@Magician, yeah, that’s totally valid. Like, I’m not the type to “demand” a certain level of activity or anything. (Contrary to how I sometimes come across on the forums, I actually don’t take most games too seriously. Lmao)

At this point anything would be better than nothing. Let me ask my friend and if he agrees I’ll try to get the thing set up within the next day or two. (I think we might be in the same time zone but I work nights, which means my play schedule is sort of off compared to most people’s.)

On that note, I’m gonna sign off now and try to get a bit of sleep. In the meantime, I welcome suggestions for a witty or interesting Pantheon names. 😅

@Northwind

My only suggestion for the pantheon name would be to keep it generic, Nintendo Life. Keep it appealing for other NL.com forum members who might express interest in joining. Aside from that, since you're the one fronting the credits, any decisions regarding the pantheon I leave to you. I am the silent, minority stakeholder.

Although, if I remember correctly, some pantheon choices required a majority vote?

Again, I'll back whatever you decide on.

@Magician, my friend has agreed. So, then the question is, when can you be online?

Realistically, I'm not going to be reliably available between around 8 pm and 7:30 or 8 am central time except Tuesday or Wednesday, and I need to sleep during the remainder. So, that leaves a relatively small window when I'll reliably be on without prior planning: roughly two or three hours per day most days, in the evenings. That said, I could of course be on at another time if we arranged it in advance. Mornings or later in the afternoon (or waiting until the middle of next week) would be best, but I could try and make other times work.

I’m trying to coordinate this with my friend too, and he’s not on NL and also has a very different schedule from me, so please forgive me if I’m a bit slower to respond. Coordinating things like this is a big enough 🥙 if everyone is communicating through the same channels, lmao. In the meantime, I’m gonna put my Switch FC back into my forum signature in just a few minutes here; shoot me a friend request when you have a chance? I think we’ll need that to ensure I can invite you, at least without too much hassle. EDIT: done

EDIT 2 (for my own reference): As of this moment I have 73 Switch friends. (I can’t believe this is something we need to actively monitor now. 😬)

Unrelated, but they apparently just dropped a 'limited time endgame event' with exclusive rewards.

The game has been out for less than a week. What percentage of the player base is going to be able to partake of that event before its period ends? Most likely not too many who work full-time.

A bit of an annoying decision, that one.

My schedule is flexible. I get home from work at 3pm CST, so I can meetup whenever after that time of day during the workweek if weekends are too hectic. I'll send you a FR when I get home from work today.

@Magician, that works. (You caught me on break, lol.) I’ll try to get it set up within the next two days; normally I’d be able to promise 24 hours, but I’m afraid I’ve just suffered a bit of an emergency (burst pipe and consequent flooded house) that’ll probably take my attention for a day or two.

New player progression appears to remain unchanged. Follow the yellow brick road by focusing solely on the story campaign. Doing so unlocks locations in the Capital. Dump your available currency into those Capital locations (Citadel, Tower, Hall of Trophies, etc.) to advance your rank. Complete the bastions as they become available and assign symbols under the abilities tab to enhance your combat effectiveness.

Unlocked directives last night. These weren't in the game when I played regularly on PS4. Basically your daily to-do list for high value/premium currencies. Time to grind out those victory medals for Hall of Trophies progress.

Lets chop that wood.

@Magician, I’ve accepted your friend request. My friend has agreed to be online for the invite at around 8:30 pm central time on Sunday. I could invite you as early as tomorrow evening if you’ll be available.

Now we're cooking with gas. Finished the yellow brick road last night, becoming a junior god. The hardest part about the endboss fight is completing the twenty minute mission before the game crashes, lol. Anywho once you're a junior god you unlock the other half of the directives playlist, the adept system, and most importantly...operations. Operations is your weekly activity leaderboard for argents.

Why pay for premium currency when you can earn it?

Also unlocked Grovewalker. My oh my, what a class. Very much like the cryomancer, but its AoE is wider. It feels like an upgrade, although the combat progressions are very different. The cryomancer's damage is frontloaded; attack then wait for cooldowns. Grovewalker has a lower ceiling for damage but its damage output is more consistent. It has cooldowns as well, but I feel as though I'm always active in combat rather than staring at a countdown.

