One of things seen in the trailers is that you can choose where to start on the maps now rather than at the respawn point, that could be HUGE. The maps are symmetrical so it doesn't give one team an advantage from when you start but if you don't start at a fixed point anymore you could now have maps which are completely different from not having to stick to the symmetrical map design as well as changing your approach to matches. When you respawn you spray your half on the area whilst moving into the opponents, so if you're not starting at that the furthest point anymore you will get to the action quicker as well as thinking about what areas you need to get to more.
