@BLP_Software@Spanjard Ah sorry guys, I was playing for a bit about an hour ago but then had to take care of something. Just saw the email notifications.
I had actually thought about squadding too but I fear it might get too late now.
I should probably have more time in the next days though!
So Nintendo Life's own Alex Olney opened a can of worms with his video on the virtues of motion controls recently, and it's got me thinking; given the usage of motion controls what sensitivity settings do people use, especially at the top of the game? I'm not going to argue with any of the arguments put forward in the video, as I've been a staunch motion-control user since the original (despite taking a bit of time to acclimatise to them). However, I've been thinking about changing up the settings recently, and I'm wondering what the arguments are for different sensitivity options. I'm sure the ultimate answer is just 'personal preference', but I wonder if there isn't more to be said than that.
Previously, I had +1 set to both motion and sticks, with the logic that I should boost the motion control sensitivity so I could perform quick manoeuvres without having to swing the controller around wildly. However, recently I've turned the stick sensitivity up, and the motion down, with the logic that I can use the sticks for large movements, but for fine-tuned motion aiming, I don't want things to be oversensitive.
So what settings does everyone else run? And does anyone know if there are any trends in sensitivity settings amounts the elite players, or does it depend almost entirely on the individual?
So, for TV/tabletop I use -3.5 for gyro, -1 for analog. For handheld, I use -1 for gyro, -2 for analog.
Reason being, the default sensitivity is too high. That sensitivity I listed there makes it a perfect one to one ratio of movement of your controller and the movement you see on screen. Analog is quick but not too quick. For handheld, obviously you want more subtle movements because you don't want to be flailing your system all over the place while holding it. So the -1 sensitivity works really well for handheld. Might even be able to push it up to 0. But I turn the analog down to -2 (just a small drop) because playing and handheld mode and moving the system while you play I need a little bit slower and finer adjustment with the analogue.
