Topic: Saving MCPE mods to an SD card?

Posts 1 to 10 of 10

I'm new to Switch and its language and I can't work out if I can save the mods I've bought within the Minecraft market to the SD card I have on the Switch - can anyone advise?

I'm getting the 'not enough storage' message because of all the mods and resource packs when playing multiplayer games using mods and addons and thought I could shunt it all onto the memory card but it's installed and I'm still getting the message.

Thanks

@Widge After you've formatted a card to the Switch, all game and DLC downloads will default to saving on the micro SD card.

Are you sure the micro SD card is legitamate, and has enough space? Cards sold for super cheap, too-good-to-be-true prices, like on Amazon, are often counterfeit cards, and don't have the advertised capacity. They are modded to display that they have X amount of capacity, but in reality, it could be WAY smaller. Example, A card marketed as 128GB, and displays having 128GB, is actually an 8GB card. (forgive me if this is not your issue, but every few months, someone new here doesn't know about the counterfeit card scams going on).

Rules for buying legitimate cards on Amazon
1. Must have LOTS of positive reviews, thousands, 10,000, 100,000+, the more the better.
2. Must be big name brand you trust.
3. If the price of a card is too good to be true, it may be a bogus, counterfeit card. Beware.

Thanks @Woomy. I bought a Sandisk Switch compatible disc during black friday so I'm hoping it's OK!
Do I need to delete the mods and redownload them - will that put them on the card?

@Widge The Switch should manage where to save the game on it's own. Nintendo really dummy-proofed things well. But if you're worried about it, you can delete the game, and redownload it. If the micro SD card is installed, it will all go to the micro SD card.

The switch has a way of storing a game in multiple places. Game save data is always stored on Switch internal memory. If you had a cartridge, the core game will be on that, and while game patches/updates, & DLC will be stored on the micro SD card (if the micro SD card is inserted).

AFAIK Switch can't use Mods only DLC that are bought or game codes for eShop download. So we have need to be clear games MODs don't work for Switch only DLC from eShop are allowed. Nintendo is pretty clear on restricting game mods on Switch. HomeBrew is not part of Switch.

Thanks both, I’ll keep trying with the memory card and reinstall if I don’t have any joy.

SwitchForce - I’m talking about the mods within minecraft. On bedrock edition you buy them through the minecraft marketplace so they’re all official.

Minecraft Pocket Edition mods are for just that Pocket Edition aka Mobile Android/iPhone.

If talking Behaviourpacks or Addons those are only for Windows 10 Edition or Mobile versions. Not console Bedrock edition so don't bother they aren't possible, your just wasting your time. I know I've used Datapacks on Java and Behaviourpacks on Bedrock/Windows 10 Edition and researched it enough even without using a mobile version of Minecraft but have Bedrock and Java Edition on PC as tests and understanding how it all works as well as playing regular Minecraft with console versions of Minecraft Bedrock (PS4/Xbox not sure Switch) and Legacy Console (older consoles, 360, Xbox One before the Bedrock version and PS Vita). You can't mod console Minecraft you just can't.

This is why you research what version of the game you want before you buy it. That and modding is done by fans not Mojang they only offer the marketplace, their own creations and whatever they allow of fans to post worlds, skins and texture packs you never see mods on the marketplace do you? No because they don't support them. They allow purchases of fan content in Bedrock but it's against terms of service on Java because those standards make sense, sigh so those creators make money with donations or whatever Curseforge has for it's author program, they are a community content hosting platform for certain games Minecraft being the biggest of course.

If you mean a hacked console and adding mods into the game like I've seen in the Wii U Minecraft community then sure but that's not what these are, this is Bedrock content for Mobile and Windows 10 Edition the only platforms that had modding before Bedrock came out Pocket Edition and Java Edition. Console Bedrock aka PS4/Xbox One/Switch with 'Minecraft' not 'Minecraft [console name] edition' then no both current console and legacy console versions do not support mods at all.

There is a reason they aren't in the marketplace and treated like with Java Edition as community content found online on Curseforge or MCPEDL.com for example. You can't access files on consoles and the big three don't really allow mods either. It's why Skyrim had the special edition to allow mods, a select few at least. Sony didn't allow many while Microsoft allowed it more on their platform.

@SuntannedDuck2 As this poster said there is nothing available like that for Switch. If you can't find it on Nintendo eShop then you can use DLC also MODs aren't permitted on Switch for privacy and those cheating on games. If you want to use those MODs you have to be on Windows or other Devices that uses such options.

@SwitchForce I know I'm deep into modding on Windows 10 Edition Bedrock/Java and use many console versions of the game. I know, I saw the other posts before mine just gave a more in-depth of what I know.

DLC/marketplace whatever. Fan content via marketplace is a thing and of course the official ones by Mojang and 4J Studios on legacy console versions of the game before Bedrock.

But mods I agree aren't and they never were on other versions either. Sure Skyrim and Fallout can on Xbox One and a bit less offered on PS4 and both are via the Special Edition (no Special Edition on Switch) but not Switch because of course Nintendo wants nothing to do with official modding and that's up to them.

But I know enough about the Minecraft modding scene and own enough console versions of the game (360, One, Vita, PS4 with PSVR).

No there is legit reason for not doing it and it's called Cheating plain and simple. Why else does one think players get lifetime bann from online platforms for cheating. One can HomeBrew all they want but the moment you go eShop or NSO you get banned for life and that's not a joke here. Nintendo is very clear on this subject of Cheating and is not worth getting a NSO lifetime bann or access.
