Do splatfest T'shirt abilities not work??? I've played three matches, 1 win, 2 losses, and there's no points filling the ability slots. What's the deal?

@WoomyNNYes There's no experience or anything in the demo. Just gotta make do with two main abilities this time around.

@BenAV Oh, so I'm wearing the splatfest T in battle like a sucker?? That's amazing. I guess I'll throw back on the default shirt with quick respawn abilty. Thanks BenAV

Edit, oh yeah, we can't take off the splatfest T. Guess we're stuck. Ok.

@WoomyNNYes Unfortunately we can't change the shirt so no ability at all for the shirt. Just the main abilities from the headgear and shoes.

I feel like I'm missing out and confused at the same time.

I've only done 2 matches and both times my team got spawn killed.

This demo has made me remember I'm horrid at shooters and online games. Splatoon is not for me sadly, glad you guys are having fun though.

@WoomyNNYes I tried joining your room, but the game won't let me since we're both on different teams. Come on, Nintendo...

@MarioLover92 What team are you on? We could potentially join up if we're both Scissors!

@Fizza I'm on Team Rock. I tried joining you as well, but it won't let me since we're on different regions.

@MarioLover92 Ah, a shame but what can you do. I assume the whole 'not letting people on different teams join' thing is due to the fact that some people could abuse the system and intentionally throw the match so they're team gets more points.

I gotta get on and play. Rock will be victory’s yet.

@Fizza Ohhh OK, that sounds reasonable. Whatever should be done to make things more fair. Yeah I was pretty surprised that they only let you join if you're on the same team as them. By the way, I love how you can practice with your weapon in the lobby, rather than only in the weapon shop.

@MarioLover92 There's even a dummy that shoots like a regular player so that you can test defensive buffs like Big Bubbler for instance! It's far more involved than I ever thought it'd be based on the two previous ones we've had. One thing that I hope happens when the full game comes out as well is the ability to play the new card game in there as well since there's some tables for it on the upper deck

Hi sorry I'm a newbie, but is the Splatfest matchmaking the same as in the final Splatoon 3? I'm losing almost four games out of five and to be honest it's not fun to be in a team that gets pummeled again and again and again (despite personally scoring quite well each round). Matchmaking also seems to take quite long at least in Europe.

@Metabuta For regular Turf War, the game will try to put you into a lobby with players of a similar level. That might not help much around launch though with all the experienced players from Splatoon 2 also starting from square one. For the ranked modes though, you'll get matched up with players of the same rank and ranks carry over from Splatoon 2 (as long as players opt to) so hopefully that'll make things a bit more balanced for newer players there.

As for the long matchmaking thing, I think that tends to be something that happens during Splatfest more than anything else for whatever reason. Usually it's not to slow, in Splatoon 2 at least.

@Fizza Ah yeah I toyed around with that dummy as well. I used to to try out the Ink Vac. It's an awesome special if it's used well enough, but unfortunately I had trouble using it in the actual matches.

Now that the Splatfest is over, I wanted to talk about the DUMBEST THING that happened to me during it.

So I was just in the middle of a Tricolour Turf War and we were absolutely cruising, being at about 35% or something like that. Then, out of the blue, MY ENTIRE TEAM DISCONNECTS.

Literally f****** DESERTED.
