Yeah, I love the glowing pastel green ink in the lobby (team grass). And the ink is always this color during splatfest. It's great - no more random ugly ink colors.
Pro mode is for solo players and Open is for teams? (I looked it up to confirm that.) Why is Open the default battle mode then? I'm going to try Pro, then.
Last night, I played Open, but won most of my matches, including a 10x (maybe I got lucky). But the story is different this morning. I'm getting crushed in Open by other teams that seem more organized, like they are a team of friends. Thanks for the heads up @BenAV.
@BenAV@BuddaWhat do you do if you fail to complete 6+ runs with a full cohozuna meter? Do you demote yourself, or stick it out?
In pro 2, when my cohozuna meter is full, I CONSTANTLY fail to complete three waves. I just failed 6 runs. Even IF I get get lucky enough to land a team to get to cohozuna, my region & matching (and possibly my lack of being able to carry newbs) means we probably will barely damage cohozuna, thus yielding the crappiest yield of scales. This is so disappointing.
This matching system seems so brutally unfair that it kills the fun. Or maybe I sit in a magical sweet spot of skill, where I can't carry the newbs that the matching system gives me.
I can get to eggsecutive, but if I do, I'm cursed with more failed runs.
@brendathecat Might I recommend switching to Pro? Open and Pro, despite their names, don't actually mean 'casual vs hardcore' in terms of matchmaking but rather 'groups allowed vs pure solos'. Maybe if you switch to purely Pro then you'll have a better time? No guarantees though.

@WoomyNNYes
If I can't find a good team for the very last Cohozuna, I'll demote back to VP40 - since the game resets to that point with a new shift anyway. This way I'm able to carry the game.
I noticed, if you manage to get to around VP200 it gets (bizarrely) easier because people actually know what they are doing. Even if the Hazard Level is a lot higher. ...It's astounding how easy it gets despite higher difficulty.
(@BenAV It doesn't really matter. The chances don't increase much. I got 4 Silver and 3 Gold at VP100. And just Bronze at VP400.)
I'm gonna pop a gasket.
Like no joke: if Grass manages to win this, then there has to be a serious discussion about Splatfests in 3. Because stuff like the opposing two teams getting even just one Ultra Signal in Tri-Colour can suck about all the fun out of these events for the defending team.
Sorry for the mild rambling, I'm just tired at this point
I’ve played for a few hours this morning but I’ve not managed to get a Tri-battle yet. This is meant to be the big new feature for 3 however I’ve only played in the demo so far.
It feels like Shiver/Grass will win, Grass probably won popularity because of the Gen 9 cat and Tricolor battles seem to favour Grass which means Grass will probably win Open meaning an overall win.

I've actually been getting them at a steady click myself. Nowhere near as much as the Testfire, but also not nearly as little as Gear V Grub V Fun, it very much feels like a middle ground between the two.

@jump Well it's a middle ground for me as the Defending team (aka someone who physically can't pick that option) so I suppose it does depend on what team your on.

@Fizza I wouldn't say the problem's been solved. I'm also on Team Water but got 1 Tricolor from a 70-minute session today (relative to 2 on a 40-minute session when playing Grub).
Played a total of 6 Tricolor matches. Total play time was about 3 hours. Better than last Splatfest but I'd still like to see them more often. Lost almost every match yesterday but had a good streak today. I'm team fire.
@Fizza Maybe I've also been getting lucky, but I've been getting way more Tricolor battles this splatfest too. In the last Splatfest I made 40 attempts and only got 1, this time within about 50 attempts I got 13. I'd say I get them about 1 in every 4 matches. Been on the attacking team both Splatfests too.
Even though it would be better if we could actually pick exactly when we want to do a tricolor battle, I feel like 1 in every 4 is just enough to keep things fresh between turf wars.
At least this time I managed to get the "Win 10 tricolor battles as an attacker" badge.
