@DownRightSam while disgruntled employees might not be the most reliable, we haven't seen a new game from retro in 4 years. When was the last time you heard anyone from Nintendo mention anything about retro? I think that is far more damning than a glass door review.
This is just a rumor, nothing more. Sensationalists wanting to get their moment of glory.
In reality, it seems highly unlikely, especially since Nintendo themselves put up a new job position on Indeed for a technical artist, wanting to work at Retro Studios, only 5 days ago: https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=571c206004c955e6&tk=1ch...
And a quick look on sites like LinkedIn and such, also tells me that they're still quite busy making something, at least. What it is, is anyone's guess at this point, but seeing what they've done so far, and how they come in handy with helping out with various other projects, such as 3DS conversions, I highly doubt that Nintendo would completely shut Retro Studios down.
This is just an idiot wanting to exact some kind of revenge after having lost his job. Long life social media and raving and ranting anonymous keyboard warriors, spouting all kinds of nonsense...
Worst case scenario, Retro Studios gets relabeled to Nintendo Development Team #5 (seeing as they already have four), and the people at Retro will all be relocated or will stay at their current location under different management or rules, but I don't even expect that to happen. Retro Studios, even though they haven't made anything very spectacular of late, except for a Switch port of Donkey Kong Returns: Tropical Freeze, still has more than enough value, both as a brand and as a developer, and as such it would be enormously stupid for Nintendo to let all of that go to waste by shutting them down for good.
Back in the day, when Retro Studios made the first Metroid Prime game, there were also rumblings and rumors of Nintendo wanting to shut the studio down, and we all know how that ultimately ended...
So, people: hold your horses, take a chill pill (or a sturdy drink, whichever is your poison of choice), don't start crying just yet, and wait until someone with ACTUAL knowledge and authority and/or right to speak on the matter, such as a higher echelon Nintendo rep, has anything sensible to say about it...
Doesn't surprise me at the slightest. Retro is dead man! And its all Nintendo's fault.
Its a real shame! The Metroid Prime trilogy and dkc returns where awesome, Tropical freeze a bit less. It has gone to silent. Most recent known activity was just a Tropical freeze port. Many talent left Retro. You know why?: Toxic work-enviroment!
I am sure working under Nintendo isn't healthy, what with all the restrictions and all. Developers want freedom, something they don't get at Nintendo. Also, Nintendo goes more and more for the easy and cheap thrills, Mario Odyssey and Zelda being the exception. With the Pokemon-guy at the helm they will go even more the "mobile" route, with maybe more yearly franchises.
It all sounds super bad. Once we all hoped Retro would become the new Rareware. It wasn't to be...
As for the upcoming Metroid: Nintendo is probably making it themselves now. I hope they know what they are doing, and that their heart is fully in it. Mario and Zelda show that they still have the talent. Pleeeaaassse don't mess up!!

I make of it that they’ve been working so hard that they’ve all got tunnel carpal syndrome and can no longer release their clenched fists, the lack of blood flow causing their hands to turn green.
Could be wrong however.
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
@EvilLucario Well, I'll be... that's odd. At least that comment makes sense now.
What's up with the black, though? Are you using a custom Twitter background? (for clarity's sake: I don't use Twitter myself, so I have no way of knowing)
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@Knuckles-Fajita Well, I can definitely imagine that it's more comfortable and/or preferable for some people, and choice is always a good thing. But I really didn't know, hence the honest question.
By the way: seeing as you're still around, did you manage to find some peace of mind in the midst of your personal storm?
