Oh nice, it looks like Fresh Season 2024 goes live in just a few hours! I always forget February is the shortest month in the whole year LOL.. Bonerattle Arena, let's go!
As someone whose dad is a huge music guy, I'm already digging the music-themed splatfest. I don't know what I wanna pick though... all of them are sweet choices!

Classical violinist here, HELP โ what should I pick? I (sort of) played piano as a kid, so I have a bit of key-instrument ptsd. I know nothing about drums or guitar, but I'm leaning towards drums, just because it's really nice to play with someone who keeps a steady beat. Then again, the question is what instrument would I play, and realistically, that's got to be keyboard. Please, someone help me pick. I'll be faithful to any team that evangelizes me, I promise!!!
I like Marlin Airport and Bonerattle Arena. With the former I particularly like how the fans add extra depth to Anarchy Battle like in Clam Blitz and Rainmaker you can make the platforms near your base rise as an extra defense but at the same time doing so makes you more prone to specials such as Triple Splashdown.
As for the latter, I like how inkrails are used to be able to quickly get around the map and how as a result it makes annoying phases like glowflies much less painful. Just have the teammate that has the glowflies stay on an inkrail and the rest of the team can pick off the salmonids below.
I haven't played all modes on Marlin Airport yet, but I would already rank it as one of the best stages. Definitely gives off that Sunshine Airport vibe, but done in the world of Splatoon. And OMG, you can haul so many eggs on Bonerattle Arena! Definitely shaping up to be my favorite SR map to date, but I'll still have to give it some more time. Also, the terrible animations on the Salmonid spectators is hilarious. I'm sure they're like that to help with the framerate, but it's still funny.
The new Arena SR map has a strange vibe compared to any other SR map. It plays totally different. Low tide is very interesting. Everything feels very small but wide open at the same time.
Oh!... And the new pink/purple slop suit is absolutely AMAZING! I like it a lot... Absolutely my style! โค๏ธ
@vio
The framerate of the background Salmonids reminds me of old school games. Like Street Fighter or Football(Soccer) games.
Speaking of framerate. The Samonids far away on the stage got a lower framerate in their animation. That was made in the recent update.
@Budda I like the new SR map & it's dystopian future theme. I think it looks a bit of Water World, and a bit Mad Max). Although, I had to demote myself from EVP to Pro 2 just so I could complete three waves.(same old heavily-newb population online here).
Douser Dualies in new map: It's hard to stay on the central pedestal by the basket if you dodge roll. I don't like how far they dodge roll. I think, so far, it's been annoying. But they do work pretty well otherwise. It's nice to get a new weapon with decent range.
I can't get excited about the Berry Gloopsuit(150 silver scales). Although, the Lime & Peach Gloopsouits do look good, and they're 50 silver scales. I'm sitting on 137 silver scales, so I may get one or both of those.
@BingleyBongley If you didn't enjoy playing the piano (it sounded like you didn't to me), then I'd say drums. Otherwise, pick the keyboard. Hope this helped.

Just went ahead and played some anarchy series battles, since Splat Zones is my best mode... and it's been a fun time. I didn't win a whole series, but I did get to rank up for the first time thanks to the wins and medals I've gotten. I do like how you don't lose any points for losing series battles... as long as you're at least getting medals, you'll be getting some points from those. You just have to pay some rank points to play if you're at rank C or better. I've once had a series session where I didn't win a single time, but the game still gave me points for the medals I've gotten.
It's been a while since I played Tower Control, so I wanna try that when I get a chance. I recall being ok-ish at that. I'm not very good at Rainmaker and Clam Blitz, though.

@WoomyNNYes
I had to get used to the map first. I play like a total noob if I'm not used to a game, or in this case the map. I thought many times, what the heck am I doing?! I always unnecessarily die in weird situations. It's almost embarrassing. ๐
But I got the hang of the map and got above EVP400 pretty quickly.
To me, the low framerate background salminds just looked like evidence that even Nintendo's own Splatoon devs expected to have an upgraded console with more power by now. If the backgrounds salmonid animations are supposed to look like an endearing(comically ironic) retro game aesthetic, I think most splatoon players born after 1995 won't see that. Forgive me if that assumption is off.
Anyway, I do like the new SR map. It certainly took me a while to get my bearings with the new map, but like that challenge.
(now if I could just find teammates that will paint the ____ing walls. Ahhh!! Like, nobody is painting the walls around the central pedestal that we spawn on. <Face palm emoticon>.)
