While I love the new lobby/training room and the ability to meet up with your ghost-friends there in real time, I was a little sad when I realized that the lobby really undermines the whole festival atmosphere of the Splatfests. In the prior games, you were always in the town so you were in the middle of the carnival but with this new system I spent 95% of my time sitting in the lobby and rarely saw the Splatfest party out in Splatsville. I kinda wish they'd "broadcast" the Splatfest party/parade on the big screen in the lobby.

@Octane Thanks for the info about single player. That's good to know, but it's still going to be hard to pick it up for $60. Maybe someday down the line if it's on sale, which unfortunately isn't that common with 1st party games it seems.

@Captiosus Yeah, we have to load the training room/lobby in order to look for a match. I can see that point. That is an extra step. On the other hand, now we don't have to sit idle looking at a static screen while we wait for the game to find players. You can play in the training room while you wait. I recall being annoyed when player-finding-waits could be longer than normal, and the in-game countdown would get close to zero, then unpredictably start all over again, and you were locked into that wait - the game didn't give you an option to quit. Granted, I do kind of miss playing around with waiting music.

@KilloWertz when that large scale dlc comes out the base game of Splatoon 3 will probably go on sale and this will probably be the only time it does go on sale just like when Octo Expansion DLC came out Splatoon 2 went on sale

@KilloWertz If you're interested, you can probably pick up Splatoon 2 for a discount. I'm not sure if the DLC is included with newer copies, but I think both the main campaign and the DLC make up a sizable game. I played a lot of online in Splatoon 1, but I only got 2 for the single player. I hadn't played much of the online stuff until recently (I think I put around 100 hours into it in the last couple of months alone).

@octokid We were absolutely slaughtered. I'm gonna be talking like a war veteran 5 years from now once Splatoon 3's updates are done:

@CodyMKW Thanks for the heads up. If I ever decide to actually pick up Splatoon 3, I'll try to remember to do it whenever DLC drops.

@Octane Thanks for the suggestion, but I'll pass on 2 with 3 just around the corner. If these were singe player story games, it would be different, but I'll just wait on 3 to go on sale if I ever decide to pick up a Splatoon game.

So I’ve heard from some people that the Tri-Turf War felt pretty unbalanced. I didn’t get a chance to play it so I was wondering what made it feel off for some?

@KilloWertz There is a surprisingly amount of story and lore in these games..!

@StarPoint It was impossible to win tri-color matches as scissors.
If one of the signals got taken, it was game over.

Either they need to nerf the power of the ultra signals, or increase the capturing time.

@Octane I did not know that, but does any of it carry over at all? If not, I'll just stick with 3 if I ever get a Splatoon game.