@Magician, very nice! I noticed today that you’ve got around 10 hours more than me invested, but it sounds like you’re well further along in the campaign than I am. (I only have time to play ~2 quests per day, though - and lately those have been largely dedicated to Directives - so you’ll probably be perpetually ahead of me. Lol)

I've got the Gunner rotation down. This was me soloing one of the bosses on Naori Island (a rank 23 PvE area):

Ok, am I doing something wrong?

I’m now at Rank 47, which should be good enough to tackle the ‘Warm-Up’ difficulties of the Group quests. Those are ostensibly Rank 45, though they’re balanced for a team of five players at Rank 45+. They’re absolutely not soloable; I just tried (with a class I’ve ‘mastered’ and for which I have a legendary weapon and mostly rares for my other gear), and died horrifically.

Problem is, either the Group Finder is buggy or else there’s just nobody doing these, since I’ve queued for 20+ minutes and not matched with a single other player. FWIW, I also frequently see people using region chat at the Observatory asking for random people to join these—which would seem unnecessary if the Group Finder were a viable way of finding a group (and thus suggests it’s not just me having trouble finding a game). The hub and PvE areas are all v active at all times, so it doesn’t seem to be a matter of low general player base.

I’m now up to 6 gold directives for Group games, so I’d really like to complete one or a few before topping out at 7. Does anyone know why the Group Finder isn’t working? Could it be something I’m doing wrong? (Like, do I have to do more than select Group Finder and a role, then wait?)

Gonna tag @Magician here, since you’re knowledgeable about this game.

ETA: Here’s what I’m currently queuing with. HP is 25.45k, and class is ‘mastered’ (all abilities usable). I’ve also mastered Paladin (and have >50% of abilities unlocked for all other classes except Lightbinder); I don’t have quite as good gear for running Defense, but I could queue as Paladin if it might help. Group ratio is 3:1:1 between Attack:Defense:Support, though, so even if DPS is a more popular role I can’t imagine it would extend queue times by as much as I’m seeing.

If you haven't already, I would make finishing the story and unlocking your divine form your top priority.

It's unreasonable to have group content available to launch solo, without being in a group, straight away. They can't be completed solo until your divine form has been advanced to the point where its duration lasts long enough to finish them solo. Worse yet, group content is often tied to bastion progression, which is ridiculous. I recommend you reserve your daily allotment of stimulants for skipping (completion without participation) bastion quests for group content.

Although it's an eyesore, I would ignore directives regarding group. Stick to completing the squad and region directives when the rewards appear worthwhile (credits and knowledge aren't enough, imo). Here in the midgame it's all about cultivating and managing your adepts, as they're your primary source for acquiring faith, which fuels your divine form. Swapping out lower-leveled adepts for higher level adepts as you acquire them. And properly equipping them to maximize faith returns.

Managing adepts and completing squad missions in your divine form (when you have available faith to do so) to earn divine deeds, which is the currency used in the Tower of Deeds, should be the first thing you be do each and every day. Before even considering your directives.

Go super saiyan as often as possible, my friend.

Hmm, a 400 MB patch this morning.

I didn't play long enough to notice if stability had improved or not.

@Magician, I haven’t tested it myself yet (last few days have been kicking my ass), but according to a bunch of people on Twitter, the patch has accomplished exactly zero of what it was intended to—neither fixing the startup crash some people were experiencing, nor improving general stability or reducing crashes in general. One person even took a video and posted it!

At least most people seem to be taking it relatively in stride.

Seems the developers have changed the currency for the Hall of Travels since I last played. Hall of Travels is the divine form path that extends the duration of your divine form in missions. It used to just take divine deeds, now you have to unlock it first by spending victory medals. That's...kind of ridiculous.

It makes me regret spending the 6k victory medals I had on Tower of Knowledge upgrades.

Vote for pantheon upgrade seeking enactment.

1% increase to health for all members.

T-minus 24hrs or the vote will require a recast.

@Magician, thanks! I still haven't got a single directive for upgrade materials, so you did that all yourself!

75 hours deep, just finished tier three for all my bastions. Working on closing out the regions for generation one equipment and gems, as well as the thousands of knowledge they award upon completion. Now I'm just waiting for the daily refresh of operations and directives. The road to earning the 8,400 victory medals I need to unlock the Hall of Travels, which will allow me to take on group content solo, is long and arduous.

@Northwind

Any bets as to what will happen first?

The release of Monster Hunter Rise, forcing me to drop Skyforge as my main game.

Or the directives are generous enough to get me the victory medals I desire before then.
