@Anti-Matter There's no way to gain money which is needed to buy clothes without doing online matches, you don't need online for story mode, you can only use one weapon in story mode(hero shot),
and you could play local 1v1 if you have a pro controller, but it wouldn't give you any money.
@Anti-Matter In Splatoon 2 & 3 you have to have an internet connection to access the store to buy clothes & weapons. I'm assuming it's the same with Spaltoon 1. Online battles are the only way to earn money. So, setting up local multiplayer won't earn money, unfortunately.
Leveling up is online mode stuff, not relevant for single player. Every time you earn a certain amount of points online, you level up. You start at level 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.. In splatoon 2 & 3, leveling up unlocks 2-4 new weapons you can buy in the online store.
In splatoon 2 & 3, you can play the full single player game no problem without internet or online modes. Nothing earned from playing online modes affects the single player game or carries over to the single player game. Everything you get in single player game is earned by your progress in the single player game. I assume it's the same for Splatoon 1.
@WoomyNNYes It's the same for Splatoon 1. You gotta stay connected online to use the shops. Except you don't have to have a paid online membership for the WiiU.

Bowing out with about 65K Clout in Splatfest Open, 75K in Tricolour and Ruler rank for Team Shiver. Didn't get to play as much as I would've wanted unfortunately due to having a ton of work to take care of (literally 15 hours of my entire weekend was spent working) but I'm still pretty happy with how things turned out and this Fest is probably the most fun I've had with Tricolour since the Splatfest Premiere over a year ago now so that was nice. Very excited to see the fallout the results are going to bring tomorrow morning 😁
also they were straight up lying when they said there were 'increased odds for 10X battles', only got a single one over the past two days 😑

Played way too much this splatfest (won a bunch of 100x). Ending at ruler+3 with 300k clout in open and 400k in pro. Didn't play much tricolour, but enjoyed the different stages. I know big man has almost no chance of winning, but I still have hope!

Managed to get my first 100x battle and won, I’m so happy! I’m satisfied with how I did, I think this was one of the Splatfests I played the most in. And now, we wait for the totally not a bloodbath in less than 2 hours… @HenryKibble also congrats! There’s nothing like that feeling of satisfaction after winning your first 100x/333x battle
@Croctopus Yeah, it's really weird how you don't get anything for winning 100x/333x battles. I also want to be able to board the squid sisters float in inkopolis!
@BingleyBongley There was a glitch that let you clip into Marie’s Splatfest truck before the halftime if that counts. No idea if it was ever patched though

@HenryKibble Super Sea Snails are used for either increasing the amount of secondary ability slots on your gear (those are your hats, clothes, or shoes), increasing your gear's star power for extra experience points, or rerolling your gear's abilities. If you wanna do any of those, you'd talk to Murch, who sits to the right of the lobby entrance. I highly recommending getting more ability slots for your gear, those can help you out quite a bit - each gear can have up to three secondary ability slots. Hope this helped!
sigh Unfortunately I only got in a few rounds of Splatfest… and only one 10x Battle! Oh well, I barely made it to Ruler rank (still can’t believe that, I had Ruler with 10/999 points lol) I am honestly very disappointed Shover won. GGs to all, though! Hopefully Shiver does well as boss. And don’t worry, Team Frye! We’ll get a spltfest win any decade now… (Frye only ever won the Spicy V Sweet V sour fest, for those who were unaware)
