Topic: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet

Not going to get this day one but I would have to be crazy to pass up on this one.

I've been doing surprisingly well so far in avoiding all of SV's leaks (it's handy having multiple hyper-fixations to fall back on I suppose) though I have actually seen 2....but at the same time haven't. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't click on but what I've seen is that:

Overall? Not too shabby for a week before release. Now if you guys could keep it that way on here, that'd be very nice.

Yeah I've been pretty good at leak dodging, I saw the second Fuecoco evo but that's really it so far

New designs FLOODING the sub reddit and I gotta say it.. Gen 9's new pokemon have the potential to become the overall best designs in the series, ever.

At least to me. Still only that one pokemon I don't like whatsoever. Everything else that's fully evolved is an absolute banger.

@Dom_31 : I agree. Some of the new Pokémon this gen are absolutely insane. I don't want to spoil myself too much, but I have seen some of the new evolutions, one of which is particularly baffling as it looks like it could either be a Paldean variation or an evolved form with almost no differences (namely Dundunsparce). And I absolutely love Primeape's evolution. I've always been indifferent to their line, but I want that old fart on my team, and my God, that name, that awesome name...

I'm also relieved that Smoliv's final form isn't a disappointment.

But considering the sheer quality of what is on offer (and my indifference to the final starter forms), I think I'm going to forgo my starter and build a team from scratch as soon as I am able.

And I'm so glad that we finally have a flamingo Pokémon. It doesn't even look all that different to its real-world inspiration, which is fine by me. I don't know whether it can evolve, but even if it's a single-stage Pokémon, that's fine too.

I also love the new dolphin Pokémon, but I hate its evolution. Ugh. It's Skiddo all over again (I dislike Gogoat). If I can get my hands on an eviolite early enough, I'll seriously consider adding it to my team.

@Dom_31 For now, I've been able to avoid spoilers of SV. I've seen posts on Reedit but all had blurred images, which is nice.
Although reading a comment like this makes me curious. Specially because I feel kinda meh on the designs of the Pokemon that were officialy unveiled.

A couple of questions with minimal spoilers.

• How many new Pokemon are here? More than X&Y at least?
• ...Are the not officialy unveiled Pokemon that good? XD

Avoiding leaks for SV lately has been hilarious because when SwSh came out, Pokemon was the one series I was utterly obsessed with and thus it became extremely difficult to avoid the leaks for it. Now that the game's leaking like a sieve though? I haven't actually seen a single one (othet than the two mentioned yesterday. How, you may ask? Because I got two other series to fawn over in reserve:

1) there's a little over 100 new pokemon, I think around 110 which is a ton.
2) I like every single one besides four. One is the one I said I just straight up dislike because it's stupid, or maybe because I don't understand its design without seeing it animated (and if my theory what it might actually be like is true I'd probably end up liking it again, just a strange design at first glance but that might be intended) and the other 3 are mostly just kind of lame and I wish they did more with that evolution line.

1) Wow. There are actually more Pokemon that I expected. I say this because it feels the advertising revealed very few of them surprisingly enough.

2) As I said, I don't particularly like a lot of the revealed SV Pokemon and was worried the game didn't had many due to how few they showed off, but it looks like that is not the case. At the very least this gives me more hope for the designs, since there are quite a bit of them. So probably not all are going to be dissapointing.

At the moment I'm somewhat optimistic about the game. Sure, in the technical aspect is going to be a mess. But maybe the story would be somewhat interesting and the open world aspect kinda enjoyable? It's just... I was burned HARD by Let's Go and (specially) SWSH. BUT I enjoyed Legends Arceus. And I want to enjoy this game. I'll wait for reviews and maybe one or two weeks after that to see post-hype opinions. I still remember how high SWSH reviews were.
It's going to be hard to avoid spoilers tho. Specially on YouTube.

Gen 1 - 151, Gen 2 - 100, Gen 3 - 135, Gen 4 - 107, Gen 5 - 156, Gen 6 - 72, Gen 7 - 88, Gen 8 - 96, Gen 9 (atm without future DLCs and without extra games in this Gen) - 103. This is just Species no forms included.

@SViper does 103 include stuff like the Donphans? Cause they're new pokemon not forms.

It looks like we're getting a pretty significant array of new Pokémon with respect to both new species and forms.

I wasn't too hyped before, but some of the leaks have gotten me really excited now.

Which is ironic, because I don't think the trailers have done the games justice, but perhaps TPCi wanted to keep much of its best content a surprise, and while I could have avoided spoilers, I also really wanted to know what kind of Pokémon I could be adding to my team.

@Dom_31 the number does include them and I know they are new Pokémon not forms, because I follow leaks like other people money, so knew about them for long time.

Update: I'VE FOUND IT.

Currys.co.uk are doing a deal for Violet, with a Starter cup thrown in, for £39.99. Was enough to push me into a pre-order

@Ulysses Violet from what I can find, has the orange house.

I won't obtain a copy of one of these until sometime after launch anyway, so I'm waiting on lists of exclusives to come out. Usually the cover legendary is a persuading factor, but I like both Koraidon and Miraidon equally. What little we do know (sans leaks) has me leaning towards Scarlet right now.

@Tyranexx I'm team Violet, you Scarlet folks are gonna need me.
