@yoshi420 I mean, there's still a chance it would come back. It made an appearance on the Wii U Virtual Console and a number of other Rare games have made it to NSO. I'd be more surprised if it doesn't get added.
@yoshi420 It's very likely they'll put some Donkey Kong games on there on the lead up to Donkey Kong Bananza. During the 2 months prior to Donkey Kong Returns HD coming out they put all three Donkey Kong Land games on it.
All the contenders that aren't on there yet:
Game Boy Colour:
Donkey Kong Country
Nintendo 64:
Diddy Kong Racing
Donkey Kong 64
Game Boy Advance:
Classic NES Series: Donkey Kong
DK: King of Swing
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
They should be renaming the apps to Nintendo Classics this week as they said were doing so in "late May" I wonder if we'll get any other changes to them or if it's strictly just a name change.
@Suketoudara “SEGA Mega Drive - Nintendo Classics” sounds as if Nintendo acquired SEGA so maybe the Mega Drive app branching off into a SEGA Classics line?
@Grumblevolcano I think I heard somewhere it would be called Sega Mega Drive Classics/Sega Genesis Classics
As an aside it's really weird that if you access the NSO games through the NSO app on the front page instead of the individual console apps they have video footage of EVERY game on there. Usually multiple screenshots too. I wish we could access these previews from within the console apps too.
@Grumblevolcano I'd imagine it would still be called "Sega Genesis - Nintendo Switch Online." That's my guess anyway. I'm looking at this page that shows the Nintendo Classics part of NSO, specifically the comparison chart of the membership plans, and the Genesis app's name hasn't changed.
Just started my first Zelda game ever, thanks to the NSO. I've chosen Ocarnia of Time as my entry into the frnachise. Honestly, Im having a blast. 1998 game and man it SLAPS- cute graphics and characters, amazing gameplay, music. I just beat the first boss (spider) and the fight was real fun.
The only think I still have to adjust to, is camera control. Can be tricky sometimes, guess I need some practice.
NSO impressed me. Im hooked into Mario Tennis GBC, amazing game, phenomenal physics and gameplay.
Anyways, there was a N64 data transfer pack back in the day so you could have more chars since then start. And looks like they did it! It just there, Waluigi Yoshi etc not baby mario and few more.
For online play, I'd say it's less open and shut that Nintendo's games don't have central servers. For local play, yeah it's peer to peer. But for online play, that hasn't really been how games have done things for a while. And with good reasons too.
But either way, the fee isn't going to be to use their servers, it's to use their Online Service. Same with Xbox or Playstation. Let's face it, the writing has been on the wall ever since Microsoft tried charging people a monthly fee just to play online multiplayer, and people were willing to do so. It's a bit late now to whine about how "I'm already paying for internet". Gamers should have collectively voted with their wallets when Microsoft first introduced XBL as a paid service if that's what they wanted.
Instead Microsoft got away with it, and Sony saw what was going on and decided to try to do the same. And it worked, yet again. People were willing to pay every month to play online multiplayer when they use to do so for free.
Is it any wonder Nintendo has decided to follow suit now that they have a console that's doing well and is considered a strong contender for the other big names in home consoles again?
No it isn't any wonder Nintendo is doing it and I stupidly have signed up, I do know that I definitely won't be renewing though, not since I can't download the SNES, Gameboy or Gameboy Advance apps.
Just saw this on Reddit, I don't know how this was missed at the time!
At the 0:40 mark in the bottom right hand corner, you can see pretty clearly (albeit blurred) the box art for Super Smash Bros. and above that, Glover. Forsaken 64 and Donkey Kong 64 are also believed to be there although a little harder to make out than the other two!
@Nintoz i just read about this!!! dk 64 woud be perfect this month, and ive always wanted to play smash 64!!! hopefully this turns out to be true!
