Hi All
I am new on this forum here so here goes.
I remember when I first bought the Wii back in 2003-2004 , it was a lot of fun with nanchuk and games like tank (this was bundled with other games AFAIK ) , wii sports , wii play
all of them were lot of family fun.
however I seem to miss these kind of games for the switch . any ideas as to why ?
also why doesn't nintendo backport 'Game & watch' classic games (manhole, helmet, parachute, octopus , donkey kong , Fire , Turtle Bridge etc. etc. ) to the switch console. Would be Great fun going through those yesteryear games once again.
I agree, there are NES & SNES games available on the e-shop (switch) but these are limited and handpicked as we speak.
I mean : why not make the whole SNES library free for sale on the switch. ( also applies to the : N64))
similarly why not make the complete 'Game & watch' series from 1980 onwards till it's end (including the panoramic screens , e.g popeye etc) , available to the customer.
Basically make the whole History (Library) of Nintendo available to the paying customer.
I like many here grew up during that time and am willing to buy those backported games just to relieve those memories.
and Oh yeah....let me mention again about those nice family games on the First Wii , that also is something I / we are very much missing on the new switch.
Hope to hear why Nintendo is doing what it is doing .
And there are plenty of family-friendly/party games that support motion controls, such as Super Mario Party, 1-2 Switch, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, Mario Tennis Aces etc. Plenty of these games are very much in the spirit of the style of experiences that we used to see quite frequently during the Wii era, and to some extent the Wii U, but indeed they are less common than they used to be.
Nintendo urgently needs a Wii Sports-style experience though. I'm confounded that there is nothing like it yet on the platform from Nintendo themselves, and lesser knock-offs will simply not do.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

@ Ruthless4u
agreed, Licensing deals are a pain in the neck.
But Nintendo can bring out their own proprietary library completely inside-out. The ones that came out from their own kitchen. no hankering on Licenses there ...I would suppose.
@ Silly_G
<The Wii was released in late 2006.> could be, I am getting old here
during the wii intro, there was a Wii Play that was I think pre-packed(if my memory cells do not betray me) and showed all the abilities of the nunchuk(whilst you play with all the packed in games...there were some pretty cool ones too. simple and effective) .....don't see that marketing strategy with the switch. Maybe not needed for people on nintendo line up all these years...but I for myself am a PS4 hopper .
But I guess I will have to trudge along ....and as you pointed out ..YES....definitely a wii play & wii sports kind of alternative is needed .
@radaway_1 Even some of the classic NES stuff is locked up in licensing. Popeye is one example, but there is probably a reason we usually get the inferior NES port of Donkey Kong vs the arcade original.
Wii Play was a game that basically was included with a Wii Remote purchase. The closest equivalent in the Switch era was 1-2-Switch, which was basically a tech demo showing off all the features of the Joy-Con.
I would say that they mostly have not done those things because they actually have third party support this time around. Wii Party was essentially a test for NDCube taking over Mario Party development from Hudson Soft, and Wii Party U failed to sell (outside of the bundled controller version). Wii Sports was just re-released as Wii Sports Resort in the Wii U generation and the same with Wii Fit/Wii Fit U.
Essentially the strategy that worked in the Wii era failed in the Wii U era, so why try it again in the Switch era? They made those sort of games last console and no one cared (or purchased). They even gave away Wii Fit U for the cost of a pedometer and ended up not even selling 1 million copies of the game.
@Darknyht
I see your point here .
'They made those sort of games last console and no one cared'
.......is good enough to discourage the most die harded folks . I think can see where Ninetndo is going ( where the world is going .heh heh) .....but secretly keep on hoping that a day might come when the Game & Watch generation can revisit their memory lanes.
*side note: can''t the Wii games be ported for the switch ....aargh here I go again
can de Joy-con handle those nanchuk & remote ctrl on the right hand config ? I am very new to the switch ..( 2 days Old) and thus these questions. Maybe I will start a different thread.
@radaway_1 To be honest, I am with you in a lot of ways. I purchased Wind Waker HD because I wanted to revisit a game I really liked and there were quality of life improvements that mattered. I skipped Twilight Princess HD and Link's Awakening because there wasn't enough to justify the $60 price tag.
I wish Nintendo would embrace stand-alone DLC more often. New Super Luigi U, Captain Toad, NES Remix, and XC2: Torna all were excellent stand alone expansions. I cannot help but wonder what would happen if Nintendo took one of their internal development teams and said crank out $20 eShop or $40 budget titles /stand alone expansions using idle IP/assets.
<Nintendo took one of their internal development teams and said crank out $20 eShop or $40 budget titles /stand alone expansions using idle IP/assets. >
You summed it all up. Hope Nintendo is listening ......there is a Generation that wants or will want to revisit their Assets. It will not be a Mass , but there is niche gen. waiting for it still.
and Thx. also for dropping those game-names Darknyht ......will put them on my Bucket List .
