@Atomic77 It depends on how much mild graphical jank annoys you. Gameplay, it's not totally perfect, but I think it's really fun personally and a lot of other's are enjoying it a lot as well.

@Fizza I somehow did the normal gym as my second gym. The pre-battle 'puzzle' isn't great but there are definitely some fun characters. I also kind of liked the electric gym leader even though she was so tropey and absurd. I agree Nemona is best 'rival' ever. I'm kind of tempted to lose to her just to see what she says.

I did the Normal gym fifth I think, and I feel like that was the real turning point for me. I had no fighting types, and to this day I haven't found a massive amount of them even still, and without type advantages, I found this gym really hard.

Actually, it was actually the hardest gym in my entire journey. Took me a good four or five tries. Think the water one took me three, and a couple of the later ones took me two. I dunno what happened, the first third of each questline was stupidly easy, and then after that I seemed to keep falling further and further behind the level curve, despite spending hours at a time exploring the world and battling/catching.

Going back to the Normal gym, I had to overlevel myself to clear it in the end. I dunno why but that final pokemon, even without type advantages on their side either, Facade was one shotting my Pokémon even when I was a higher level by a significant number. I'm pretty sure I only got it done on my last attempt because late in the fight they missed a hit, and that extra hit that allowed me to get in made the difference.

It was also the only gym challenge I had to Google 😅 I just could not work out what that challenge wanted me to do at all and I still don't really.

So far the hardest things for me were the water gym test (water was my 2nd gym which caused a difficulty spike) and the ground titan (ground was my 2nd titan which caused a huge difficulty spike). Currently at 3 gyms (bug, water, grass), 3 titans (flying, ground, rock) and 2 Star bases (dark, fire) done.

@Atomic77 Outside of frame drops, the bugs seem to occur randomly so each person has a different experience. You may be lucky and be mostly limited to just frame drops or you may be unlucky and experience things that make the game unplayable such as softlocks a lot. Which explains why some people compare the game to Cyberpunk while others say that's an overreaction.

My experience so far is a few softlocks and freezes happened on my 1st day of playing but only really frame drops afterwards.

Well....I just saw Toedscruel for the first time and....I don't know what to make of it. All I know is that I both hate and love it at the same time. Oh, and it gets Spore. With an ability that makes it so it'll always connect. Someone save me.

@SViper I wouldn't mind a Sprigatito and Quaxly if you don't mind. Is there anything in particular you'd like in return?

@SViper Ah sorry, I don't use Discord myself. I'll add you as a friend on Switch and we'll probably be able to take care of it all in-game through codes. Oh, and I'm playing Scarlet!

I looked afterwards and I think I have mostly done everything in their recommended order, not intentionally, it is just how it played out for me. Which makes it weirder to me that for the last two thirds of most questlines I felt like I was always behind the level curve.

Is it me or have the overdone it with the Grass types this gen? I chose Spiragatito but it seems I can't go 20 mins or so without finding a Grass type (new or returning) that I also want to use. Meanwhile I'm not enjoying the Fire and Water options nearly as much (but have settled on Pyroar and Wugtrio for now).

Maybe it's just the specific areas that I've covered so far!

I'm not sure I've even caught a pure water type Pokemon yet now you mention it. I wanna find that Dolphin pokemon so bad.

@Buizel I'm having the same problem with Ghost-types myself: I absolutely adore ones like Bramblin, Greavard and Gimmighoul but Fuecoco's final evo is Ghost-type as well so I don't really want the overlap, you know? My team is coming along pretty nicely though all things considered: I got Crocalor, Clodsire, Wugtrio, Lokix and a bit of experimentation with mons such as Orthworm, Dolliv, Kilowattrel, Farigiraf and others. Only time will tell who sticks around I suppose.

@Pizzamorg I found mine on the beach by Levincia if that helps (though they can also be found almost anywhere where there's water)!

I am on my way!

As for my team, I am currently rocking a Midnight Lycanroc, an Arctibax, Kilowattrel, Tinkaton (maybe my favourite Pokemon ever?), Lokix and a Skeledirge. Hopefully I can swap Lycan for a Dolphin.

So I’m enjoying the game, I actually quite like the overall design direction GF have gone with. I think the game has a vibrant world, and kinda gives me a bit of nostalgia for Gen 1. However not going to lie, after a short while the choppiness starts to give me a headache. If you play on the TV like me, I found setting the Switch’s TV Output to 1080p (I had on auto) and resetting the game when you notice the choppiness really helps at least in the meantime. Apparently setting to 720p can help with frame rate, but seems to be running better for me now once I switched from auto to 1080p.

My advice is probably a bit noob but I hope that helps whoever is on the fence about the game. I’m sure we will see an attempt to fix performance issues at some point.

@Buizel @Pizzamorg I managed to get a Buizel rather early in the game which is now a Floatzel. I guess it comes down to how much new you want to put into your team. My current team is Gabite, Floatzel, Fletchinder, Pawmo, Kirlia, Crocalor which is more on the past than new.

@Grumblevolcano As much as I love Buizel (who would've guessed?), the last two Pokemon games to come out were BDSP and Legends Arceus, so I've had enough of the guy for the time being.

As someone who grew up with gens 1 and 2 (and then too-much-water gen 3), wherein water Pokemon were pretty much the most abundant, it just feels weird to me this trend since gen 5 where good water Pokemon are relatively scarce!

@SViper Sorry for not getting back sooner, I was just taking on the Normal Gym (Larry's great).

We could just share trade codes on here if you'd like, I'll set everything up on my end. If you're willing to proceed then I'll just share the code here and we should be grand!
