Searched but no threads found...

I've changed my mind about this and am almost at the 'buy' stage, but when I watch the video on the eshop, it all looks a bit blurry. Is that just the video?

I've just checked Alex's gameplay video as well, and that looks blurry too.

@gcunit It's no 4K like it is on the PS4 Pro

I think the game has a dynamic resolution, meaning that it'll often dip below the 720p resolution (or is it 1080p when docked?). I've seen comparisons on YouTube, it looks fine on the Switch though, but yeah, it's not the best looking version, that's for sure.

I haven't bought the game yet either. I'm more worried about the length. Only 15 levels. If anyone can confirm how long it takes to beat a level, that would be great!

@Octane Video on Steam looks blurry too, though. Presumably it's the same video, though, so I dunno what that tells me.

Graphically is not that different from PS4, so it should not be kind of an issue. By the way i think i'll get it. But first i want to finish Zelda. I'll see if i finish it way before than MK8D release, but i don't know yet. Maybe at first price drop

I've got it guys. There are times when docked that it goes a bit blurry but not often. Hand held it looks perfect to me. The controls are a bit tricky but when it clicks it's fantastic. It's worth the asking price.

Bought it but so far I´ve played only the first level (too busy with Zelda Breath of the Wild).

It would be great if David Wise made soundtracks to all future Nintendo games.

FGPackers

@BigBadJohn how much time for a level? This is an important info to me since level total is just 15...

I am at level 6 and things have started to get really tricky, at least for me. If you don't become an expert at climbing poles over pits this game will last you the rest of your life. If climbing poles is a piece of cake for you, the game can probably be 100% in 6 hours.

I think it will take me 20 hours to 100% if I can stick with it. Getting the secret coins nearly gives me a heart attack it is so stressful.

@FGPackers Each level has different collectibles so in theory you could race through each section quite quickly. The real challenge is 100% each section. There's one coin that I kid you not I spent an hour trying to get too. Overall it's probably a 20-30 hr experience depending on skills level.

@BigBadJohn mmm that's a good amount. Thanks for the answer buddy, you helped me decide. Now i'll keep concentrating on Zelda, if i finish it soon i think i'll grab this while waiting for MK8D. If i finish Zelda near enough to 28th i'll take it at first price drop

It's not a terribly blurry game. The thing is it has mega amounts of AA applied and sacrifices resolution, because the primary character is a cylinder So jaggies would be disastrous in this game, smoothness is required, so some blur from the FSAA over the lower res is the tradeoff. Notice despite the softness the snake actually looks very smooth and round.

It has that tradeoff even on "more powerful" platforms, a little more on Switch, but similar, just less shaders on Switch and less lighting/water effects. You get used to it fast though.

Play time. For me the controls are not always intuitive and it's easy to not line things up right. Pole climbing can be painful when going across large spans of nothing but flat pole. I've ended up retrying climbs dozens of times before kind of winging it, going full speed and eventually I can make it across either by luck or hitting the physics in the right spots. It's not an easy game, and can at times be infuriatingly frustrating, just because controlling the snake seems to not always do what you think it will do. I'm really just focusing on getting the 3 gems and "whatever orbs and coins I can easily and reasonably get to" without losing my progress and rage quitting. Just playing it handheld mostly between Zelda runs. Great game so far though as far as Switch titles go. If infuriating sometimes

@FGPackers Well I've done with zelda for the time being (role on DLC) so I've picked up a couple of games to bridge the gap till MK8D. Snake Pass and Blaster Master Zero are both well worth it. They pale in comparison to BoTW but then again most games do.

This is why I care: I want to support third parties on Switch, and while it's pleasing to see the eshop price is the same as the Steam price, we all know the Steam price will get at least a short term reduction soon enough. I can swallow that, if this is a game really worth getting, but when I watch the videos of it, I find that blurriness enough to put me off paying full price, regardless of why it's there and whether it's on the PC/PS4 version or not.

So while it's an attractive game, the lack of variety in it and the blurriness are probably enough to put it back on my 'wait for sale' list. It's not like I don't have other games to play, I just don't have other Switch games to play (aside from Zelda).

My two cents: alright game, possibly fun if you're patient, but I suffer from migraines and the tedious nature of this game triggered some hardcore migraines for me. So just a heads up, it CAN get tedious, even when you figure out how the physics work. 4 levels in and I think I won't be touching the game again for awhile because my migraines just got too intense. But if you can handle the tedious nature, it's a challenging but doable puzzle game with collectathon tendencies.

I plan making Snake Pass my first eShop purchase, as I really like the visual direction and amazon-inspired theme.

I just picked up this game and I love it! I feel like I was meant to be a snake :3

I love games with challenging controls, and controlling the snake is definitely a challenge, but I'm picking it up very quickly. The physics involve seem to really make sense to me. I've only played two levels, though. I can't wait til it gets tougher.

I bought it, and I think it's pretty mediocre.

My biggest complaint is with the collectables. They do nothing to enhance the experience and are pretty useless. This absolutely ruins my drive to collect, as i don't feel motivated to collect in this collectathon. Would it be that hard to make an in-game shop to spend your collected items?

The controls are also a little on the poor side, though they are fine. Slithering is tedious though.

I like the graphics, and the levels seem either okay or good.

So, I would give it a 6.5/10. It's good and has amazing potential, but has a few glaring flaws that I can't get over.

@ShadJV Oh yeah, this game gave me some headaches too. Physics based games seem to do that for me.

@Nintendoer oh physics games usually are fine for me, this was the first one that triggered my migraines. Just the tedious nature of it I guess? It wasn't a bad game, just not for me I guess.
